Disheartened, I Fled from the CEO with Our Babies
Chapter 281: Excitement, Out of Control

Chapter 281: Chapter 281: Excitement, Out of Control

Before An Ge could pick her up, he had already pulled her into his arms. Huo Chenghuan, fuming with anger, was about to bite him when Huo Shaoyan’s next words dissipated her fury,

"Don’t you hate me? If you do, then you should be even more in favor of your mommy remarrying me. I have endless money to spend. If your mommy and I get remarried, you’ll be my child, and then my money will be your money. You can spend my money non-stop and unleash your vengeance on me."

Huo Chenghuan, a bit of a little money-grubber, blinked her eyes, and tears on her lashes trickled down, splashing onto her chubby cheeks. Her eyes widened as she said,

"You... you think you can fool me with words? I’m not a three-year-old anymore. I’m already five this year."

Huo Shaoyan lifted his hand to wipe the tears from her cheeks and said,

"If you don’t believe me, I can write a will so that after I’m gone, all my money will be yours."

Huo Chenghuan was tempted and blinked, "If you give me all the money, then what about your son?"

Huo Shaoyan raised an eyebrow, chuckled, and said, "He’ll work for you, and you pay him a salary."

Huo Chenghuan’s dark, shiny eyes darted around before she added,

"Daddy Lu says men are liars, I won’t believe it unless you transfer ten million to me right now..."

Huo Shaoyan found the little one amusing, smart as a monkey. He chuckled and said, "Sure. Give me an account."

Huo Chenghuan had her private account and quickly rattled off her bank card number, "Go ahead, transfer the money. Once you do, I’ll reluctantly believe you this time."

Huo Chenghuan figured that if she could trick all of Huo Shaoyan’s money away, it would be worth it. Real money was a substantial form of revenge, far better than crying and making a fuss. Daddy Lu often said that money could make the devil work for you as long as you had enough of it. [Somewhere in the universe] she thought, once she became the richest kid, she would teach her deceitful and now-broke daddy a harsh lesson.

Thinking of this, Huo Chenghuan boldly said, "Ten million is too little, it makes me look down on you. Make it a hundred million instead."

An Ge interjected, "Huanhuan..."

Huo Chenghuan interrupted her, "Mommy, this is a deal between him and me, don’t interfere. If he thinks he can marry you without spending a dime, he’s dreaming. Consider a hundred million as the bride price."

Even Nan Xiao agreed with Huo Chenghuan’s idea. She chimed in then, smiling thinly at Huo Shaoyan, "President Huo, does our An Ge really worth only a hundred million?"

Huo Shaoyan glanced at her, displeased, "And what business is it of yours?"

Almost immediately after he finished speaking, Huo Chenghuan slapped his cheek with a little clap.

She angrily said, "Huo Dazha, you can’t be so mean to my godmother!"

Her chubby hand didn’t hurt but was certainly humiliating. Huo Shaoyan looked displeased, but he couldn’t very well quarrel with a child. He stayed looking fierce, quite frightening.

A bit scared, Huo Chenghuan sought refuge with her eyes on An Ge.

An Ge thought for a moment and then smiled at Huo Shaoyan, "President Huo, I am also quite curious, how much am I worth to you?"

Huo Shaoyan clenched his rear molars and then let out a low laugh, "Do you really care about my money that much?"

An Ge, looking indifferent, replied, "President Huo, honestly, you have to let me see some benefits, or how can our relationship last long?"

Huo Shaoyan’s Phoenix Eyes briefly flashed with shadows. "So, now you’re not after me but my wealth?"

An Ge, with a faint smile, said, "Is it the problem, or are you just unable to part with it, President Huo?"

Huo Shaoyan’s gaze lingered on her for almost half a minute before he spoke, "If you remarry me, everything I have will belong to us as a couple. If it truly doesn’t work out and we divorce, you’ll get more money than you could ever spend in a lifetime."

Huo Chenghuan snorted in disdain, "After the wedding is after, and before the wedding is before. You don’t even have a proposal, just trying to trick my mommy. You have no sincerity."

Huo Shaoyan thought An Ge’s daughter certainly wasn’t easy to deal with; she would probably be his nemesis. Tongue-tied by her, he was speechless for a long time.

Seeing him flustered, Huo Chenghuan sneered, "See? I was right; you have no sincerity. Other men marry their wives and know to buy houses, cars, and gold jewelry. How come it’s just words from you? Is it because you think my mommy is unworthy or worthless in your eyes? A hundred million, are you giving it or not?"

Huo Shaoyan finally gave in. Because it was such a large sum, the process was a bit complicated. However, through connections, Huo Shaoyan managed to have a hundred million transferred to Huo Chenghuan’s account within fifteen minutes.

After counting the zeroes following the number one several times and ensuring there were no mistakes, Huo Chenghuan cleared her throat and said to Huo Shaoyan, "A hundred million can’t even buy a private jet. However, Father Wen was very generous. On my mommy’s last birthday, he gifted her a billions-worth plane without even blinking."

Huo Shaoyan frowned deeply, "Father Wen? Who is he?"

"Huanhuan, enough with the talk," An Ge warned Huo Chenghuan.

Realizing she might have caused trouble for mommy by blurting out too much, Huo Chenghuan quickly covered her little mouth. Through the gaps in her fingers, she provocatively told Huo Shaoyan, "I’m not telling you, hmph!"

Huo Shaoyan felt a prick of frustration as if he might have a heart attack. He couldn’t help but suspect whether Huo Chenghuan was truly sick or just pretending. With her mischievous spirit, she didn’t seem like a sick child to him.

Huo Shaoyan took a few deep breaths to ease the suffocating feeling. He said, "It’s just a lousy plane. If your mommy wants one, I’d buy her an entire airline."

Huo Chenghuan scoffed, "All talk and no action is phony. Who can’t boast?"

Huo Shaoyan: "..."

Huo Shaoyan’s complexion darkened visibly, turning blacker with each passing second. An Ge was worried Huo Shaoyan might lose his temper in front of Huo Chenghuan, so she said to him, "Didn’t you say you wanted to visit your son, Huo Huaisang? You should go now; we can discuss it over the phone later."

Thus, Huo Shaoyan stormed off, frustrated. Ma De. He had spent a hundred million, yet all he bought was a bellyful of fire. Who was he supposed to talk to about this?

After Huo Shaoyan left, An Ge set Huo Chenghuan on the hospital bed and said to her, "Huanhuan, you can’t do this next time, understood?"

Huo Chenghuan sulked, "Mommy, I’m just afraid he’ll trick you out of everything, even your underwear. Before he cons you out of them, I should con some money out of him to support you in the future."

"..."

An Ge felt a headache brewing. She suspected it was Lu Huai’an, that scoundrel, who turned her once sweet and lovable daughter into this sharp-tongued persona.

Seeing her distressed, Nan Xiao sincerely remarked, "Huanhuan’s personality will serve her well. She won’t get deceived by men in the future, unlike you."

An Ge gave a wry smile, "Xiaoxiao, I’m troubled enough already, do you have to rub salt into my wounds?"

Turning serious, Nan Xiao asked, "Are you really going to remarry President Huo?"

As Nan Xiao’s words fell, An Ge noticed Huo Chenghuan perk her ears up to eavesdrop and so swallowed the words she was about to say.

She told Nan Xiao, "Let’s talk about it later."

Huo Chenghuan pursed her lips, expressing dissatisfaction, "What can’t I hear? Isn’t it because Huo Dazha’s liver can cure me, and you had no choice but to find him, then he threatened you to remarry him, so you agreed to his demand to cure my illness?"

An Ge: "..."

Huo Chenghuan continued, "Mommy, actually, I don’t need you to make such sacrifices. If you don’t love Huo Dazha and still want to remarry him because of me, I’d rather give up treatment."

Brows furrowing, An Ge said, "Huanhuan..."

An Ge felt a heavy weight on her heart, not expecting Huo Chenghuan to think this way. She took a deep breath and sincerely told her daughter,

"Huanhuan, there’s no one in this world more important than you and your brother. It’s a mother’s instinct to want the best for her children. Besides, marrying Huo Shaoyan again isn’t purely for your treatment. So, mommy doesn’t want you feeling burdened, alright?"

Huo Chenghuan asked, "Really? Other than treating me, what other reason do you have to remarry Huo Dazha?"

An Ge found herself momentarily at a loss. After a while, she finally said to her daughter, "Maybe I feel that my connection with him isn’t finished; I’m still hoping for something."

Pausing briefly, she added, "For you all to have a complete family, and for my own happiness, I thought I’d give it another try."

At that moment, Huo Shaoyan, who had returned to the hospital room door, froze. When he heard Huo Chenghuan say something,

"So, mommy, are you planning on letting me acknowledge my stinky dad?"

Pausing for a beat, she added eagerly,

"When are you planning to let me acknowledge him?"

The girl’s voice was crisp yet calm, clearly filled with a certain expectation. Huo Shaoyan felt as though something had slammed into his chest, causing his insides to churn violently. His hand gripping the doorknob tensed, his veins popping from the surge of emotions. Huo Shaoyan found his emotions spiraling out of control, his breathing became heavier, thickening gradually.

Recognition?

Huo Chenghuan wanted to acknowledge her biological father?

Then, who was her biological father? Could it be him?

Could she be his daughter? No, no, she couldn’t possibly be his daughter. His biological daughter had died prematurely, and even her remains had been moved back to the country from Africa. Besides, he had done multiple paternity tests with Huo Chenghuan, all confirming that she was not his daughter. If not him, then who could her biological father be?

In those few fleeting seconds, countless possibilities flitted through Huo Shaoyan’s mind, only for him to dismiss them all. Just then, a woman’s gentle voice came from inside the room—it was An Ge’s voice. Through the door, Huo Shaoyan heard her say to Huo Chenghuan, "Huanhuan, do you really want to acknowledge him?"
