Chapter 322: Chapter 322: Madly in Love

Fu Rou was instantly at a loss for words.

She remained silent for a moment before speaking:

"What kind of attitude you want from me, I will show that attitude. So, can we meet?"

Fu Rou’s words were particularly sincere, and An Ge said helplessly, "Alright, you can come over."

After ending the call with Fu Rou, An Ge lifted her head and saw Lu Huai’an running toward the emergency room entrance while carrying a woman in his arms.

An Ge thought something had happened to Gu Ru Yi, so she hurriedly followed him.

To her surprise, the person turned out to be Gu Qinghuan.

On the way to the hospital, Gu Qinghuan had already regained consciousness. Realizing that Gu Ru Yi posed a threat to her position, she kept acting unconscious.

Now that she had been brought to the emergency room, she feared the doctors might expose her act, so she took the initiative to "wake up."

Gu Qinghuan’s eyes were very red, but a fleeting look of triumph flashed beneath them.

Of course, the smile vanished as quickly as it appeared.

She looked at Lu Huai’an with tear-filled eyes and said:

"When are you planning to divorce Gu Ru Yi?"

Lu Huai’an’s voice was devoid of any discernible emotion:

"Gu Qinghuan, we’ve already broken up. Don’t keep this nonsense going..."

Gu Qinghuan’s tears began to fall, but the corners of her mouth carried a strange smile.

She looked at Lu Huai’an and said:

"Yes, we broke up. But isn’t it true that you’re still leaving your new bride behind because of me?"

Lu Huai’an was too indifferent to respond to her provocations.

Instead, he turned to ask the emergency room doctor beside them: "How is she?"

The ER doctor had already conducted a preliminary examination of Gu Qinghuan and said to Lu Huai’an:

"Her vital signs are stable; there’s nothing particularly alarming. The sudden fainting, based on your description just now, was likely due to temporary emotional agitation. Avoid overstimulating the patient. It’s essentially not a big issue."

Lu Huai’an nodded slightly, "Thank you."

After speaking, he lowered his head and asked Gu Qinghuan, who was sitting on the emergency bed, "Can you walk on your own now?"

Gu Qinghuan had gone to great lengths to pull Lu Huai’an away from Gu Ru Yi. She was determined to seize this opportunity to stay entangled with Lu Huai’an.

So, she told Lu Huai’an, "I still feel dizzy; I can’t walk. Can you carry me?"

Lu Huai’an let out a faint "Hmm" before bending over and carrying her horizontally.

As he turned around with Gu Qinghuan in his arms, his eyes met An Ge’s in the air.

Lu Huai’an was visibly surprised to see An Ge here; his brows furrowed slightly. "Are you unwell?"

Lu Huai’an hadn’t had the time recently to check on An Ge’s affairs, and An Ge hadn’t informed him about her current situation either, so he had no idea what had happened to her.

An Ge replied flatly, "Is the Third Miss Gu alright?"

Gu Qinghuan was third in rank among the women in her family, which was why An Ge referred to her as Third Miss Gu.

Lu Huai’an quickly answered An Ge’s question: "She’s fine. What about you?"

As Lu Huai’an spoke, his gaze fell on An Ge’s arm, which was wrapped in bandages.

"What happened to your arm? Who did this? Was it Huo Shaoyan?"

An Ge didn’t answer his question directly and instead said, "After you settle Third Miss Gu, come find me. I need to talk to you."

Gu Qinghuan was not pleased about An Ge seeking Lu Huai’an alone.

So, Gu Qinghuan frowned and said to An Ge:

"Mrs. Huo, as a married woman, it’s best for you to keep your distance from Chairman Lu. I’ve heard that President Huo is famously temperamental,

If he learns you’ve met with Chairman Lu alone, I fear he might act out of jealousy and hurt Chairman Lu..."

After Gu Qinghuan finished speaking, An Ge replied coldly:

"If that’s how you see it, then I’ll take a few minutes of your time now to say what I need to Chairman Lu."

Gu Qinghuan raised an eyebrow. "What is it? Go ahead and say it."

An Ge curled her lips slightly:

"Third Miss Gu, why don’t you step aside for this conversation? I’m worried that if you hear it, you might be too emotionally stimulated!"

Gu Qinghuan could sense An Ge’s hostility.

She frowned even more deeply, raising her voice slightly:

"Mrs. Huo, I doubt anything in this world could upset me more than Gu Ru Yi marrying Lu Huai’an. If you have something to say, just say it."

An Ge curled her lips again, withdrew her gaze from Gu Qinghuan, and let it fall on Lu Huai’an’s face. She said slowly and clearly:

"I’ll only say this once. Listen carefully. Do you know that Gu Ru Yi had abortions for you twice? The most recent one was three months ago!"

Lu Huai’an’s pupils contracted sharply, but aside from that, his expression remained neutral.

It was the woman in his arms, Gu Qinghuan, who became emotionally turbulent.

Gu Qinghuan exclaimed in disbelief:

"That’s impossible! If Gu Ru Yi were pregnant with Lu Huai’an’s child, she would have forced him to marry her long ago instead of waiting until now..."

An Ge interrupted her:

"Why is it impossible? Just as you were sure Lu Huai’an would marry you at first, yet in the end, he dumped you for Gu Ru Yi, who is more beneficial to his career development."

With those words, Gu Qinghuan was so angry that she couldn’t say another word.

At that moment, another patient was wheeled into the emergency room.

An Ge glanced at the woman being pushed in and was shocked. "Gu Ru Yi?"

Because of her words, both Lu Huai’an and Gu Qinghuan immediately turned their attention to the unconscious woman lying on the stretcher.

But they only had time to catch a glimpse before Gu Ru Yi was wheeled into the rescue room.

Out of nowhere, Lu Huai’an felt a sharp pang in his chest, as if it were pricked by a hooked blade. His heart felt particularly uneasy.

Without a second thought, he set Gu Qinghuan down from his arms.

But as he strode anxiously toward the rescue room, Gu Qinghuan grabbed his wrist.

Gu Qinghuan looked at him with red-rimmed eyes,

"If you leave me here now, we’ll be strangers forever, and my life or death will be none of your concern."

Gu Qinghuan had once attempted suicide after breaking up with Lu Huai’an.

So her implied threat was essentially leveraging her life to control Lu Huai’an.

Lu Huai’an did have some residual feelings for her, and her words halted his steps.

Gu Qinghuan clung to his arm, looked at him with pained eyes, and said:

"You’re not a doctor. Staying here won’t accomplish anything. Take me back to the hotel first, then come back later..."

After a pause, "The hotel isn’t far; it won’t delay you for long."

An Ge could hardly bear to listen to her anymore.

An Ge frowned and mockingly said to Lu Huai’an:

"You complained before about how Huo Shaoyan is such a scumbag. Turns out, you’re no better."

Gu Qinghuan abruptly took out a box cutter from somewhere and pressed it to her neck. In a burst of emotion, she shouted at Lu Huai’an:

"One last time: will you stay here with her, or will you take me back to the hotel?"

Gu Qinghuan was fiercely determined; her neck quickly broke skin under the sharp blade, and blood began to seep out.

Lu Huai’an’s face changed drastically, and he ultimately gave in: "I’ll take you back to the hotel."

After saying this, he looked at An Ge and said: "Please keep an eye on things here for me. I’ll be back soon."

Lu Huai’an quickly left with Gu Qinghuan.

An Ge watched their hurried departing figures, her emotions an intricate web of complexity.

She unexpectedly felt a surge of sympathy for Gu Ru Yi.

Gu Ru Yi was utterly besotted with Lu Huai’an; her love was so humbling it seemed to disappear into the dust.

Even as she lay unconscious in the rescue room, her husband, Lu Huai’an, left her behind without giving it a thought.

An Ge couldn’t understand what drove Gu Ru Yi to persist so stubbornly in being with Lu Huai’an.

Fortunately, it was just a false alarm, as Gu Ru Yi soon regained consciousness.

However, her complexion was still pale.

An Ge walked over to her bedside and said, "You fainted from the pain of a ruptured eardrum."

Gu Ru Yi’s voice was a little hoarse, "It’s nothing serious..."

Before she could finish speaking, her young female secretary stormed in, angrily recounting everything that had transpired in the rescue room to Gu Ru Yi.

"President Gu, I’m so furious! Chairman Lu... How could he ignore you for the sake of Third Miss Gu? You were the one who needed care more urgently.

And on top of that, Mrs. Huo already told him you’d had two abortions for his sake, but he still..."

Gu Ru Yi appeared calm, though her gaze seemed darker than before.

She looked down slightly to hide the fleeting pang of bitterness in her eyes.

When she raised her head again, her expression was completely subdued.

She said to her secretary: "Xiao Zhao, step outside for now. I’d like to talk to Mrs. Huo privately."

Following her instructions, Xiao Zhao walked out of the room.

Afterward, An Ge turned to Gu Ru Yi and apologized:

"I’m sorry I couldn’t keep this secret for you... I thought that bastard Lu Huai’an would show you some mercy for your sacrifices, but..."

Gu Ru Yi smiled bitterly:

"You see now why I’ve never brought up the subject of miscarriages, don’t you? Because I know better than anyone else,

nothing would make him extend even a shred of kindness to me. It would only make me appear even more pathetic and contemptible."

After a pause, she added:

"But I don’t blame you—not in the slightest. At least you’ve made me see the true nature of this relationship. I... I’ve given up hope."

An Ge felt a pang of sadness.

That sadness was intertwined with pity for Gu Ru Yi as well as her own circumstances.

She realized her relationship with Huo Shaoyan was just as agonizing.

An Ge stayed in Gu Ru Yi’s hospital room for about fifteen minutes before leaving because Fu Rou called her.

However, when she stepped out of Gu Ru Yi’s room, she ran into Lu Huai’an at the door.

Lu Huai’an didn’t look well. He lowered his gaze and asked An Ge, "How is she?"

Before An Ge could answer, Gu Ru Yi’s voice came from inside, "Lu Huai’an, come in. Let’s talk about the divorce."

An Ge wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but for a split second, it seemed like Lu Huai’an’s entire body tensed up.

Soon, Lu Huai’an stepped aside, turned to face her, and pushed open the door to enter.

The hospital room door closed behind An Ge.

An Ge wasn’t one to eavesdrop, so she walked away.

She originally intended to return to her own hospital room, but at the corridor corner, she ran into An Muxin and Fu Rou.

On the phone, Fu Rou had told An Ge she was coming with Huo Huaisang, but when An Ge didn’t see him, her brows immediately furrowed.

An Ge’s voice turned chilly: "Lady Fu, where is my son?"
