Chapter 273 Intense Love
Chapter 273: Chapter 273 Intense Love
An Ge harbored resentment towards him; there was no way she could share a bed with him. However, she didn’t want to wake Huo Chenghuan either. Thus, she hugged the blanket and fell asleep on the sofa in the living room. All the lights in the room were off, and the sudden darkness silently birthed an indescribable atmosphere.
Huo Shaoyan lay for a while, his dark eyes watching the little one beside him sleep deeply, a certain softness unfurling in his heart. At that moment, the little one turned in her sleep, seemingly having a nightmare, and kicked out suddenly, landing right on his injured abdomen. The pain made Huo Shaoyan let out a muffled grunt.
He wanted to get up to check the wound, but the little one had unknowingly rolled into his arms. Her chubby little hands wrapped around his neck, murmuring indistinct dream talk with soft swallowing sounds. Huo Shaoyan leaned closer to her, listening for a while before discerning that she was saying "stinky daddy." He couldn’t help but smile and gently patted her back until she was fast asleep, then sat up straight.
He turned on the floor lamp, which illuminated his wounded abdomen. As expected, the wound was oozing a bit of blood. Fortunately, it was not particularly severe. Huo Shaoyan sat there for a while, thinking about how the living room sofa was small, and An Ge certainly wouldn’t be comfortable sleeping there.
With that thought, he sighed, got out of bed, and resignedly walked toward the living room. [The living room did not have the lights on], but he still immediately spotted the figure of a woman curled up on the sofa. She must have been utterly exhausted because she was sleeping soundly.
Huo Shaoyan bent over slightly, slid his arm under her waist, and lifted her into his embrace. He dared not move too much, so as to avoid hurting his abdominal wound. When he carried An Ge in his arms, he paused for a moment to catch his breath before taking her back to the master bedroom.
But An Ge woke up. The moment Huo Shaoyan placed her on the bed, her eyes snapped open. Under the dim and indistinct light of the wall lamp, the man’s gaze was deep and intense, yet it shone brightly, almost scorching.
Unfortunately, An Ge was filled with deep resentment towards him at that moment, unable to appreciate his charm. Her voice was somewhat hoarse, but her tone was nonchalant, "Huo Shaoyan, after Huanhuan has completed her liver repair surgery, I will leave the Imperial Country."
Huo Shaoyan’s pupils shrank slightly. He lowered his eyes to look at her, his face dark. An Ge ignored his ugly expression and continued, "So many years have passed, we each have our own lives. I have no feelings for you, nor can I fit into your life. Besides, I never planned to stay when I returned to the country. So, I’m clearly telling you now, I will leave the Imperial Country and completely disappear from your world."
Pausing for a moment, she added, "Therefore, I’m too tired to argue with you or fight. If you still have any remorse for me, please save my daughter’s life. If you’re unwilling, I won’t force you."
Having said this, An Ge lay down next to Huo Chenghuan. Before closing her eyes, she spoke to Huo Shaoyan, who stood mysteriously by the bed, "Please turn off the wall lamp when you leave."
With that, she turned to face Huo Chenghuan and closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep. Huo Shaoyan stood by her bed for almost half a minute before he turned off the wall lamp and left the master bedroom. He not only left the master bedroom but also An Ge’s presidential suite.
The next day, at dawn, An Ge got up and didn’t see him anymore. Around nine in the morning, Huo Shiqian, led by bodyguards from the Gu Family, came to the hotel to meet them.
It had been a while since she last saw him, and Huo Shiqian had gained some weight since leaving her. An Ge felt some relief, thinking that he must be living well with the Gu Family.
Huo Shiqian took the initiative to tell An Ge about his situation with the Gu Family, "Gu Yuandong treats me quite well, and the servants at home are very respectful of me. You don’t have to worry about me; I’m doing well."
Huo Chenghuan hadn’t seen him for a long time either. She had lived with Huo Shiqian since she was very young and had never been apart from him for so long. Her eyes reddened as she looked at Huo Shiqian, tears welling up in her eyes, as she pitifully said, "Brother Qian, does this mean we won’t get to see each other for a long time in the future?"
Huo Shiqian pulled out a tissue to gently wipe her moist eyes and comforted her, "No," he said after a pause, "When you miss me, we can video call."
Huo Chenghuan’s nose tingled, and with a heavy heart, she asked, "Stinky daddy doesn’t want Mommy and me anymore. Are you also going to leave us?"
Her tears fell dramatically, and she cried like a little sprite. Huo Shiqian frowned slightly and said, "No. Brother Qian will never leave you."
Pausing again, he added, "But Brother Qian also has his things to do. I need to grow up quickly. Only then can I become a man who can stand alone and protect you and Mom. So, Brother Qian isn’t really leaving you; he’s just working hard to become the man who can protect you, understand?"
Huo Chenghuan seemed half understanding, half not. "Really? You will never leave us?"
Huo Shiqian peeled a chocolate candy and fed it to her, "Of course."
Huo Chenghuan loved sweet chocolates the most. The chocolate melted in her mouth, and her mood brightened a bit. She smiled sweetly at Huo Shiqian, her eyes bending, "Then we have to pinky swear, cross our hearts, and never change for a hundred years."
Although Huo Shiqian found pinky swearing incredibly childish, he still cooperated unreservedly with Huo Chenghuan.
Huo Chenghuan said, "Pinky swear, cross our hearts, never change for a hundred years. If you change, you won’t be able to marry a wife when you grow up, or else you’ll have to cut off your little willy..."
Her astounding words made An Ge’s heart thump violently. She almost instantly rebuked Huo Chenghuan with utmost seriousness after she finished speaking, "Huanhuan, who taught you to speak like that?"
Huo Chenghuan pouted her plump little lips, a bit aggrieved, "There’s a little boy from the Lu Family. When we play house together, he always pees in the mud in front of us, and Daddy Lu gets mad and says he’ll cut off his little willy..."
An Ge had a headache. She regretted leaving Huo Chenghuan under Lu Huai’an’s care for this time. It hadn’t been long, yet Huanhuan had picked up bad habits.
Huo Shiqian was supposed to return to the Gu Family at eleven, so An Ge left the rest of the time entirely to him and Huo Chenghuan. She let the two of them play in the children’s room while she avoided them and went to the study, which was part of the presidential suite, to call Lu Huai’an.
She tried calling four times before it was finally answered. Though the call was connected, it wasn’t Lu Huai’an who answered, but... a woman. The voice didn’t belong to his new wife, Gu Ru Yi, either.
"Hello, who is this?"
An Ge was momentarily stunned, then calmly said, "This is An Ge. I’d like to speak with Lu Huai’an."
"An Ge? Is that you, the ex-wife of President Huo?"
An Ge raised an eyebrow slightly, "You know me?"
The woman chuckled lightly and said, "I’ve long heard of the infamous An Ge. They say you’re quite adept at seducing men, with your suitors as numerous as carp crossing the river. Even someone as promiscuous as Lu Huai’an once fell for you."
An Ge pondered for a few seconds, "You’re... Gu Qinghuan?"
Gu Qinghuan laughed louder, "It seems I hold some weight in Chairman Lu’s heart; otherwise, you wouldn’t know of me."
Then she got back to business, "So, what do you need him for? He’s taking a shower right now; should I have him call you back later?"
An Ge asked, "He’s showering at your place?"
Gu Qinghuan smirked, "Why? Is that not allowed? Although last night was his wedding night with Gu Ru Yi, so what? I merely cried to him on the phone, and he still left his new bride to come comfort me, didn’t he?"
Pausing here, she laughed like an enchanting nine-tailed fox, "You wouldn’t believe how wild and intense he was last night, holding me. He’s utterly enamored with me, eager to wring every drop of moisture from my body."
An Ge: "....."
Gu Qinghuan continued, "Though Gu Ru Yi and I are both daughters of the Gu Family, and my status is even more honorable, Lu Huai’an ended up marrying that slut Gu Ru Yi. Do you know why?"
An Ge didn’t know the past between Lu Huai’an, Gu Qinghuan, and Gu Ru Yi, nor was she interested. She said, "Sorry, I’m not interested in your affairs..."
Gu Qinghuan interrupted her, "Because I can’t have children. Mrs. Lu would never allow Lu Huai’an to marry a woman who can’t bear children into the Lu Family, so this marriage fell to that slut Gu Ru Yi."
Gu Qinghuan spat the last few words through gritted teeth. An Ge could hear the venom in Gu Qinghuan’s voice towards Gu Ru Yi. Yet, she wouldn’t comment on the matter. She said, "Please have Lu Huai’an call me back later."
With that, she hung up the phone. She dazed in the study for a while, mulling over whether she had completely infuriated Huo Shaoyan with her words last night, leading him to leave without a word. Her tactic of retreating as a means of advancing was actually quite risky. If Huo Shaoyan didn’t fall for it, she would have thoroughly offended him, thus blocking the best means to treat Huanhuan’s illness. Therefore, if Huo Shaoyan truly didn’t come looking for her again, she would likely have to go and seek him out once more.
If it still didn’t work, she would genuinely have to consider the method Huo Qingzhou mentioned. An Ge’s thoughts were somewhat chaotic when she received a text from Huo Shaoyan.
The content was overbearing and assertive.
[I don’t do losing deals. If you want me to risk my life to donate part of my liver to save your daughter, then give me a child in return. That’s my condition, or there’s nothing to discuss.]
The fact that the man was willing to send a text, and clearly state his terms, meant there was still room for negotiation. An Ge exited the message screen, found Huo Shaoyan’s number in her contacts, and hesitated over whether to call him.
Huo Shaoyan wanted her to have a child, but from her perspective, An Ge certainly didn’t want to have another. However, it seemed that the child was the only breakthrough to ease their conflicts right now.
After thinking it over, An Ge finally dialed Huo Shaoyan’s number. From the other end of the line came the mocking and indifferent voice of the man, "What’s this? Have you decided so soon to have a child for me?"
