Chapter 359: Demon Suppression Tower

Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Demon Suppression Tower

The next day.

On another mountain across from Queyun Palace at Qianfeng Ling Mountain, Yu Sheng and several others were led by True Man Yuanling and Xuan Che towards the location of the Demon Suppression Tower.

"In this world, there are many dangerous and deceitful things that must be contained and sealed by various means. Each has their own methods," True Man Yuanling walked briskly, explaining to the guests as he navigated the mountain path, "Boundary Land is recognized as the best in this field. The thirteen-level containment standards and various containment facilities established by the Special Service Bureau are often regarded as models, and our ’Demon Suppression Tower’ also references many containment approaches from Boundary Land...

"Up ahead is the entrance to the Demon Suppression Tower. We built it on a spirit node of the Mountain Protection Array, utilizing the array’s power to enhance its defenses. Meanwhile, there’s a small, independently operating array below the node to guard against any unexpected incidents.

"Taixu Spirit Hub is not like Boundary Land. There’s not as much bizarre Exotic Realms and strange phenomena, so we haven’t established overly complex containment systems or numerous containment facilities. We merely divided the different containment zones within the Demon Suppression Tower. Less dangerous items are stored on the upper levels, while those of higher danger level, along with some extremely dangerous captives, are imprisoned below. Furthermore, the bottom of this tower leads directly to the Divine Machine Hall, where specialized personnel study relatively controllable dangerous items. It’s akin to the various ’danger laboratories’ of Boundary Land...

"This Demon Suppression Tower was not built in a day, nor did it remain unchanged after its completion. In my master’s generation, there was a special area in the tower called the ’Evil Spirit Hall,’ which contained a bizarre dangerous spiritual body excavated from a mine on the ’Constant Darkness’ star, but by the time my master governed the Spirit Mountain, that spiritual body was finally refined into part of the Mountain Protection Array. The Evil Spirit Hall was then converted into the Forbidden Soul Prison, used to temporarily detain captured Evil Demons..."

True Man Yuanling continued introducing along the way and finally stopped in front of a mountain cliff.

"Here we are, this is the entrance to the Demon Suppression Tower."

Yu Sheng also stopped, looked in the direction True Man Yuanling pointed, and then, together with Erin sitting on his shoulder, went into a daze.

What he saw was a steep mountain cliff that appeared to be cleaved by a massive blade. On the rock wall... there was no "tower" to be seen, not even any signs of architectural structure, but only a massive relief.

The relief was part of a tower’s structure, giving the impression as if the main body of the tower had been "fused" into the mountain, with only part of the outer wall, including the main gate, "imprinted" on the cliff. The relief was incredibly detailed, yet no pathway for entry or exit could be seen—even the door was merely an uneven engraving on the rock face.

Yu Sheng stared at this scene in astonishment, his line of sight moving upwards along the "sculpture" on the rock wall, and then he noticed that the upper part of the relief actually had "people" moving. These lifelike human figures, also imprinted on the rock, were patrolling the lookout above the door with agility resembling living humans.

"Oh my..." Erin craned her neck, gripping Yu Sheng’s hair with one hand to avoid falling, and couldn’t help but exclaim.

"Don’t grab my hair!" Yu Sheng quickly reached up to stop the little puppet’s surprisingly strong grasp, "I’ve already started losing hair, you know that?!"

"This is so cool," Erin seemed not to be listening to Yu Sheng at all and continued holding onto his hair with the other hand, "Look, those people up there are moving!"

True Man Yuanling smiled at the scene but gave no further explanation. Instead, he turned to face the rock wall and clapped his hands three times.

The next moment, Yu Sheng saw that the moving human-shaped reliefs on the rock wall stopped in their tracks, looked down as if observing something, and then two of the "reliefs" leapt directly off the rock wall. When they landed, they had transformed into two Mountain Guardian Disciples clad in Flowing Light Silver Armor and surrounded by flying swords. They bowed deeply to True Man Yuanling.

Erin was stunned, clutching Yu Sheng’s hair with both hands as she exclaimed, "Are they really people?!"

Yu Sheng was also quite amazed, but the sensation from his head made him think he should probably start the habit of wearing a hat...

"Seems to be an illusion technique, combined with space folding," Hu Li, observing this scene, squinted her eyes and seriously commented after a moment of study, "We had this lesson in school! But I slept through that class..."

Luna nodded after listening, "Yes, that’s right."

Yu Sheng now had mostly given up on trying to discern the actual significance of Luna’s "yes, that’s right"—he even suspected it was simply an unlocked audio cue, signifying she had awoken from a dormant state...

Meanwhile, True Man Yuanling exchanged some words with the two Mountain Guardian Disciples guarding the Demon Suppression Tower entrance. The two of them then stepped back, returned to the rock wall, and a moment later, Yu Sheng heard a clattering sound coming from deep within the mountain rock relief. The "door" carved into the stone slowly opened to the sides, revealing a dimly lit corridor inside.

"Please," True Man Yuanling gestured invitingly, "that Siege Giant Divine Soldier is currently being dismantled in the Divine Machine Hall. True Man Qianji will arrive shortly, so we can head to the Divine Machine Hall and have a look first."

With a sense of anticipation and curiosity, Yu Sheng stepped forward to keep pace with True Man Yuanling and Xuan Che, entering the "Demon Suppression Tower."

Just like the "building" at the Special Service Bureau headquarters, this so-called "tower"... once inside, one wouldn’t associate it with a "tower" structure at all.

Yu Sheng felt as if he had walked into a gigantic and complex maze, and the direction of gravity in this maze was topsy-turvy. The corridors, styled with ancient sophistication, criss-crossed in all directions. One moment he was walking on the normal ground, the next he blinked to find himself standing on an inverted ceiling;

After passing through many such strange corridors, he discovered that he had stepped onto a long suspended corridor bridge, beyond which were rows of isolated "compartments." These compartments were not directly connected to the corridor bridge, but were linked by floating bridges driven by enormous mechanisms, altering the connections between the compartments here and there in mid-air;

After proceeding forward an uncertain distance, Yu Sheng’s vision suddenly widened—

The corridor bridge beneath his feet had reached its end. Ahead of him was an expansive open space, much like a massive vertical shaft. The "inner wall of the shaft" consisted of caves of various sizes. Some were equipped with heavy stone doors and solemn ancient pillars; some entrances were embellished like pavilions; while others were simple, barren stone openings emitting a disquieting dangerous aura.

Carved or constructed along the inner wall of the shaft were intersecting passageways guarded by intimidating giant beasts or mechanical men who patrolled along those passages, monitoring the condition of each "prison cell"...

"The ’compartments’ we just passed are ordinary cells, and this ’shaft’ serves as the main containment area," True Man Yuanling raised his hand to explain, "Here, various malevolent beings subdued by Qianfeng Ling Mountain over thousands of years are suppressed, not excluding some highly dangerous out-of-control entities. However, the most perilous ones are not here, but deeper within the entire Demon Suppression Tower—passing through this mountain, reaching deep beneath the earth, sealed by the power of the earth veins.

"Of course, we do not need to venture that deep today; the path to the ’Divine Machine Hall’ is this way..."

True Man Yuanling said, raising the horsetail whisk in his hand, gently waving it towards the side wall of the "shaft."

A staircase that had appeared to be just an ordinary arc-shaped ramp embedded in the "shaft wall" roared to life, linking with another ramp on the opposite side of the shaft under the traction of giant machinery, revealing a door previously unseen at the end of the stairs.

Yu Sheng and his companions crossed the ramp, passing by the guardian divine beast and the several-meter-tall mechanical man at the door, verifying their identities, before entering the "Divine Machine Hall" where the dismantling of the Giant Divine Soldier took place.

Brightly lit, the roof towering, the ancient and dignified round hall housed a twelve-meter-tall "Siege Giant Divine Soldier" standing quietly on a platform. A ring of scaffolding had been set up around it, with Spirit Mountain Cultivators in short robes either standing on the scaffold or floating in the air, busily working around the enormous, ancient mechanical man.

When Yu Sheng walked into the hall, the chest armor and back armor of the Siege Giant Divine Soldier had already been dismantled, as well as parts of the arm armor and headplates. Presumably, once those majestic and heavy armors were removed, what was exposed beneath was an intricate mechanism that dazzled the eyes.

It resembled a "robot," but clearly followed a completely different path.

A robot’s engine wouldn’t have so many profound talismans.

Yu Sheng came beside the dismantling platform, gazing up in amazement at the enormous, complex mechanical construct, confirming after a long look that he truly could not understand it.

But he noticed that Erin at his side seemed particularly engrossed, her little face even displaying a thoughtful expression.

"Can you understand it?"

Erin said matter-of-factly, "No, I can’t!"

"Then why are you looking so intently?"

With her arms crossed, Erin pondered for a moment, her eyes darting around, "I just suddenly had an idea..."

Hearing this, Hu Li turned his head, "The Savior’s ’I have an idea’ spread to you too?"

"Hey, don’t interrupt!" Erin waved her hand vigorously, then continued to look up at the twelve-meter-tall Siege Giant Divine Soldier, speaking slowly, "Yu Sheng, do you think there’s a possibility, where you build me a body that’s one point six seven meters tall..."

Yu Sheng instinctively cut in before she finished, "Didn’t we try that? Spirit Injection just shrinks..."

Erin continued, "Then I can pilot it from inside."

The unfinished half of Yu Sheng’s sentence lodged abruptly in his windpipe with a "choke."
