Chapter 12 Morning Sickness
Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Morning Sickness
An Ge followed Qin Lang, who had bailed her out, out of the police station, and immediately saw the handsome man standing under the streetlight, smoking a cigarette.
His tall, elegant figure turned towards her, his gaze as icy as frosted glass, piercingly cold. An Ge braced herself and walked toward him, taking the initiative to speak first, "Young Master Huo, now that I’m a guest of Mrs. Huo, even if you have a lot of dissatisfaction with me, please be more forgiving. After all, offending Madam won’t do you any good."
Huo Shaoyan was both amused and angered by her words.
With his tongue, he pushed a bulge into his cheek and tilted his chin at An Ge. With a half-smile, he said, "Do you know what happened to the last person who spoke to me like that?"
An Ge felt a chill run down her spine under the icy sharpness of his gaze.
After composing herself, she met his eyes and said calmly, "Whatever happened has nothing to do with me, and I don’t care either. Also, Young Master Huo, what unforgivable crime have I committed that makes you despise me so? Can’t we at least maintain a semblance of peace? If... if you bully me, I will tell Madam."
Her words successfully provoked Huo Shaoyan.
He crushed the smoldering cigarette with one hand, and in the next instant, grabbed An Ge by the neck and pressed her whole body against the car door.
His taut body leaned against her, fingers pinching her chin as he lowered his head close, speaking coldly, "Are you looking to die, huh?"
An Ge’s chin hurt from his grip.
Her eyes welled up with tears, looking pitiful as if about to cry. "Young Master Huo, if death is a relief, dragging you down with me doesn’t seem like a loss. Even if it’s one corpse and three lives, having you accompany us on the road to the afterlife means we won’t be lonely."
An Ge was referring to the crime of murder; if Huo Shaoyan really strangled her, he wouldn’t escape the law.
Huo Shaoyan felt an inexplicable tightness in his heart at her tear-filled eyes.
Those damn eyes resembled the little girl from his memories so much that he couldn’t bring himself to be ruthless to her.
He released her then, and in the next second grabbed her collar and shoved her into the car.
Once the car drove away from the police station, he spoke coldly to the woman sitting by the window, "I don’t care what your purpose is in getting close to the old lady, but I can responsibly tell you that if you dare to scheme against or take advantage of her, I’ll make sure you die without a burial place."
As he spoke, a sharp knife pressed against An Ge’s delicate, white neck.
A month earlier, it was this knife that had injured her neck.
Because of this, she had an instinctual fear of this knife.
She was terrified, breathing heavily, her white face covered in cold sweat.
Driven by an instinct to survive, she shuddered, "Don’t hurt me..."
"Tsk, I thought you were fearless," the man suddenly leaned in close, speaking in a lover’s whisper.
"Don’t worry, I generally don’t bully the old, the weak, and women. But if you’re not obedient, there will always be a time when you’ll hurt."
At this, he paused and added with a meaningful tone, "When you see Madam next time, whatever excuse you use, you must sever all ties with her. Otherwise, this time next year will be your death anniversary, got it?"
An Ge knew that going against Huo Shaoyan was like striking a stone with an egg.
Her top priority was survival.
With this in mind, she pretended to retch, "Huo... Young Master Huo, I... I feel like vomiting..."
As soon as she said this, the man who had been leaning in close to her ear recoiled like a startled bird, kicking open the car door beside her.
With this surge of force, the car abruptly stopped.
Before Huo Shaoyan could get angry, An Ge stumbled out of the car and pretended to vomit by the roadside greenery.
She had intended to fake it to distract Huo Shaoyan.
Somehow, she ended up actually vomiting uncontrollably, as if trying to expel her bile.
Could it be morning sickness?
After calming down from the intense bout of nausea, An Ge used a nearby utility pole to stand up slowly.
Perhaps she had been vomiting for too long, for the moment she stood up, she felt dizzy and disoriented.
She lifted her head, looking at the man leaning lazily against the car door.
He wore a dark suit and pants, holding a cigarette to his lips. Through the swirls of smoke, his handsome face seemed both vivid and unreal.
Seeing her gaze was on him, the man crushed the burning cigarette and tilted his chin at her, "Morning sickness?"
