Chapter 185: Chapter 185 Desire
An Ge leaned back, appearing relaxed, with a smile on her face that seemed more genuine than before. Her voice was soft and calm as she said, "President Huo, I’m just a flesh-and-blood person, not some holy saint. I can’t stay indifferent when people deliberately provoke me."
She paused for a few seconds before adding, "If I had known she would come over tonight, I wouldn’t have gone back to Fengqiao Villa with you. But..." She switched her tone, "But it’s not entirely intolerable. You’ve done worse to me before, haven’t you? And I’ve endured it all, haven’t I?"
Huo Shaoyan’s face darkened instantly but he didn’t erupt in anger. He watched An Ge silently for a while before speaking, "She sneaked away from the Imperial City to Jingcheng alone. After she got off the plane, her things were stolen. She only remembered my number..."
An Ge smirked a little, "President Huo, you don’t need to explain so clearly. These things aren’t important."
What was important was, even if it was as he said, An Muxin came to Jingcheng and had her belongings stolen, and she only remembered his number to call for help using a stranger’s phone, he could have arranged for his subordinates to pick her up at the airport instead of abandoning his lawful wife to go himself.
When all is said and done, An Muxin still held a unique place in the eyes of the man in front of her. At least a hundred times more unique than she was, a mere stand-in.
Huo Shaoyan wasn’t aware of An Ge’s inner thoughts but could tell her aloofness and indifference towards him had reached an unmasked extent. From the most direct sense, at this moment, Huo Shaoyan felt there was hatred deep down in An Ge’s heart towards him. Perhaps there was even aversion?
Hatred seemed bearable, but aversion was not. Huo Shaoyan couldn’t tolerate any aversion mixed in An Ge’s feelings towards him. Therefore, not soon after An Ge finished speaking, he bent down closer.
His hands on either side of her body, he was close enough that his lips nearly touched hers. His warm breath brushing against her cheeks, he spoke in a low yet lingering voice, "You hate me, don’t you?"
An Ge lifted her gaze, looking at him steadily, and said, "I remember you asked me a similar question before. The honest truth? Full of resentment and blame. Lies? We get along quite harmoniously now, don’t we?"
As An Ge spoke, her fingers played along the curve of his sensual throat, half-smiling, as she said, "President Huo, if you don’t go downstairs to accompany that woman, she’ll disturb my rest soon."
As soon as she finished speaking, Huo Shaoyan grasped her chin and bent to kiss her lips. It was a punishing kiss, aggressive from the start; no matter how much An Ge tried to cooperate, her soft red tongue ended up getting bitten painfully.
She let out a sound that was almost a moan, heating up Huo Shaoyan’s blood all the way down to that crucial point of need. He wasn’t content with just a mere kiss; his fingers quickly ventured under the woman’s robe towards her tender body; as he reached for the soft, fragrant skin and made a further decisive move, An Muxin appeared.
With the bedroom door not fully closed, a gentle push from An Muxin, and the extremely stimulating scene came crashing into her line of sight. The door made a slight banging noise, causing the man who was tangled with the woman to suddenly turn back, shooting her a fierce, icy glance.
That was the first time An Muxin saw such a concentrated, bright lust in Huo Shaoyan’s eyes. It was as if being pierced by an invisible thorn, stabbing right through her heart, making An Muxin feel entirely uncomfortable.
Before she could speak, the man followed with a low roar, "Get out!"
An Muxin’s heart wrenched again, her eyes turned red. Her jealousy seemed to make her whole body tremble, but she looked strangely calm. She even managed to curl her lips, smiling as she greeted An Ge, whose expression showed no emotional waves, "Sister, happy Lantern Festival."
The atmosphere was very awkward. The man pressing against her, separated by only the quilt from her lower half, was almost glued to her. Her clothes were disheveled, her neck marked clearly with kiss prints left by the man. Even she herself thought the scene between her and the man was exceptionally alluring, yet An Ge remained so unperturbed.
She even replied calmly after An Muxin had wished her a happy new year, "Happy Lantern Festival."
Pausing for a moment, she asked, seemingly serious, "Do you want to join in? After all, we’re both substitutes. President Huo is quite energetic and might play with you."
An Muxin burst into tears and ran out. An Ge listened to her footsteps running downstairs, laughing so hard she doubled over. She truly seemed in a good mood, even laughing so hard tears spilled from her eyes.
Huo Shaoyan looked at her as if she were a mentally unstable woman; the dark fire initially sparked in him had now vanished without a trace, replaced by burgeoning anger. His long fingers pinched her chin painfully, his voice low, "Was it fun, hmm?"
An Ge’s chin ached a little; she answered, not quite responsive to his question, "Do you want to do it? If not, I’m going to sleep."
Half a month ago, on that time in the car, Huo Shaoyan never actually went all the way. That time, An Ge found another way to please him, but he never really got satisfied. Now, An Ge’s bare words were full of temptation for Huo Shaoyan.
However, he couldn’t bring himself to have that kind of interest in a woman who appeared so kind and docile but was covered in hidden, invisible thorns. Even though she looked so delectable he wished he could devour her in one bite, he didn’t want to touch her. If he truly did, it had to be after removing all her thorns.
So, Huo Shaoyan let her go. After finding the medicine box in the master bedroom, he strode away.
After this, An Ge turned off the bedside lamp and crawled back into bed. She closed her eyes and quickly drifted off into a peaceful sleep. It seemed everything that happened before didn’t concern her at all.
The next day, An Ge was fully dressed and appeared downstairs by nine. Today was the Lantern Festival; ordinarily, she should have worn something bright red to celebrate, but her uncle, Wen Daqiang, had just been buried, and the mourning period wasn’t over. So, An Ge wore black.
A black long-sleeve dress, a black coat, and black ankle boots. Around her neck was the longevity lock pendant that Huo Shaoyan had given her, even though it was originally something he’d bought at an auction for An Muxin. But An Ge didn’t mind at all.
She liked the longevity lock pendant, and regardless of how complicated the process might have been, or even if her means to acquire it hadn’t been exactly honorable, now it was hers, so she could wear it with confidence in front of An Muxin.
Compared to her dreary black, An Muxin’s bright red New Year’s outfit was especially festive. Yet, her face looked pale, her eyes swollen with tears, and her gaze towards her was as sharp as a knife, not hiding any of her hostility.
An Ge ignored her hostility, and once she sat at the dining table, she quietly began her breakfast with chopsticks in hand. She had planned to peacefully finish breakfast, but An Muxin didn’t allow her wish to come true.
In the moment after An Ge picked up her chopsticks, An Muxin spat venomously, "Dressing like that during the height of the Lunar New Year celebrations—did someone in your family die?"
An Ge set down her chopsticks and looked at her with a calm gaze, saying, "Yes, a senior died."
Hearing this, An Muxin seemed to find a way to vent her anger. She said, "Oh? Then it must be retribution for your wickedness, and all the elders you care for are almost dead, aren’t they?"
Even facing An Muxin’s harsh provocation, An Ge remained calm. She gave An Muxin a deep look for a few seconds before speaking in a soft voice, "Who doesn’t have someone who died in their family tree? I heard your mother died in childbirth because of you."
An Muxin burned with rage, "Are you provoking me?"
An Ge smirked, deliberately not responding directly, "I was just thinking. Fortunately, your mother passed away early. Otherwise, if she had known her hard-worked-for daughter turned out like you, so arrogant and unruly, perhaps she’d have died from the anger anyway."
At those words, An Muxin picked up a cup of soy milk and threw it at An Ge’s face, "Shut up!"
An Ge quickly dodged, avoiding the splashed soy milk and retaliated by splashing her back. An Muxin never expected An Ge would dare retaliate this way, so she was almost entirely covered in it.
The milky white liquid ruined the makeup she meticulously applied that morning, stained her million-dollar New Year’s clothes, and even the warm soy milk had scalded her face a little. The pampered daughter from a young age couldn’t stand such grievance.
As she called in her bodyguards to capture An Ge, she was stopped by Huo Shaoyan, returning from a smoke outside. His face was dark, "What’s going on?"
