Disheartened, I Fled from the CEO with Our Babies
Chapter 345: As Long as the Child

Chapter 345: Chapter 345: As Long as the Child

The woman, who hadn’t looked at him even once from start to finish, finally spared him a glance at this moment.

Her gaze was calm, but undeniably icy. "Looking for me?"

As she said this, she curled her lips into a cold sneer,

"If it’s to discuss divorce, I can stay and talk for a bit. If it’s not, then don’t waste my time."

Young Master Huo still gripped her wrist firmly, refusing to let her go.

His bloodshot Phoenix Eyes were fixed on her, unwavering. He said, "I’ve already taught Jiang Dong a lesson ..."

An Ge sneered again, her laugh cutting and sharp. "Does it matter? President Huo, the damage is already done, isn’t it?"

Huo Shaoyan’s Phoenix Eyes burned red. "Does it have to end in divorce?"

An Ge gave him a cold look and replied:

"I had made up my mind to try living well with you, but now I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to anymore. So yes, it has to end."

After saying that, An Ge shook off Huo Shaoyan’s hand.

As she led Huo Chenghuan and started walking away, Huo Shaoyan called out to her back in a cold voice:

"I’ll accept becoming a widower, but I won’t accept divorce."

An Ge halted her steps for just a moment before continuing up the stairs with Huo Chenghuan.

After taking Huo Chenghuan to explore every corner of the upstairs area, an entire hour had passed.

Huo Chenghuan was feeling a little tired.

An Ge brought her to the room to rest, and the servant delivered some juice that children love.

After drinking the juice, the little girl, fatigued from having slept poorly the previous night, lay in An Ge’s arms and drifted into deep slumber.

The child was sound asleep. An Ge carried her to the bed, leaned down beside her ear, called her softly a few times, but she didn’t wake.

Once Huo Chenghuan was asleep, An Ge sat cross-legged on the sofa.

Now that everything was quiet, her mind began to spiral uncontrollably.

She didn’t know how things were going downstairs between Gu Changfeng and Huo Shaoyan, whether the two had gotten into a conflict, or even started fighting ...

As time ticked by, An Ge felt more and more uneasy.

Unable to resist her racing thoughts, she decided to go downstairs to check things out.

She quickly arrived at the spiral staircase.

At that moment, an incredibly thick, emotion-laden male voice echoed from the hall downstairs. It was Huo Shaoyan: "Fine, I agree."

After Huo Shaoyan’s words landed, Gu Changfeng instructed Qin Ming:

"Prepare two copies of the divorce agreement and bring them here for President Huo to sign."

Listening to this, An Ge didn’t know what she felt.

It was as if there was a fleeting sense of relief, only to be plunged into an even bleaker emptiness the next second. Her entire being stumbled into a profound state of disarray and confusion.

Her legs felt like they were filled with lead, unable to move.

She leaned against the railing behind her and squatted down softly.

"I can consent to the divorce, but I won’t relinquish custody of the child!"

Gu Changfeng replied:

"President Huo, even if the relationship between you two as husband and wife is beyond repair, you can’t force her into a corner. She just lost an unborn child because of you, and now after ending this marriage, you still want to take away her two children? Do you truly want to drive her to the edge?"

Huo Shaoyan’s Phoenix Eyes burned fiercely, but he said nothing.

Gu Changfeng continued: "At the very least, leave her one child. Give her a way to live, isn’t that fair?"

Huo Shaoyan still remained silent.

He held his head in his hands, his face buried within his palms, so no one could see the expression on his face.

Gu Changfeng stared at him for several seconds before he spoke:

"President Huo, I’ve agreed to everything you wanted. But I also expect you to accept the compromises I want on her behalf. After all, it’s just a divorce; there’s no need to act like sworn enemies and go this far."

Huo Shaoyan slowly removed his hands from his head. He lifted his gaze, his bloodshot Phoenix Eyes locked onto Gu Changfeng unwaveringly.

After a long silence, he said, "Huanhuan has been raised by her since birth. Leave Huanhuan to her."

Having achieved his goal, Gu Changfeng called over Qin Ming to bring the finalized divorce agreement.

He motioned with his chin at Qin Ming and said:

"Hand the divorce agreement to President Huo for review. If there are no changes he wants to make, have him sign it."

Soon enough, Huo Shaoyan received the divorce documents from Qin Ming.

The divorce agreement was only a single sheet.

After reading through it, Huo Shaoyan looked puzzled, even astonished, as he asked Gu Changfeng:

"She only wants the child? Nothing else?"

Gu Changfeng replied casually:

"President Huo, she doesn’t even want you as a person. Do you think she’d care about your filthy money? Asking for custody of both kids would be impossible with you, so she’s stepping back by settling for one."

Huo Shaoyan felt his entire being crumble. His heart felt as though it were being split apart by a rusted axe, painfully and mercilessly, leaving his face pale.

For a long time, he didn’t speak.

Not wanting to drag things on, Gu Changfeng pulled out a black pen and handed it to Huo Shaoyan, urging:

"President Huo, sign it. Once the papers are signed, I’ll arrange for Qin Ming to take you to reunite with your long-lost sister."

It was true that Huo Shaoyan had a sister—a twin, in fact—who had gone missing with him years ago.

Huo Shaoyan had been fortunate enough to be found, but his sister had remained missing all these years.

The Huo Family had devoted tremendous effort into searching for her but found nothing.

Eventually, they gave up, assuming she had passed away.

Who would’ve thought, after so many years, that she would still be alive? And it was sheer fate that she’d been saved by Gu Changfeng.

When they had been abducted by traffickers years ago, Huo Shaoyan had tried resisting multiple times.

One such act of resistance enraged the traffickers so much that they attempted to pour acid on him to destroy him completely.

In a critical moment, his twin sister shielded him and took the hit, sparing him from harm.

Because she suffered extensive burns and lost her value as "merchandise," the traffickers abandoned her halfway through their transactions.

In Huo Shaoyan’s heart, he carried deep guilt for her.

Now, he could only prioritize reuniting with his sister first.

He cherished faint hope that he might reconcile with An Ge someday.

That was Huo Shaoyan’s current thought process.

With that in mind, Huo Shaoyan picked up the pen.

Before signing, he said to Gu Changfeng:

"Add one more clause to the agreement. I promised her ten billion as compensation ..."

Gu Changfeng interrupted him: "President Huo, don’t tarnish her with your money. Money is the last thing I lack."

Huo Shaoyan’s voice darkened. "This clause must be included ..."

Gu Changfeng raised a brow and retorted coldly:

"President Huo, this isn’t about her, but about you. You want to use this ten billion to alleviate your guilt, wipe away past grievances, and ease your conscience. But it’ll only defile her."

Unable to control his emotions any longer, Huo Shaoyan slammed his palm on the table furiously. "That’s your opinion, not hers ..."

Before he could finish his sentence, An Ge, who had unknowingly descended the stairs, appeared in front of them.

She spoke: "His opinion is mine."

Huo Shaoyan’s face turned visibly grim.

An Ge took a pen and signed her name on the divorce agreement.

After signing, she looked at him with cold indifference and said:

"President Huo, sign it. Once it’s signed, we can finalise the divorce procedures today."

Huo Shaoyan stared at her in silence for a long time before he asked hoarsely: "Is there truly no room for reconsideration?"

An Ge replied: "None."

Huo Shaoyan’s heart sank completely.

Gripping the pen tightly, he signed his name on the divorce agreement in anguish, then stood up.

He had lost significant weight recently, his frame noticeably thinner than before.

Looking down at An Ge from his elevated stance, he said to her: "Whenever you wish, we can remarry ..."

An Ge laughed mockingly: "Have all the men on earth died? Eating the same grass once was disgusting enough. Why would I stoop to eating it again?"

Huo Shaoyan’s thin lips pressed together tightly.

An Ge wasn’t done: "President Huo, please take care of your health. My daughter’s illness can’t afford to wait."

A lump formed in Huo Shaoyan’s throat, and he responded: "Let me know once the surgery is scheduled."

An Ge nodded lightly and turned to head upstairs.

Watching her leave without looking back, Huo Shaoyan felt as if something profoundly important within his life had silently crumbled and vanished without a trace.

He desperately wanted to chase after her, to ask again, but his pride and self-esteem restrained him.

Even as his heart ached to the point of breaking, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
