Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Call Husband~

At this moment, a rather snarky woman’s voice came from not far behind Huo Shaoyan and the others.

"Well, who do we have here? Isn’t this Ms. An from the Imperial Capital An Family? How is it that after a few years, you’ve ended up like this? Pregnant before marriage? And the child belongs to a married man? Haha, this is killing me."

The one speaking was Jiang Qingyi.

Jiang Qingyi had a grudge against An Muxin from when they were young.

Back then, Jiang Qingyi was also very passionate about dance and her talent was not inferior to An Muxin’s. But because An Muxin deliberately caused trouble, she was pushed off the dance stage, breaking her leg. Although the bone eventually healed, she could never return to the stage.

So, Jiang Qingyi detested An Muxin. When she accidentally overheard the conversation between An Muxin and Huo Shaoyan, she obviously couldn’t pass up the chance to ridicule An Muxin.

An Muxin was livid at her words, her face turning an ashen hue, and she retorted,

"You have the nerve to mock me? Have you looked in the mirror lately? Do you know why Tang Jiuze originally dumped you and was determined to divorce you? It’s because you had an affair with your foster brother Jiang Fengmian, and Tang Jiuze caught you red-handed..."

Before An Muxin could even finish her sentence, Jiang Fengmian stormed over and interrupted her harshly.

Jiang Fengmian’s voice was cold, "Have you been eating shit? Spouting nonsense everywhere?"

Jiang Fengmian had no patience for An Muxin like Huo Shaoyan did.

His face was grim, the fury smoldering beneath his glasses scared An Muxin into immediately shutting her mouth.

Jiang Fengmian continued, warning An Muxin, "Mind your own business. I’m not Huo Shaoyan, who lets you run wild!"

After Jiang Fengmian finished speaking, Jiang Qingyi set her gaze on his face, frowning as she asked, "What did she just say? What does it mean? I don’t understand any of it. I divorced Tang Jiuze? I had an affair with you? How come I, being one of the people involved, am completely unaware of this?"

After divorcing Tang Jiuze back then, Jiang Qingyi developed severe depression, with several suicide attempts.

Jiang Fengmian, wanting to free her from the pain, found a psychologist to erase her memories of the time she spent with Tang Jiuze.

This led to gaps in her memory, leaving Jiang Qingyi very puzzled now.

But Jiang Fengmian didn’t plan on telling her the truth now.

His expression remained icy as he said coldly, "You and An Muxin have had a grudge since childhood. You believe the nonsense she spouts?"

Jiang Qingyi was no fool; she could tell whether it was nonsense or if there was some truth to it.

She furrowed her brows even deeper, angrily confronting Jiang Fengmian, "Jiang Fengmian, I’m not an idiot. Can’t I tell if she’s speaking the truth or lies? What have you done to me? If you don’t explain it clearly today, I won’t let this go..."

Before she could continue, Jiang Fengmian grabbed her wrist, forcibly pulling her along.

He dragged her towards the entrance of the tea garden but stopped suddenly after a few steps.

By a green plant about two meters tall, he saw An Ge.

His abrupt halt seemed odd, causing both Huo Shaoyan and An Muxin to look in his direction instinctively.

Soon enough, Huo Shaoyan’s gaze clashed with An Ge’s, standing amid the sunlight.

His blood surged violently, rushing to the top of his head.

His eyes narrowed intensely, and his breathing grew labored.

Without much hesitation, he lifted his leg and walked towards An Ge.

An Ge, already aware of An Muxin’s pregnancy, felt quite calm even after accidentally overhearing Huo Shaoyan’s conversation with An Muxin.

She quickly withdrew her gaze from Huo Shaoyan, glanced at Jiang Fengmian, then focused on Jiang Qingyi, who was also sizing her up.

Jiang Qingyi found her rather intriguing. After all, any woman who could make her cousin Huo Shaoyan love-stricken was truly remarkable.

Jiang Qingyi said, "I’ve heard about you for some time. You’re indeed quite the head-turner for men."

An Ge looked at her, squinting slightly, and said, "Seems like you don’t remember me."

Jiang Qingyi raised a brow, "Should I remember you?"

Jiang Fengmian chose this moment to warn An Ge, "Mind your own damn business and stay out of it."

An Ge sneered, "Am I so bored that I’d meddle in your business?"

An Ge’s comment metaphorically backed Jiang Fengmian into a corner against the southern wall.

Jiang Qingyi found An Ge formidable; anyone who could hold Jiang Fengmian at bay wasn’t to be trifled with.

Thus, Jiang Qingyi became even more interested in An Ge, "Hey, pretty lady, you’re a looker and my cousin’s girl; let’s add each other on WeChat?"

An Ge: "..."

An Ge could barely fathom what Jiang Qingyi had been through all these years to voluntarily make nice with her.

Just five years ago, Jiang Qingyi had wished to slice her into pieces and feed her to the dogs.

An Ge found it a bit inexplicable, "Maybe you should get your head checked first."

Jiang Fengmian eventually forced Jiang Qingyi to leave with him.

Huo Shaoyan walked up to An Ge, looking at her, and asked, "How much did you hear?"

An Ge answered calmly, "Pretty much all of it."

Huo Shaoyan’s expression darkened even more.

An Ge continued, "Though, I already knew about An Muxin’s pregnancy right after we got our marriage certificate." After pausing for a moment, she added, "Your mother told me."

Huo Shaoyan pressed his lips tightly together, his face gloomy enough to wring water from.

An Ge’s gaze shifted past Huo Shaoyan, glancing at An Muxin standing not far away.

An Muxin smirked at her, making a rather obvious taunting gesture before turning and walking away.

An Ge withdrew her gaze and asked Huo Shaoyan, "How do you plan to handle this?"

Huo Shaoyan hadn’t expected her to ask such a question so calmly.

His deep, unreadable eyes fell on An Ge’s face, and after a while, he said, "What’s your opinion?"

An Ge chuckled, but her smile carried the chill of the mountain breeze.

She told him, "My opinion doesn’t seem to matter, does it?"

Huo Shaoyan stayed silent.

An Ge continued, "Whatever decision you make, I don’t have much of an opinion." After a few seconds pause, she added, "Just as long as she doesn’t show up in front of me during our marriage, obstructing my view."

Her calm words, voicing such a humble request, struck Huo Shaoyan like a slap to the face, stinging fiercely.

Huo Shaoyan swallowed, saying, "I spent the afternoon talking with Feng Mian. He said he found a way to cure Huai Shang’s strange illness. It requires extracting An Muxin’s blood serum. A large amount is needed as the main ingredient, combined with other scientific formulas, to cure Huai Shang."

He paused, hinting, "Earlier, I discussed Huai Shang’s condition with An Muxin. She agreed to help support Huai Shang, but..."

An Ge finished for him, looking into his eyes, "But she wants to have your child, right?"

Huo Shaoyan remained silent.

Silence often speaks the truth.

An Ge paused for a few seconds, then continued looking into his eyes, "So, if you agree to let her have this child, I have no objections."

Veins bulged at Huo Shaoyan’s temples, his breathing turning somewhat heavy, "You have no objections?"

An Ge replied, "I can’t bring myself to force someone into an abortion. I don’t want the pain once imposed on me to befall another woman, even if that woman makes me nauseous and I loathe her."

An Ge was referencing how, back then, she was already in her second trimester, yet Huo Shaoyan had wanted to force an abortion.

Revisiting old wounds was like peeling open a bloody gash, bringing not only pain but also regret.

Huo Shaoyan felt both regret and pain.

He remained silent.

An Ge didn’t want to discuss the topic anymore, so she asked, "Heading back tonight?"

Huo Shaoyan thought if this matter hadn’t been thoroughly discussed, the issue of An Muxin’s pregnancy would still exacerbate the conflict between him and An Ge.

Thus, he wanted some alone time with An Ge, hoping to thoroughly discuss this matter when she was in a better mood later that night.

Therefore, he told An Ge, "I’m not going back tonight, I’ll leave tomorrow morning."

An Ge nodded, "Alright, then. President Huo, you attend to your matters, I’m heading back first."

"I’ll go with you."

An Ge said, "President Huo, I just ran into Gu Ru Yi. I made plans to have dinner with her. You don’t need to join our women’s chat."

Huo Shaoyan frowned, evident displeasure in his voice,

"You barely know her, why dinner? Today is our remarriage celebration; the time should belong to us, you should be with your husband..."

He paused and added, "You should be calling me ’husband,’ not coldly addressing me as ’President Huo’!"

An Ge interrupted him, "President Huo, maybe you should settle things with Ms. An Muxin first. Keep her from hovering around under my nose; she makes me uncomfortable just by being there."

She paused, with hinted emphasis,

"Moreover, I’m not in the mood to partake in your so-called celebration now. Nor am I in the mood to call you husband; I’m afraid I’d vomit."
