Chapter 638: Thousand Regions of Middle Domain

They stood before a towering mountain peak, and the view was nothing short of breathtaking. The skies above stretched endlessly, painted in hues of soft gold and pale lavender, with drifting islands floating lazily among the clouds.

From this vantage point, the world felt endless and divine. Max’s eyes widened slightly, not just at the beauty but at the feeling—thick, rich mana filled the air like a living ocean. Every breath he took seemed to pour strength into his body, refreshing him more than any cultivation pill ever could.

’It isn’t just that.’ He closed his eyes, and in that moment, he felt it—his four concepts, each representing a law he had spent years trying to understand, began to stir within him. They pulsed gently, resonating with the very air. It was as if the world around him recognized his path and welcomed it.

The sensation was surreal—his lightning, flame, space, and sword all aligning, reacting, syncing with the invisible rhythm of the Middle Domain. And in that moment, Max understood the fundamental difference between this place and the Lower Domain.

In the Lower Domain, the laws of the world were fractured, incomplete—mere glimpses of the true system that governed existence. There, it was like trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing.

But here... here, the laws were whole. Complete. Perfect. He could feel the structure of the world embracing his thoughts, making comprehension flow easier, natural. He didn’t even need to sit in meditation—just standing here, breathing, was enough to begin grasping the next layer of truth.

It was precisely because of this overwhelming abundance of mana and the presence of complete natural laws that the people of the Middle Domain stood leagues above those of the Lower Domain.

Max understood now—it wasn’t just about talent or potential anymore. In the Lower Domain, no matter how gifted someone was, they were still shackled by the limitations of their environment.

Comprehending even a level one concept there required a medium—be it a treasure, a special inheritance, or something like the Tower of Truth—just to make sense of the fractured laws that barely held the world together.

But here, in the Middle Domain, the laws were woven seamlessly into the very air. All one needed to do was breathe, to sit quietly and feel, and the path to higher comprehension would begin to unfold.

Even someone like Drevon, who had reached halfway into the Master Rank could easily and truly reach that rank if he were to come to the Middle Domain.

The difference between the two domains wasn’t a gap—it was a chasm. A drop of water compared to an endless ocean. And that realization settled into Max’s bones.

Now he truly understood why the people of the Middle Domain looked down on those from the Lower Domain. They weren’t just stronger—they had been raised in a world that made them stronger by default. The air, the ground, the very laws of the world nurtured them like favored children.

Max didn’t feel discouraged though. On the contrary, it filled him with burning anticipation.

"This is it then," Aria’s voice drifted softly through the crisp mountain air, pulling Max’s attention away from the scenery.

He turned to her, meeting her calm gaze as she continued, "This is our deal, and we fulfilled our part."

Max nodded with a slight smile, his expression sincere. "I appreciate that." He meant it.

From the moment they made their deal, Aria and Elias had been straightforward. They hadn’t tried to manipulate him or exploit any loopholes in the agreement they’d made. Whether it was because of the binding soul contract or because they were simply the kind of people who honored their word, Max wasn’t entirely sure—but he respected them for it either way.

There was no deception, no hidden trap. They had done exactly what they promised—getting him safely into the Middle Domain.

"Well," Max exhaled, glancing toward the horizon, "I guess I’ll see you two around."

Aria tilted her head slightly, curiosity flashing in her eyes. "Where are you heading? The Great Ruler Empire?"

"That’s the plan," Max confirmed. It was indeed his goal. He had two main objectives in the Middle Domain—to reconnect with the Black Lotus Guild and explore the possibilities within the Great Ruler Empire. Whichever one crossed his path first would determine his next steps.

Aria nodded in understanding and offered a useful tip. "If I recall correctly, the Great Ruler Empire is preparing to recruit a batch of geniuses next month. They’re holding a selection in the Stormwind Region. You should go there."

"Thanks for the information," Max replied with a grateful nod.

"Alright then," Aria said with a warm smile. "We’ll be going."

"Take care," Max said, stepping back as she and Elias climbed aboard the void shuttle.

The shuttle shimmered with a gentle hum, then lifted smoothly off the mountain peak. A second later, it darted into the sky, vanishing among the clouds, leaving Max standing alone with the wind tousling his white hair and a new world ahead of him.

Max stood still for a few moments after the void shuttle disappeared into the sky, its faint hum slowly fading into silence.

Then, with a long exhale, he turned and walked toward the edge of the mountain peak. The view stretched endlessly before him—clouds like rivers, peaks like islands, and mana so thick it shimmered faintly in the air. For the first time in a while, he felt truly alone.

’Time to read the diary.’ He sat down cross-legged, the wind brushing against his clothes, and reached into his spatial space.

With a flick of his fingers, he pulled out a worn, leather-bound diary. Its surface was old, faded, and cracked in places, but it pulsed faintly with spiritual energy. It was the diary gifted to him by the Old Saintess before he left the Lower Domain—a compendium of knowledge, a map to navigate the vast unknown world ahead.

He opened it slowly. Inked letters, neat and precise, danced across the pages in an elegant hand. The first few Chapters laid out the foundational knowledge of the Middle Domain. As Max read, a new image of the world began forming in his mind.

The Middle Domain wasn’t a single empire or continent—it was a massive realm divided into thousands of smaller regions, each governed by its own power. These regions varied greatly in size, resources, and influence, and were categorized by the strength of the forces that ruled them.

Third-class forces controlled the smaller regions—these were guilds, clans, or empires with a decent reputation but limited influence.

Second-class forces ruled over stronger and more prosperous regions, commanding respect from their neighbors and often possessing some legendary legacies or powerful experts.

And then there were the first-class forces—true giants who dominated entire regions, had deep foundations, countless experts, and could even rival some corners of the Four God Nation in authority and strength.

Each first-class force was essentially a kingdom of its own, often ruling dozens or even hundreds of lesser factions beneath their banner.

And above all stood the Four God Nation—untouchable, all-encompassing, the pillars of the Middle Domain.

But there were exceptions... A few other powers, though not officially part of the Four God Nation, stood shoulder to shoulder with them. The Great Ruler Empire was one of those.

Max continued reading, taking in details about the laws, the trials hosted regionally, the inter-region conflicts, the training grounds, the holy lands, and the hidden forbidden zones spread across the Middle Domain.

His eyes moved faster as the diary drew the map of power in his head. He now understood just how vast the Middle Domain truly was—and how small his existence still remained in its grand scheme.

But Max didn’t feel overwhelmed.

He felt calm.

Determined.

Now, he had direction.

Now, he had clarity.
