Chapter 100: Rift

Noa said and delivered.

Just as echoes from his words faded into existence, the kitchen noticeably vibrated.

It shook once. Twice. Thrice.

Thankfully, Mia and Yun Qiqi were ready for this.

They caught the plates before they fell, saving them from certain doom.

"Good job," Noa commented on the side.

His concentration remained unbroken, feeling the gap in two dimensions and connecting them silently.

Just then—

When the shaking stopped, a familiar rift emerged into the room.

It was no different from any other portal Noa had created so far, and bypassing the twenty-four-hour cooldown was as easy as breathing.

But it was Evan’s first time seeing Noa manifest a portal.

It just appeared out of thin air and expanded without making a single noise.

"So," Noa asked, bumping shoulders with him. "What do you think? It’s... cool, right?"

The man nodded at first.

He seemed too fascinated to speak, his eyes not even blinking.

However, his heart raced, and his breathing quickened. The scene before him... it was pretty. Magnificently so.

"It’s fascinating," he said finally.

Although his voice sounded too calm and his expression was hard to read, the siblings could tell that he felt way more than he was showing.

In this prevailing silence, as everyone watched the growing rift, Umbu leaped out of the chair.

He didn’t aim for Noa.

Neither Yun Qiqi was his target, disappointing both of them.

Not even Mia, who had just cooked for him, registered on his radar as the dragon chose Evan for his next seat.

The man didn’t exclaim.

Yes, he was startled when this little and fat creature decided to soar through the room and land on his shoulder, but he remained calm, breathing deeply.

"Don’t be alarmed," Noa advised. "He is like a son to me, and I promise he won’t bite."

Evan’s eyes widened instantly.

He hadn’t asked too many questions when Noa brought the little girl into the house and said she was his little sister.

He even took her as his new daughter.

Sharing love was something he had taught his children, but it went beyond his expectations.

Now, Noa was telling him that he had a son.

What’s worse, it was a dragon.

A fat one at that, who couldn’t even fly and had no teeth.

Evan knew that Umbu wasn’t Noa’s actual son, but it was still weird to digest. But looking at his oldest child, he realized that something like this might become frequent in the future.

Thankfully, he didn’t know how Puff was born.

As for Umbu, he didn’t move strangely or anything. He just rested silently, massaging his bloated belly.

Occasionally, his wings and tail touched Evan’s skin.

It was firm, yes, but there was a subtle softness to it, increasing his curiosity.

"Can I pet him?" he asked after the portal finished materializing, its final form waiting for Noa to enter.

"Of course," Noa answered, taking a short step toward the rift.

Still, he kept an eye on his father and his son.

Looking at them with interest, Noa observed how Evan carefully moved his hand toward Umbu’s head, dodging the horns on the way.

Then—

The contact was made.

Rough fingers brushed against the dragon’s skull, sending pulsing pleasure through his body.

"He is so soft," he muttered, his fingers still moving.

After the head, it was time for Umbu’s paws, their squishiness fascinating the man again. But he wasn’t done just yet. He couldn’t stop there.

There was so much more he wanted to find out.

Umbu, meanwhile, giggled with every touch, feeling ticklish.

Despite that, he didn’t hide from Evan, nor did he fight back, letting the affection calm his energetic body.

With each passing second, the connection between them was formed.

Even Evan felt that.

His heart stirred like he was actually holding his flesh, finally accepting the fact that the creature in his hands could be his grandson.

"I am going to raise him as the greatest dragon," he declared proudly.

Noa squinted his eyes, surprised.

He glanced at Mia, who chuckled and shrugged at the same time, also confused by her dad’s reaction.

It happened too quickly—the dragon wanting to spend time with Evan, and Evan accepting him as family far faster than anyone expected.

Neither of the siblings knew what to make of the situation.

Especially Mia, who wanted to slap the cheeky dragon.

She had tried so hard.

And yet, it wasn’t enough, as Umbu still chose someone else.

Amidst her forming new plans in her head, Noa urged them to hurry up and took Puff and Qiqi with him.

He also gestured for Mia to help their father and Umbu’s duo.

Then he stepped inside the portal and vanished from the scene.

One minute later, Noa opened his eyes and found himself standing inside the corridor, blinded by the sudden lights.

"I am glad you told him," Yun Qiqi said out of nowhere.

Massaging her eyes, she barely looked at him, but the words were enough for Noa to understand what she wanted to say.

"Yeah," he answered, inhaling deeply. "I wanted to spend more time with him. Letting him miss out on this amazing adventure felt like a total loss."

"Big Brother Noa is always right," the girl said, patting his back.

Noa smiled because of her genuine smile.

His mood improved each time he spent even a fraction of a second conversing with her.

Just then—

The rift showed more figures.

They all emerged simultaneously, walking next to each other.

Even Umbu, despite his laziness, seemed to mimic Evan, following his footsteps closely.

Mia emerged beside them.

She had a casual grin playing on her face, caused by excitement, as her heartbeat quickened in anticipation.

Ligma always fascinated her.

Everything was so fresh and wonderful that she could never get enough of it.

Especially knowing that she was talented, and with enough practice, immense strength would be within her grasp.

So, without wasting a single breath, she said, pushing Evan towards the door.

"Come with me. I am going to show you a fireball."
