Chapter 328: Chapter 328: Entanglement~

An Ge lowered her gaze slightly, her beautiful eyelashes obscuring her view.

Tears rolled out from her eyes, dripping onto the back of her hand.

She pursed her lips for a while, her voice seemingly calm, "I... feel like I still don’t understand."

Huo Shaoyan laughed, the sound resonating from his throat.

It was very seductive.

He said to An Ge, "That couldn’t be better. This way, we can entangle with each other for a lifetime."

At this moment, Jiang Fengmian was already setting up the IV for Huo Shaoyan.

Before leaving, he took a deep look at An Ge and said:

"He risked his life to save you—was it just to make you owe him an unrepayable debt? An Xiaoge, you should be clearer than anyone,

what is it that he wants most? You have a son and a daughter now, tangled in a web of debts and grievances. Why not just tie yourselves together and live peacefully?"

He paused, "That way, neither of you owes the other anything anymore."

An Ge said nothing.

Jiang Fengmian said no more, left the room after that, and departed from the hospital ward.

Following that, due to blood loss aftereffects, Huo Shaoyan’s head remained heavy and dizzy.

He closed his eyes, trying to alleviate the overwhelming feeling of vertigo.

An Ge knew he was uncomfortable at the moment, so she asked softly, "Would you like some water?"

Huo Shaoyan was indeed a bit thirsty.

He murmured softly, "Alright."

An Ge poured a cup of warm water, inserted a straw, and held it to his lips.

Huo Shaoyan sipped a few mouthfuls from the straw, after which An Ge placed the cup back down.

For what seemed like nearly five minutes, there was silence between them.

An Ge simply stared quietly at Huo Shaoyan as he rested with his eyes closed.

She didn’t know how long it had been before Huo Shaoyan slowly opened his eyes.

His eyes appeared even more bloodshot than before, startling An Ge into a near panic.

She quickly asked, "Are you... not feeling well somewhere?"

Huo Shaoyan’s gaze shifted slightly downward, landing on her hand.

Her left ring finger still bore the pink diamond wedding ring. A subtle trace of shimmering light flickered in his eyes. The corners of his mouth curved into a faint smile as he said, "No, I’m fine."

He said that, and then he grasped her hand.

His palm was no longer warm as it used to be but had a gentle coolness to it, wrapping her small hand entirely in his grasp.

An Ge heard him say, "Once I’m discharged, let’s have the wedding, shall we?"

An Ge froze for a moment, her gaze falling upon his eyes.

She stared at the pair of eyes that seemed to burn with a hidden blue flame for a long while, before softly responding, "Alright."

Huo Shaoyan’s entire chest trembled slightly because of her simple "Alright."

He felt an intense pressure swelling in his eye sockets, believing that he’d finally reached the day of bittersweet relief...

The curve of his lips began to widen gradually.

But soon, a pang of insecurities struck him.

He suppressed his smile and lifted his gaze to meet An Ge’s eyes, then asked:

"Are you just saying yes to calm me down, so I can recover peacefully, agreeing temporarily?"

An Ge interrupted him: "No. I’m willing."

She paused for a moment.

"I’ve thought carefully about the relationship between us. Just like Jiang Fengmian said— we have a son and a daughter,

and you risked your life at the brink of death to protect me. I have no reason to fight with you anymore. So, I’m willing."

Huo Shaoyan gripped her hand tightly, the redness of his eyes more apparent now.

His voice turned somewhat hoarse.

"Actually, if you truly feel you can’t live with me, I won’t force you to stay. But as a woman with two children, you will inevitably be burdened.

If you really want to go, leave the children with me. I’ll give you visitation rights anytime, but custody will belong to me..."

An Ge sensed Huo Shaoyan’s sincere wish to spend a lifetime with her.

She interrupted him softly at that moment,

"I’m not leaving." She paused again, "Huo Shaoyan, let us... live together well from now on."

Her words soaked deep into Huo Shaoyan’s heart, drenching it in tender emotion.

He swallowed the lump in his throat, closed his eyes, suppressing the tears that swirled beneath his lids.

Once more, he tightened his hold on An Ge’s hand. His voice carried an almost enchanting quality,

"Alright. This time, you decided yourself; I didn’t force you!"

An Ge murmured an "En," "Focus on your recovery, I’ll stay here to care for you."

Perhaps having received the answer he most desired, Huo Shaoyan succumbed to his weakness and soon fell into deep sleep.

An Ge stayed in his hospital room until late morning, then returned to her own ward.

After having lunch with Huo Huaisang, Gu Changfeng’s subordinate Qin Ming dropped by.

Qin Ming brought numerous rare and precious health supplements, many of which couldn’t even be obtained in the market despite their exorbitant prices.

An Ge was astonished by this and said to Qin Ming:

"These are too valuable, I... can’t accept them. Please relay a message to Mr. Gu for me, I deeply appreciate his kindness..."

Qin Ming replied, "Ms. An Ge, I’m just following orders. If you want to return the items, then I’ll have to trouble you to personally return them to our boss."

With that, Qin Ming left An Ge’s hospital ward.

Staring at the costly health supplements, An Ge thought for a moment and then called Gu Changfeng.

At that moment, Gu Changfeng had just arrived at the entrance to An Muxin’s hospital room.

He had come today specifically to settle accounts with An Muxin.

Because of An Ge’s phone call, his steps halted in front of An Muxin’s hospital room door.

He quickly answered her call, his voice calm and composed, "Hello?"

"Mr. Gu..."

Gu Changfeng raised an eyebrow, interrupting her warmly, "Didn’t I tell you to call me Sixth Brother when no one else was around?"

An Ge instantly felt at a loss on how to respond to his remark.

Gu Changfeng understood the overall intent of An Ge’s call and continued speaking,

"If you find the supplements your Sixth Brother sent unworthy, you’re free to toss them away."

He paused.

"What kind of person takes back gifts they’ve given? Wouldn’t that be a slap in my face?"

An Ge bit her lip slightly, "They’re... too expensive..."

Gu Changfeng chuckled and said:

"You calling me ’Sixth Brother’—just for that sound I enjoy hearing—makes those supplements nothing at all. Or perhaps, do you think my sincerity is cheap?"

He paused.

"So, at the end of the day, you just don’t want to be friends with me, right? Don’t forget—I mentioned to you before,

that your son Huo Huaisang’s illness was caused entirely by An Muxin. Are you not interested in getting hold of the evidence that she harmed Young Master Huo?"

An Ge fell silent because of Gu Changfeng’s words.

Gu Changfeng didn’t intend to make things difficult for her, his tone softening then,

"Take care of yourself and don’t feel any psychological burden."

He paused.

"Remember, I don’t just want to be kind to you. I see us as mutual partners. Now that you have President Huo as your backer,

I want to use you to establish ties with him, and then join hands with President Huo to avenge my family’s destruction."

Gu Changfeng inadvertently mentioned avenging a destroyed family.

These words were highly sensitive.

Almost immediately after his words fell, An Ge hurriedly asked, "A destroyed family?"

Realizing his slip, Gu Changfeng replied, "Take care and rest. I’ll visit you when I have free time."

With that, Gu Changfeng ended the call with An Ge.

After hanging up, he pushed open the door to enter An Muxin’s hospital room.

Inside, besides An Muxin, there was Cui Zhu, who cared for her.

Both An Muxin and Cui Zhu were visibly frightened at the sight of Gu Changfeng now.

Last night, Gu Changfeng’s kick left Cui Zhu unable to even get back on her feet at the time.

Seeing Gu Changfeng at the moment, a deep fear filled her eyes, and she instinctively backed away several steps.

Her voice even trembled:

"...Gu Changfeng, I warn you, you’re no longer Miss’s bodyguard. Barging into her hospital room like this is illegal. You’d better leave, or I’ll call the police..."

Before she could finish speaking, Gu Changfeng coldly shouted, "Get out—"

Cui Zhu’s voice instantly stuck in her throat, unable to utter another word.

She glanced back at An Muxin.

Receiving a subtle signal from An Muxin, Cui Zhu quickly understood and prepared to leave the ward to inform An Jifeng.

However, as soon as she stepped out of the room, she was subdued by Gu Changfeng’s subordinates stationed outside.

Meanwhile, inside the room.

Gu Changfeng pulled up a chair and sat down at the edge of An Muxin’s bed.

As he sat, An Muxin shrank away in fear toward the far side of the bed, terror evident in her entire demeanor.

Her voice trembled with fear:

"Gu Changfeng, if it weren’t for the leverage you hold against me, I swear I’d have already found a way to have someone kill you..."

Gu Changfeng listened to her words without haste and, with deliberate movement, pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from his pocket.

He tipped out a cigarette, placed it between his lips, and lit it with the lighter.

As he inhaled lightly, wisps and curls of smoke slowly exhaled through his nostrils.

Under An Muxin’s gaze, his already somewhat grotesque and twisted face appeared more like a demon bent on claiming souls, chilling her blood.

In those fleeting seconds, she could almost smell the stench of death.

Her tears fell in panic, her emotions crumbled:

"Gu Changfeng... What exactly do you want? I’m asking you—what do you want? If you keep pushing me like this, I swear I’ll find a way to get rid of you..."

Gu Changfeng remained entirely composed in the face of her frantic screams.

After finishing the cigarette, he extinguished the scarlet butt with one hand and stood up.

When he suddenly rose, the towering shadow of his figure completely engulfed An Muxin, leaving her gasping in fear.

All sounds strangled in her throat.

Gu Changfeng stared at her for a while, then extended a hand toward the shriveled figure of An Muxin in the corner:

"Crawl over on your own, don’t wait for me to drag you."

An Muxin hesitated.

Gu Changfeng laughed—a chilling, horrifying laughter.

The sound of his laughter sent shivers down An Muxin’s scalp.

"Gu Changfeng... you... weren’t you the one who wanted me to give birth to your son? I beg you, don’t treat me like this,

as long as you treat me the way you used to, indulging my every wish, I swear I’ll take care of the baby and give you your own son."

Gu Changfeng burst out in louder laughter because of her words.

An Muxin broke down further, "Gu Changfeng, are you freaking trying to push me to abort your child?"

Gu Changfeng stepped forward abruptly, his knee sinking into the edge of the bed, then grabbed An Muxin’s wrist and yanked her down.

She didn’t even have time to react before her body was forcefully slammed onto the floor.

Immediately, one of her palms was stomped down onto the marble floor by the man’s pointed leather shoe.
