Chapter 347: Chapter 347: Passionate Entanglement

Gu Changfeng couldn’t bear to let her down and finally agreed.

An Ge raised her phone, switched to the selfie camera, and Gu Changfa saw himself on the screen.

At first glance, although his features were handsome and striking, they felt unfamiliar, making it difficult for him to recall his youthful appearance.

When An Ge pressed the shutter button, his entire facial expression was stiff, even his gaze seemed unnaturally rigid.

After Gu Changfeng left, An Ge sent the photo to Gu Ru Yi and quickly made a call to her.

But the phone rang only once before it was cut off.

An Ge frowned, guessing that Gu Ru Yi must be busy, so she didn’t call again.

In reality, Gu Ru Yi was indeed occupied with a social gathering. However, her phone had been left in the corner of the private room. Not only did she not hear the ringtone, but the phone was also picked up by An Muxin, who was lurking in that corner.

The one who cut off An Ge’s call was none other than An Muxin.

After hanging up on An Ge, An Muxin quickly seized a moment when no one was paying attention and went to the restroom.

Once she closed and locked the restroom door, she opened the message An Ge had sent to Gu Ru Yi.

The message included not only a photo of An Ge with a strikingly handsome man—someone alarmingly familiar at first glance—but also a cryptic text from An Ge.

The contents read: "If Qin Jingzhi were still alive, would he look like this as an adult?"

After reading the message, An Muxin was so shocked her hands trembled, causing the phone to slip and fall to the floor.

Luckily, Gu Ru Yi’s phone was durable and didn’t break.

After a few seconds of regaining her composure, An Muxin quickly picked up the phone and returned to the private room.

She discreetly placed Gu Ru Yi’s phone back where it had been while everyone remained distracted.

Not long afterward, Gu Ru Yi returned to the room.

An Muxin had already distanced herself from Gu Ru Yi’s phone and was casually chatting with a young rich heir nearby.

The dinner gathering tonight had been organized by the eldest son of the An Family, An Jifeng.

Gu Ru Yi and An Jifeng were childhood friends and former classmates. An old schoolmates’ reunion prompted Gu Ru Yi to attend.

Recently, An Muxin’s reputation had been tarnished, with unfavorable rumors swirling around her. An Jifeng specifically brought her along tonight to warn his friends in this circle not to gossip behind his back, or else they would face his wrath as her elder brother.

Initially, Gu Ru Yi hadn’t known that An Muxin would be attending the reunion as well.

When she entered and immediately spotted An Muxin sitting in a corner, her brows furrowed in discontent.

She remembered what An Ge had told her: An Muxin was vicious at heart, and so Gu Ru Yi decided not to linger.

After locating her phone in the private room, she informed An Jifeng, "I have some urgent matters to attend to and need to leave."

An Jifeng didn’t press her, "Alright, take care. Stay safe on your way back."

After Gu Ru Yi left, An Muxin immediately turned to An Jifeng and asked, "Big Brother, the Qin Family massacre... it had nothing to do with our An Family, right?"

An Jifeng’s expression instantly turned icy, "What nonsense are you spouting?"

An Muxin hesitated before continuing:

"Didn’t I suspect before that Gu Changfeng might have some grudge against our family? I even asked you to investigate him, but you couldn’t seem to uncover his background...

I accidentally saw the message An Ge sent to Gu Ru Yi just now. I suspect... Gu Changfeng might be the Sixth Son of Qin Family, Qin Jingzhi."

An Jifeng retorted coldly, "Rubbish!"

After his words fell, An Muxin displayed the photo saved in her album of An Ge and Gu Changfeng to An Jifeng, saying:

"The birthmark on Gu Changfeng’s face is fake. This is his true appearance. Look, doesn’t he look like Qin Jingzhi?"

An Jifeng stared at the photo for over ten seconds before replying to An Muxin, "It’s not him. Jingzhi doesn’t look like this."

Back when the Qin Family massacre happened, Qin Jingzhi was already fourteen or fifteen years old.

A teenager’s features wouldn’t change drastically as an adult.

Thus, An Jifeng was certain the Gu Changfeng in the photo wasn’t Qin Jingzhi.

However, the fact that Gu Changfeng had hidden his true appearance and served as An Muxin’s bodyguard for over ten years was indeed unsettling.

After some thoughtful deliberation, An Jifeng said:

"Send me the photo, and I’ll dig deeper into his background."

An Muxin replied, "Alright."

An Muxin, who had dirt on her in Gu Changfeng’s grasp, was deeply afraid that the man she had always looked down on might actually have a powerful background.

What terrified her more was the possibility that, with just a flick of his finger, Gu Changfeng could ruin her completely.

Thus, An Muxin was desperate to uncover everything about Gu Changfeng.

She quickly stepped outside and called Cui Zhu to her side, giving her instructions:

"My brother is swamped with work and too inefficient at investigations. Pay someone on the dark web; I want to know everything about Gu Changfeng in the shortest time possible."

After a pause, she added, "And while you’re at it, find out how much it costs to hire someone for a hit job."

Cui Zhu responded, "Understood, Miss."

An Muxin then asked Cui Zhu, "What’s the current status on Lin Keke?"

"Lin Keke has successfully gained Fu Rou’s trust, and Fu Rou has recognized her as an adopted daughter. Not only that, Lin Keke is now living with Fu Rou in President Huo’s Fengqiao Villa. Overall progress is going well."

After listening to Cui Zhu’s update, An Muxin further inquired:

"Has she mentioned what’s happening between Huo Shaoyan and An Ge?"

Cui Zhu replied, "I heard that last night, at Madam Jiang’s birthday banquet, Huo Shaoyan and An Ge completely fell out..."

An Muxin interrupted, "Completely fell out? If they haven’t divorced, it doesn’t count as falling out. So, did they get divorced or not?"

Cui Zhu considered for a moment before answering, "No conclusive news yet."

An Muxin frowned and instructed Cui Zhu, "Call Lin Keke now; I want to speak with her."

A minute later, Cui Zhu dialed Lin Keke’s number.

At the time, Lin Keke was accompanying Fu Rou for lunch.

Receiving a call from An Muxin made Lin Keke so nervous she nearly dropped the phone.

After hanging up Cui Zhu’s call, she told Fu Rou:

"Godmother, my mother is calling. I’ll step out to take the call and come back to eat with you afterward."

Fu Rou, who had been in a particularly foul mood, frowned and snapped:

"Haven’t I told you before that now you’re my adopted daughter? Your status is different than before, so stop associating with such low-class people.

I’m not saying you can’t contact your mother, but her background is utterly embarrassing. If you ever plan to marry into a wealthy family, it’s best you distance yourself from them."

This rebuke left Lin Keke feeling extremely uncomfortable.

Though she knew her impoverished family and her gambling mother were indeed disgraceful, being reprimanded so harshly still stung.

For now, however, she was dependent on others and had no choice but to endure the humiliation.

Lin Keke waited until Fu Rou’s scolding ended and said:

"Godmother, I... I understand. I’ll reduce contact with my mother’s side from now on. I won’t call her; I’ll stay here and have lunch with you instead..."

Fu Rou, who had lost her appetite, set her chopsticks aside and said, "Forget it. No appetite anymore. Go take your call quickly, and come back later—I have something to discuss with you."

After speaking, Fu Rou left the dining room.

Once she was gone, Lin Keke grabbed her phone and returned to her room.

Once back in her room, she returned Cui Zhu’s call, "Hello, what’s the matter?"

"Why didn’t you answer earlier?"

The voice on the other end questioned her.

Recognizing it as An Muxin’s voice, Lin Keke quickly explained, "Fu Rou was there; I wasn’t in a good position to take the call."

An Muxin got straight to the point, "I heard from Cui Zhu that Huo Shaoyan and An Ge have completely fallen out. Are they divorced or not?"

Lin Keke replied:

"Last night, after Madam Jiang’s birthday banquet, President Huo didn’t come back. I... heard he tried to reconcile with Mrs. Huo late last night,

but Mrs. Huo refused to let him in... I don’t know their exact current situation."

An Muxin seemed displeased, "Then why aren’t you hurrying to find out?"

Lin Keke said, "Got it."

Before hanging up, An Muxin told her:

"I have a very potent M-type hallucinogen. If you can successfully get An Ge to inhale it, I guarantee she’ll be at your beck and call.

Later, I’ll have someone deliver it to you. This stuff can not only ruin An Ge’s reputation but also make her miscarry for real—details on execution we’ll discuss later."

Lin Keke understood that if An Ge suffered severe consequences because of this drug and Huo Shaoyan traced it back to her, An Muxin would undoubtedly frame her as the scapegoat.

But if she didn’t comply, An Muxin could expose her shameful past.

After much inner turmoil, Lin Keke reluctantly agreed, "Alright, I got it."

After ending the call with An Muxin, Lin Keke then heard the sound of a car engine downstairs.

She ran to the window and saw Huo Shaoyan getting out of the car.

From her vantage point, she watched Huo Shaoyan walk around the front of the car to the other side, helping a short-haired girl out of the back seat.

One glance was enough for Lin Keke to sense something odd about this girl—her demeanor seemed... childlike, perhaps even mentally deficient?

Intrigued by what she saw, Lin Keke hurriedly left her room to find Fu Rou.

At that moment, Fu Rou was in her room, preparing for an afternoon nap.

But just as she lay down, Lin Keke’s abrupt entrance disrupted her, causing Fu Rou to frown in irritation:

"Do you have no manners? Don’t you know to knock before entering?"

But Lin Keke’s next words shocked Fu Rou into sitting upright.

"Godmother, President Huo is back."

Hearing this, Fu Rou immediately got up.

She threw off the covers, stepped into her indoor slippers, and asked:

"He didn’t bring back that enchantress An Ge, did he?"

Lin Keke replied, "No."

Fu Rou had barely relaxed when Lin Keke’s follow-up made her uneasy again.

Lin Keke told her, "But President Huo did bring back a stunningly beautiful girl..."

Fu Rou, alarmed, rushed out of her bedroom.

Lin Keke followed closely behind.

In no time, the two arrived downstairs together.

Upon seeing the girl being led by the hand into the house, Fu Rou froze in place.

Huo Shaoyan acted as if she weren’t even there, guiding Huo Shaoxin toward the sofa.

Fu Rou’s eyes brimmed with tears, ready to confront Huo Shaoyan, but he had already dialed An Ge’s number.

His voice was low and hoarse, carrying an air of unwavering tenderness:

"When are you free? I’d like to take you out for a meal." After a short pause, he added, "Consider it a farewell dinner before the divorce. Is that okay?"
