Disheartened, I Fled from the CEO with Our Babies -
Chapter 288: Emotions.
Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Emotions.
An Ge stared blankly at the ceiling for a while when her phone rang. It was Mrs. Huo calling. She quickly composed herself, took a few seconds to steady her emotions, and then answered Mrs. Huo’s call.
"Hello?" Her voice was somewhat despondent.
Mrs. Huo immediately frowned, "Did you have another fight with Ah Yan?"
An Ge didn’t hide it, "There was some conflict."
Mrs. Huo sighed, saying, "I was quite happy about you and Ah Yan getting remarried today, but I just heard from Fu Rou that An Muxin is pregnant... What is Huo Shaoyan’s attitude towards this?"
An Ge replied truthfully, "Huaisang’s illness can only be treated with An Muxin’s serum, and she’s using that to threaten Huo Shaoyan."
Mrs. Huo felt increasingly uneasy and said, "Although Huaisang’s illness can only be treated with An Muxin’s serum, she shouldn’t resort to such means. You and Ah Yan are lawfully married now, and you already have a son and a daughter. What will it mean if she gives birth to a child? Her intentions are clearly not good, and An Muxin must not be indulged like this..."
An Ge said, "Madam, these things don’t matter to me. The only thing I care about is that my daughters are safe and healthy. An Muxin’s pregnancy doesn’t affect me much."
Mrs. Huo sighed deeply, her mood tangled as she said, "Girl, you’re mistaken. If An Muxin really gives birth to this child, there will be big trouble in the future. The An Family’s influence is considerable, and they might force Huo Shaoyan to divorce you and elevate An Muxin. Just her child alone will take away everything that rightly belongs to Huaisang and Huanhuan. Are you willing to let her illegitimate child share the inheritance with them?"
An Ge bit her lip, saying, "I only want my children to be safe, healthy, and carefree. Wealth is not what I’m after."
Mrs. Huo didn’t see it that way, "That’s your perspective, and I can’t change your mind. I called to seek your opinion because I want to talk to Huo Shaoyan about the children. I want to tell him the truth; he’s their father, and he has the right to know..."
An Ge pondered for a moment before saying, "If you really want to talk to him about the truth of what happened back then, then go ahead."
She paused, "But it would be best not to do it today. I’ve just had a fight with him, and his emotions are quite turbulent. He might not listen to anything. Even if what you say is true, he may not believe it. After all, I’ve manipulated the DNA paternity test results several times before, making him more inclined to trust the DNA results. You should wait until he’s completely calm before talking to him; it might be better then."
Mrs. Huo agreed with An Ge, finding her words sensible.
After thinking about it, she said, "I found out that Huanhuan and Huaisang’s conditions are stable for the next few days. The doctors say they might be discharged in three days. When they are discharged, bring them to [Huo Mansion]."
She paused, hinting at something, "We can talk openly in front of the children. What do you think?"
An Ge bit her lip, hesitating for a few seconds before agreeing, "Okay."
An Ge originally didn’t want Huo Shaoyan to know the whole truth.
However, since An Muxin already knew the full truth, it was better for Huo Shaoyan to know the truth, rather than let An Muxin secretly manipulate things. She could show the evidence she had collected against An Muxin harming Huo Huaisang to Huo Shaoyan, allowing him to use it to make An Muxin willingly provide the serum.
Overall, this was the current situation. At this point, she could only make the truth public.
An Ge told Mrs. Huo, "Alright, you can handle it then. The children already know the truth."
Mrs. Huo was surprised, "You mean Huaisang knows too?"
An Ge replied with a nod, "I told Huaisang a long time ago that I am his mother."
Mrs. Huo looked quite worried, saying, "Huaisang is quite thoughtful. Despite such a big issue, he kept silent about it. Alas, it’s because we didn’t take good care of Huaisang, which led to him bearing such heavy burdens at such a young age."
After chatting with An Ge for a while more, Mrs. Huo ended the call. After the call ended, she walked away from the small pavilion by the lake, leaning on her cane. As soon as she left, a dark figure emerged from the shadow of a tree.
An Baoying watched Mrs. Huo’s departing figure with a malicious glint in her eyes. She took out her phone and called An Muxin, "I just eavesdropped on part of the conversation between the old woman and that bitch An Ge. It seems they plan to tell Huo Shaoyan the whole truth after the two bastards are discharged. Not only that, but it sounds like the old lady doesn’t intend to acknowledge the child of Huo’s you’re carrying. She likely wants you to get an abortion..."
[An Muxin, at Fengqiao Villa], became so enraged after hearing An Baoying’s words that she immediately got out of bed, "What did you say? That old hag actually wants to abort my child?"
An Baoying replied, "That’s about it. She said that bitch An Ge already gave Huo Shaoyan a pair of twins, and they’ve remarried, making them legally legitimate. Your child is just an illegitimate one that shouldn’t be born..."
An Baoying’s words further inflamed An Muxin’s murderous anger.
An Muxin, after much contemplation, told An Baoying, "Although the old woman is healthy, she’s plagued with geriatric diseases. Silencing her permanently is actually quite simple."
An Baoying asked, "How do you want me to assist?"
An Muxin said, "Have your father Lee Dahai come find me tomorrow; I’ll give him a Leisure Pill. Have him bring it to you, and make sure to find the right time to give it to the old hag. Once she takes it, it will cause her to have a stroke, and whether she lives or dies, her time will be limited."
An Baoying thought for a moment, "Alright, I’ll follow your lead."
An Muxin curled her lips, "Remember, not only do we want to keep the old hag from speaking the truth, but we also want to use her death to frame that bitch An Ge. Do you understand?"
An Baoying replied, "Don’t worry. I know what to do."
On the other end.
After An Ge ended the call with Mrs. Huo, Huo Shaoyan came out of the bathroom, freshly showered. His expression hadn’t improved at all compared to when he entered; it was still very unpleasant.
An Ge watched him for a moment and was about to say something when she saw Huo Shaoyan start dressing.
They were staying in a luxury room, which had spare clothes available.
Seeing this, An Ge frowned, "Didn’t you say you’d stay here tonight?"
Huo Shaoyan looked at her with a cold demeanor, "I planned to, but I don’t want to sleep in the same room with you right now."
An Ge’s heart tightened.
Huo Shaoyan continued, "You’re starting to disgust me. Do you realize that?"
An Ge’s fingers curled up, and she bit her lip, ultimately saying nothing.
Huo Shaoyan left the room shortly afterward.
The next day, he returned around ten in the morning.
An Ge had just finished a phone call with Zhao Xiaoliu.
On the phone, Zhao Xiaoliu told her that An Muxin met with Lee Dahai, and they separated hastily after just a minute.
After listening to Zhao Xiaoliu’s report, An Ge instructed him to follow Lee Dahai immediately and find out what mischief he was up to for An Muxin.
As soon as she hung up with Zhao Xiaoliu, Huo Shaoyan pushed open the door and entered.
He must have had a good night’s sleep, because aside from his icy demeanor, he appeared quite refreshed.
He glanced at her and said coldly, "So, have you decided on what I asked you to consider last night? Can you give me a clear answer now?"
Thinking about the agreement she had with Mrs. Huo, An Ge said to Huo Shaoyan, "Give me three more days. Three days from now, when the kids are discharged, I will give you an answer. Is that alright?"
In three days, Mrs. Huo would reveal the truth to the man. By then, knowing the truth, he probably wouldn’t press her to have children again.
Unaware of An Ge’s inner thoughts, Huo Shaoyan’s phoenix eyes, deep and unreadable, rested on her. "Are you sure you’ll have an answer in three days?"
An Ge replied with certainty, "I’m sure. Having children is a major life decision. Asking for three more days to consider it isn’t unreasonable, is it?"
"Not unreasonable."
For Huo Shaoyan, An Ge beginning to consider the matter was a good start. So, his demeanor softened slightly toward her.
He added, "The staff told me you didn’t go out for breakfast this morning. Why didn’t you eat right away after getting up?"
An Ge, wanting to ease the tension between them, carefully chose her words. "I wanted to wait and have breakfast with you." She paused, "Have you had breakfast?"
Early in the morning, Huo Shaoyan went for a 30-kilometer cross-country run with Jiang Fengmian. After running and showering, he came straight to find An Ge, so he hadn’t eaten breakfast.
"No," he said. "Let’s go. We’ll eat breakfast, and then we’ll head back."
An Ge nodded in agreement.
Then, they left the room one after the other.
When they reached the dining area, Jiang Fengmian and Jiang Qingyi were also having breakfast.
Jiang Qingyi was throwing a temper tantrum at Jiang Fengmian, "Jiang Fengmian, I’m warning you for the last time: If you don’t let me go back to the city today, I’ll start a hunger strike and die right here!"
To this, Jiang Fengmian, while peeling an eggshell, didn’t even lift an eyebrow. But he did respond to her, "A hunger strike? You’ll look awful by the time you die. You love your appearance so much; do you really want to die as a dried-up, rough-skinned mess?"
Jiang Qingyi’s eyes widened instantly.
Jiang Fengmian tossed the peeled egg onto her plate, his tone unchanged, "If you want to leave here, you can."
Hearing this, Jiang Qingyi’s eyes lit up, "What are the conditions?"
Jiang Fengmian said, "Of course, there are conditions. They’re simple: Get a marriage certificate with me."
Jiang Qingyi was utterly stunned, her pupils shrinking dramatically.
