Chapter 135: Pamper Her~
Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Pamper Her~
She only needed to avoid yearning for the man’s heart; in this game, she would undoubtedly win.
The car returned to [Fengqiao Villa] forty minutes later. As Huo Shaoyan had said, the blizzard arrived as expected.
After An Ge laid Ms. Wen’s urn to rest, she took a hot bath in the bathroom. People are easily exhausted after a roller coaster of emotions, let alone a pregnant woman. An Ge unwittingly fell asleep in the temperature-controlled bathtub.
She had no idea how long she had slept; in any case, it was a strong knock on the door that woke her up. She was jolted awake as if from a dream, momentarily unable to tell reality from illusion, her mind blank save for a burst of white light.
It wasn’t until the bathroom door was swung open from the outside by a man that she fully came to her senses. She hurriedly grabbed a towel to cover herself, her face blushing as she glared at the intruding man in embarrassment and anger. "How did you get in here?" she demanded.
Huo Shaoyan glanced at her. "I’ve been calling for you for ages; I thought you died in there."
An Ge said, "I was just too tired... and fell asleep." She pressed her lips together. "You go out first. Whatever you have to say can wait until I have my clothes on."
Huo Shaoyan sneered, "What purity are you flaunting in front of me? It’s not like I haven’t seen it."
An Ge took a deep breath and held back. She wrapped a towel around herself and stepped out of the bathtub. The towel wound around her chest, revealing smooth, porcelain-like shoulders and a graceful swan neck. Her skin was exceptionally good, white and jade-like, emitting an enchanting femininity. Droplets of water from her hair trickled down her neck and swiftly slithered into that proud gap, sparking infinite imagination.
Huo Shaoyan’s throat bobbed, but before An Ge could catch him reacting, he turned and left the bathroom. He went to the balcony, letting the wind and snow buffet him.
About five minutes later, he only returned to the room when he heard the woman leave the bathroom. By this time, she had changed into a conservative style of pajamas. However, her figure was so good that, even in the most modest pajamas, she still exuded an overwhelming allure.
Huo Shaoyan sat on the sofa opposite her and asked, "I want to confirm something with you."
An Ge gave a soft hum, "Go ahead."
"Tang Jiuze’s mother said your master’s ashes might not have been buried yet. Think carefully—did your mother mention anything about this before she passed?"
An Ge considered for a moment and replied truthfully, "My mother was indeed lucid for a short while before she passed. She didn’t mention anything about my master. But she did tell me to bury her in a specific place she had chosen. Besides, she mentioned that she left something important for me, hidden in my grandmother’s tomb, and asked me to retrieve it."
Curious, An Ge asked, "May I ask the name of the person you’re looking for?"
"She was the eldest daughter of the Qin family in the Imperial City, her full name is Qin Huaisheng."
An Ge was taken aback and thought for a while before saying, "In the days when my mom was critically ill, she often rambled, and sometimes, when confused, she would call me Shengsheng. It’s possible my master is indeed the person you’re looking for..."
Upon hearing this, the man seemed visibly emotional. He grasped her shoulders and asked, "Did your master have a daughter about your age? Also twenty this year... And she, like you, has a pair of lively, sparkling eyes..."
An Ge felt discomfort akin to swallowing a blade and asked, "So, your unrequited love is the daughter of Qin Huaisheng? But I can assure you, my master had no daughter."
An Ge’s words instantly extinguished the surge of hope in Huo Shaoyan’s eyes.
An Ge silently observed his expression for a while and then asked, "Anything else?"
Huo Shaoyan stood up, leaning closer to her. The orange light fell on his lean back, and in that moment, he seemed to be silhouetted in the glow, exuding an aura of mysterious sexual tension.
His Phoenix Eyes fell on her exposed ankles, and his gaze moved downward. "How are the injuries on your feet?"
When he barged in earlier, although her whole body was in the bathtub, her injured feet had rested on the edge.
An Ge hadn’t expected such concern and admitted, "It’s not healing in the short term. It’ll probably take a few more days to scab over."
While they were speaking, the man’s arm slipped under her legs, and with another hand at her waist, he effortlessly lifted her up.
An Ge was unaccustomed to his sudden intimacy and instinctively resisted, but Huo Shaoyan’s grip was assertive and domineering, allowing no room for her to refuse.
Her heartbeat grew erratic; her breath too, "Put me down," she insisted.
"Isn’t becoming Mrs. Huo something you’ve prepared for? In that case, get used to it."
As he spoke, Huo Shaoyan carried her from the guest bedroom to his master bedroom. Compared to [Huo Mansion, East Garden], his master bedroom at [Fengqiao Villa] was much colder.
The mature and monochrome style of the décor reflected his first impression on her—very cold. The entire master bedroom contained only a large bed, a floor lamp, and supporting cabinets—no other decorations, not even a single painting to adorn the walls.
Too cold.
He placed her on the bed, and at that moment, her heart was in utter turmoil. She didn’t understand what kind of relationship she had with the man right in front of her at this moment. He said he was giving her the position of Mrs. Huo; he said she was a substitute; he also said that he was her protector and would even spoil her as long as she was obedient.
But she knew it all stemmed from his temporary interest. She felt as if she were his caged plaything—a gilded canary—and there would eventually come a day when he would tire of her.
A warm hairdryer breezed over her scalp then, and his voice, carried along with this wind, seeped into her ears, "If you have no objections, let’s go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning."
In this game, as the man had said, once it started, she had no right to say no.
She murmured, "I have no objections."
Her hair was a rich, deep black, naturally twisted into lazy curls without the need for treating or dyeing, cascading gracefully behind her like a flow of ink—a very beautiful line.
Huo Shaoyan recalled the little girl in his memories; she too had such thick black hair. When she smiled, her eyes shone with a brilliance like a galaxy hidden within. He first saw her when she was nine, and he was almost seventeen.
He was lying in a sterile lab, tubes inserted all over, and she, dressed in sterile protective clothes, spoke to the young woman who was injecting life-saving fluids into him, "Mom, should I call him Uncle Yan or Brother Yan?"
This question seemed to stump the still very young Qin Huaisheng at the time. She hesitated for a while before saying, "Actually, calling him ’Uncle’ would be more appropriate."
"No way, that’s a generational gap. Mom, he’s good-looking, and Xiaoqi has a crush on him at first sight. In the future, he’s going to be your son-in-law," she said gleefully.
Memories often rendered one absentminded.
Huo Shaoyan’s reverie led to near disaster for An Ge, as the hairdryer came close to scorching her scalp. She avoided the hot air, tugging on his shirt with some complaint in her voice, "President Huo, you’re about to fry my scalp."
Her voice brought Huo Shaoyan out of his thoughts.
Looking at her beguiling eyes, his heart wavered and he leaned down to kiss her.
