Disheartened, I Fled from the CEO with Our Babies
Chapter 295: Disturbed the Fetal Qi

Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Disturbed the Fetal Qi

An Ge was stopped outside the doors by the security guards of the Biological Experimental Base.

Having been turned away, she had no choice but to call Huo Shaoyan’s cell phone.

Even though Huo Shaoyan answered, his attitude remained aloof, "Didn’t I tell you not to come?"

An Ge felt a sharp pang in her heart, like something had pierced it, causing her some pain.

She pressed her lips together and said, "But my people are already at the entrance of the Biological Experimental Base..."

Huo Shaoyan interrupted her,

"Go back." After a pause, he added, "Huai Shang needs a whole night of intravenous fluids after the serum treatment; I don’t have time to entertain you."

An Ge took a deep breath, "Huo Shaoyan..." Her voice was cut off by the abrupt dial-tone.

Suddenly, a fierce storm blew up, and An Ge’s slight figure swayed visibly, as if she might be swept away by the wind.

Anna supported her wavering figure and said, "Let’s go back." After a pause, she added, "The weather forecast says there will be a typhoon passing this evening."

Just as they were talking, An Muxin walked out from inside.

She was followed by her bodyguard, Gu Changfeng.

An Muxin walked up to An Ge, looked at her, and sneered coldly, "Mrs. Huo, how pitiful you are. Clearly, that’s your own son, but you can’t even see him now."

An Ge’s fingers tightened, her eyes bloodshot as she glared at her.

An Muxin, oblivious to this, became even more arrogant.

She said, "Tsk, why are you looking at me like that? If you have the guts, go and tell President Huo the truth. Let’s see if he believes you."

An Ge remained silent, her face growing paler.

An Muxin continued, her tone increasingly obnoxious,

"You’ve deceived President Huo time and again. Before him now, your credibility is almost nonexistent. Even if you tell him the truth, he wouldn’t believe you."

After pausing briefly, she taunted with a hidden meaning,

"Look at you, you look so sick as if you’re about to pass out any minute, and yet President Huo feels no sympathy for you whatsoever. How pitiful it is for you to be Mrs. Huo."

Almost immediately after her words fell, An Ge raised her hand and slapped her.

This slap was not light, almost knocking An Muxin off her feet.

Coincidentally, Fu Rou appeared at that exact moment.

Seeing Fu Rou approach, An Muxin quickly clutched her abdomen and slumped to the ground, crying to Fu Rou,

"Aunt Fu... I... My stomach hurts, I think I’ve disturbed the fetus... Save my child..."

Upon witnessing the scene, Fu Rou’s fury escalated; without any hesitation, she raised her hand to slap An Ge’s cheek,

"You bitch, if something happens to Muxin, I won’t let you off!"

Fu Rou’s slap was swift and vicious but ultimately never landed on An Ge’s cheek. Instead, it was intercepted by a hand that came across.

Everyone looked at the hand in surprise.

No one expected that the person stopping the slap would be An Muxin’s bodyguard, Gu Changfeng.

An Muxin looked at Gu Changfeng in disbelief, angry, "Gu Changfeng, what exactly are you doing?"

Gu Changfeng released Fu Rou’s wrist at this moment.

He leisurely pulled out a cigarette and bit it in his mouth, lighting it with a lighter.

After exhaling a swirling puff of smoke, he spoke calmly,

"Miss, not just anyone can slap Mrs. Huo’s face. If something were to happen from that slap, what if President Huo turns against us?"

An Muxin gritted her teeth, "You..."

Gu Changfeng continued,

"Miss, taking a slap from Ms. An might not necessarily be a bad thing. Think about it: you can go to President Huo and complain, letting him stand up for you afterward. Wouldn’t that be even more satisfying than slapping Ms. An yourself?"

With those words, Gu Changfeng turned his gaze to Fu Rou and said,

"Lady Fu, I’ve heard your relationship with President Huo hasn’t been great, and Mrs. Huo is the woman President Huo went to great lengths to marry. Wouldn’t hitting her worsen your already precarious relationship with your son?"

Fu Rou was speechless.

This was when Gu Changfeng flicked the ash from his cigarette and rested his gaze on An Ge, whose complexion appeared particularly pale.

He gestured to An Ge with his chin, suggesting, "Ms. An, shall we talk privately?"

An Ge nodded once, "Alright."

Gu Changfeng pointed toward a fountain not far away and said, "Let’s go there."

A minute later, An Ge looked at the tall, upright man standing before her and asked, "Mr. Gu, what do you want to talk to me about?"

Given Gu Changfeng’s recent assistance and his attitude towards An Muxin, An Ge realized Gu Changfeng was no ordinary bodyguard.

So she respectfully called him Mr. Gu now.

Gu Changfeng found the title amusing.

For the first time, a hint of a smile touched his typically impassive face.

He said, "I just wanted to let you know that Young Master Huo is doing fine; there’s no need to worry."

An Ge, puzzled, asked, "Why are you willing to help me?"

Gu Changfeng responded dryly, "Didn’t I tell you your eyes remind me of my long-lost sister?"

An Ge didn’t believe his nonsense and interrupted him, "Mr. Gu, I want the truth."

Gu Changfeng laughed out loud this time.

He leaned in slightly, moving closer, and whispered teasingly in her ear, "Do you really want the truth?"

The man’s scent was pleasant, fresh, like soap.

An Ge liked this smell.

But the man’s proximity made her uneasy, and she stepped back a little, "I want the truth."

He smirked, "Call me Brother, and I’ll tell you!"

An Ge instinctively felt he was toying with her, but her desire for the truth was too strong, so she called him "Brother."

Her voice was flat and devoid of emotion, but the word "brother" hit Gu Changfeng’s heart like tumultuous waves, wrapping his heart in an intense, warm softness.

After a long pause, Gu Changfeng finally settled into a semblance of calm and said, "Call me once more." He paused, "Call me... Sixth Brother."

Upon hearing this, An Ge’s eyes widened in shock.

Gu Changfeng raised his eyebrows and asked, "What? Don’t want to?"

An Ge swallowed hard, "... No." She paused, "Six... Sixth Brother."

The streetlights were somewhat dim.

She couldn’t see the tall man’s eyes clearly, but An Ge still caught the fleeting moist redness in his eyes.

Something clicked in her mind, "How are you related to Qin Jingzhi, the sixth son of the Qin Family?"

An Ge’s ability to accurately call out the name Qin Jingzhi startled Gu Changfeng slightly.

He squinted his eyes, considering for a moment before saying, "I don’t know him."

After a few seconds’ pause, he leaned in again, pulling a piece of her hair without her noticing.

An Ge was focused on his expressions and missed the action.

She looked into his eyes, "Can you now tell me why you’re helping me?"

After safely stowing the hair he had pulled, Gu Changfeng softly said to An Ge,

"Because I have an irreconcilable vendetta with the An Family, and I want revenge. Do you understand?"

An Ge was shaken, "An irreconcilable vendetta?"

Seeing the soft expression on her face, mirroring the innocent look of the little girl with pigtails from his memories, Gu Changfeng could hardly resist lifting his hand to pinch her cheek but managed to control himself.

He distanced himself from her, saying, "The murder of one’s parents... does that count?"

The shock left An Ge speechless for a long while.

Gu Changfeng continued, "Do you have anything else you want to ask? I feel a connection with you and can tell you more."

An Ge asked, "Aren’t you afraid I’ll report to An Muxin what you told me and have you eliminated?"

Gu Changfeng smiled, "You won’t."

An Ge, "Why are you so confident?"

Gu Changfeng leaned in again, whispering in her ear,

"Because you’ll hate the people of the An Family just as I do. Young Master Huo is your biological son, right? I can tell you, his illness is artificially caused by An Muxin."

He paused, "So, you won’t."

An Ge grew emotional, "Can you provide me with substantive, effective evidence of what you just said?"

Gu Changfeng declined, "I can’t, not for now." He paused, "Go back, a typhoon will hit tonight."

With that, Gu Changfeng turned and walked away.

Afterward, Anna approached the complexly-affected An Ge and said,

"An Muxin’s bodyguard seems far from simple. What did he say to you?"

Suppressing the turbulent emotions in her heart, An Ge replied, "Let’s talk in the car."

...

**

At the other end, seeing Gu Changfeng return, An Muxin glared at him fiercely, "What did you just talk to her about?"

Gu Changfeng’s face showed no emotion, and his eyes were devoid of any particular sentiment as he looked at An Muxin.

His voice was indifferent, "I was, of course, helping you persuade her to leave, what else?"

An Muxin was skeptical, "Do you really have such goodwill?"

Gu Changfeng’s thin lips curled as he leaned down to whisper in her ear,

"Certainly. I’m most skilled at helping others, especially in borrowing seeds."

"Muxin, what are you two talking about?"

Fu Rou detected some ambiguity in Gu Changfeng and An Muxin’s behavior and frowned.

She expressed her dissatisfaction to An Muxin,

"Ah Yan has already decided to divorce An Ge in half a year and marry you. You’d better keep some distance from other men; even if he’s your bodyguard, you should maintain some propriety."

An Muxin felt a little displeased by Fu Rou’s scolding.

Her brows furrowed, and she said to Fu Rou,

"Aunt Fu, aren’t your words a bit too harsh? I’m just interacting normally with my bodyguard, and that’s already considered inappropriate to you. Then what about Huo Shaoyan and An Ge? Why can’t I keep my dignity intact?"

Fu Rou was immediately at a loss for words.

An Muxin continued,

"Aunt Fu, ask yourself, haven’t I been decent enough to you and President Huo? Over the years, even if I haven’t achieved much, haven’t I worked hard? Every time Young Master Huo got sick, I willingly stepped forward to donate blood to him.

Now that I’m pregnant with President Huo’s child, I’m still acting as Young Master Huo’s living blood bank. You saying this to me really breaks my heart."

Just as she was speaking, Huo Shaoyan’s call came in.

An Muxin answered the call, "Brother Yan?"

At this moment, Huo Shaoyan stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the entrance of the Biological Experimental Base.

Not seeing An Ge, he asked An Muxin, "Where is she?"
