Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Coquetry to President Huo: I Miss You~

Xiao Chaofeng said with a half-smile, "Half an hour ago, that kid Xiao Ye rushed to the airport in a hurry, saying he was going to pick her up."

Huo Shaoyan almost immediately left the banquet hall as soon as Xiao Chaofeng finished speaking.

An Baoying, surrounded by a group of rich ladies, only managed to catch a glimpse of his departing back. She wanted to follow but was entangled by Xiao Chaofeng.

On the other side.

After leaving the noisy banquet hall, Huo Shaoyan dialed a call to An Ge.

At this moment, An Ge had just gotten off the plane. Amidst the bustling crowd at the exit, she tightened her black down jacket around her and calmly gazed at the thriving city. In those fleeting seconds, she felt an intense sense of homesickness from deep within her heart, yet this was her first visit to the city in her memory.

[Imperial City] was even colder than [Jingcheng], with a tendency for breath to turn to frost.

[Xiao Ye’s car] was parked not far away. Seeing him, An Ge trotted over. She only carried a backpack, not much stuff. After getting into the car, Huo Shaoyan’s call came through.

An Ge’s hands were frozen numb. She waited for her fingers to warm up before calling Huo Shaoyan back.

He answered in a second, his voice repressing a smoldering anger, "Who told you to come to the Imperial City?"

An Ge looked at the dazzling night scene outside the car window and replied blandly, "Can I not come?"

Huo Shaoyan was momentarily at a loss.

An Ge continued, "Don’t worry, I won’t make a scene at the [Fu Family’s birthday party] to embarrass you. I’ve booked a hotel, just came here to clear my head."

"Send me the hotel address."

Huo Shaoyan said only this and then hung up on An Ge.

From the start, An Ge was very clear about her position. In the face of the bigger picture, she was always the most passive one. She understood how to handle her relationship with Huo Shaoyan. Before she ran with a baby bump, she wouldn’t have any conflict with him. So she quickly sent the hotel address over.

After doing this, she asked Xiao Ye, "Do you know about that calamitous case with the Qin family in the Imperial City?"

Xiao Ye gave her a strange look, "Why are you interested in that?"

An Ge pondered for a moment and said, "I’m just curious what kind of young girl could be the ’white moonlight’ kept in President Huo’s heart."

Xiao Ye thought for a moment and said, "I’m not entirely clear. I just heard that all the Qin Family were massacred, with the bodies of the Qin family’s eldest daughter Qin Huaisheng and her daughter missing. Some say they’re missing, others say their bodies vanished without a trace. In short, the Qin family met a miserable end, with Qin Lao’s head severed and hanging at the door of the Qin Mansion. No one dares to go near the Qin Mansion to this day."

It sounded tragic enough, but An Ge’s heart didn’t seem deeply touched. She was silent for a moment, then astonishingly asked again, "Do you know where the [Qin Family’s Ancestral Tomb] is?"

Xiao Ye looked at her as if she were a monster, "What are you up to?"

An Ge replied, "I’m just curious, just asking."

Xiao Ye said, "How would I know? You’ll have to ask my uncle and them."

Xiao Ye noticed An Ge looked unwell, asking, "You don’t look good, are you okay?"

An Ge rested her head against the car window, saying, "I’m fine, just take me to the hotel." After a pause, "Am I not interfering with your matchmaking with the Fu Family heiress?"

Xiao Ye replied, "I never liked arranged family marriages. My uncle is handling it on that end, so it’s fine." After a pause, he added with a hinting tone, "But you, running over here quietly, will definitely arouse something with Huo Shaoyan."

An Ge said, "I know in my heart. At most, he’ll scold me a few times; he won’t genuinely lose his decorum with me."

As An Ge expected, Huo Shaoyan only scolded her a bit and didn’t really do anything to her. The car arrived at [Bai Yulan Hotel] forty minutes later.

She got out of the car and immediately saw the tall, upright man standing at the hotel entrance. He wore a long black trench coat, bathed in the golden, magnificent lights, which cast a soft halo around him but couldn’t diminish his sharp, aloof aura.

An Ge turned her head to Xiao Ye in the driver’s seat, saying, "You should get going, drive safe."

After bidding farewell to Xiao Ye, she walked toward Huo Shaoyan. Before he could start yelling at her, she placed her chilly hand directly over his burning heart. Through the shirt’s fabric, her little hand brushed against his heart, "President Huo, the Imperial City, it’s so cold."

Huo Shaoyan, brimming with anger, stood motionless, silent, his Phoenix Eyes glaring at her with intense redness. An Ge thought he really had a stormy disposition, a difficult ancestor to appease. She pursed her lips, looked up at his gloomy face, and asked, "President Huo, do you want to scold me? If you do, I won’t talk back."

Huo Shaoyan found it hard to remain cold-hearted at her coaxing demeanor, but his words were still harsh, "Do you have any sense? You just gave three hundred milliliters of blood; you should be recuperating in Jingcheng. What are you messing around for? Have you lost your mind?"

"I missed you."

Whether sincere or not, those three words instantly doused all of Huo Shaoyan’s anger. Moreover, she nestled against his heart, clinging tightly to his waist. Her words continued, "President Huo, I’m cold and hungry. Shouldn’t we avoid chatting in the wind?"

Huo Shaoyan found himself utterly bereft of temper under her charms. He was mad at her for being reckless, even madder at her for coming to the Imperial City without telling him and having another man pick her up at the airport. Did she even acknowledge him as her husband?

Angry as he was, losing his temper wouldn’t solve anything. Huo Shaoyan took her backpack from her back and held it in his hand, then gently lifted her out of his embrace and walked ahead of her.

An Ge didn’t follow. She stood, unmoving. Huo Shaoyan, realizing this after a few steps, snorted with laughter. He raised his hand and pinched his wildly twitching brow, then gestured to her, "If you don’t hurry up, I’ll throw you into the Imperial City River to feed the fish."

From a distance, An Ge looked at him cloaked in shadows and stubbornly asked, "Are you still mad at me? Would you still scold me?"

Huo Shaoyan watched her bright, sparkling black eyes, swallowing a response, "If you don’t catch up, it won’t be just a matter of scolding you a few times."

An Ge’s eyes curved in a smile as she ran quickly to his side.

Huo Shaoyan took her cold hand without a trace of warmth, wrapped it in his palm, brushing past her ring finger but feeling no wedding ring. His brows furrowed.

Sensing his brewing anger, An Ge proactively explained, "I’ve lost weight significantly recently, the ring became loose, and I was afraid of losing it, so I took it off and placed it in my backpack."

Huo Shaoyan gripped the back of her neck, his voice tinged with gritted teeth, "Are you accusing me of neglect?"

He didn’t grasp tightly; it felt more like playful intimacy between lovers.

An Ge raised her head, breaking free, blinking her clear eyes, and looked at him deeply, with a tone slightly resentful, "The fact is, ever since being tied to you, my weight has visibly dropped."

Huo Shaoyan hooked her waist, half-embracing her against him, and whispered softly by her ear, "Soon I’ll feed you well, let you recover your strength, hmm?"
