Chapter 324: Chapter 324: The Number of People in the Travel Agency Remains Steady
The travel agency just added another person—an iron puppet named "Luna."
The amazing part is, even after the new member joined, the human count at No. 66 Wutong Road didn’t really increase.
However, Yu Sheng was quite open-minded about this, seeing as the first "one of his own kind" he met in this world was crafted out of clay and wire. His requirements for organization members were always low, basically just "alive, human-like, and can speak human language," and Luna just barely met these three requirements...
After this, the first task Yu Sheng assigned to Luna was to learn the names of each member of the travel agency.
"Yu-Sheng." She first struggled a bit but managed to learn Yu Sheng’s name.
Next, she pointed at the demon fox girl and stuttered as she said Hu Li’s name: "Hu, Hu... Li."
Finally, there was a tiny puppet standing with arms crossed, looking proud on the coffee table—Luna pointed at the puppet, and from within came a stuttering yet vague voice: "Ai, Ai, Ai, Ai..."
Hu Li couldn’t hold it in halfway and burst out laughing.
Erin glared at the fox girl, just about to ask what she was laughing at, when Luna finally said her name: "Ai-Lin."
The little puppet still stared, feeling like something was off, but couldn’t figure it out after thinking for a while, so she let it go.
Next up was showing the new member around the house and arranging a place for her to stay.
Yu Sheng took "Luna" for a tour around No. 66 Wutong Road and then said to her upon returning to the living room: "That’s basically it. Currently, there’s an empty room on the first floor of this house that’s quite nice. There’s an empty room on the second floor too, but it’s a bit peculiar and not recommended for people. Then there’s the basement and attic... they’re clean and spacious, but I think you’d better stay on the first floor. Also, there’s your usual, uh..."
He trailed off as he looked subtly at the iron puppet in front of him, beginning to brainstorm.
A two-meter-tall iron puppet... what living supplies does she need? How does she shower? Does she need new clothes? Any requirements for beds and bedding? She probably doesn’t need to eat... So what does she need? WD-40?
Luna tilted her head in confusion, looking at the fox girl beside her, finally squeezed out a few words: "Yu Sheng, not moving, thinking?"
"The Savior often does this," Hu Li said, unfazed, while munching on a half-eaten chicken leg, "He’s probably considering what things you’ll need living here. When I moved in, I often made him worry too."
Luna understood, and after a moment, she suddenly reached out and touched Yu Sheng’s shoulder.
"Holy-Coffin." She said somewhat vaguely.
Yu Sheng didn’t catch it the first time: "Huh, what?"
"Holy Coffin." Luna repeated, this time clearer than before.
Yu Sheng took a few seconds to realize what she meant: "You mean, you have to sleep in that iron coffin?!"
Luna slowly nodded, then perhaps worried about misunderstanding, added two more words with difficulty: "Must-have."
Yu Sheng blinked, this time fully grasping it.
"You mean, you must rest in that ’Holy Coffin,’ so there’s no need to arrange a room for you here?"
"Mm."
Yu Sheng scratched his head; this wasn’t the plan initially.
But he thought about Hu Li’s tail-launching trick and Erin’s ability to split herself into four, feeling a sense of relief.
The Boundary Land itself was known for its outstanding talents and remarkable character, so it was understandable for his agency members to be somewhat peculiar. Compared to Snow White’s seven Thunderbolt Titans, having a new member who just needs to sleep in a coffin wasn’t worth getting worked up over—he was planning on getting Erin some small boxes...
"Okay, then you’ll continue sleeping in that ’Holy Coffin Room,’ since that ship is now part of the travel agency, and the cultists on board have been swept clean," Yu Sheng said, stroking his chin while looking at Luna, "But in that case, you’re still kind of inconvenienced... I’ll open a door in the basement that leads directly to the Holy Coffin Room."
With that, the matter was settled.
Just then, Yu Sheng suddenly thought of something else.
He examined the iron puppet in front of him.
"Luna, do you remember... anything about that ’wilderness’?"
Luna didn’t respond for a moment, just emitted a low hum from within.
Erin was startled upon hearing this: "Huh? It crashed again?!"
As soon as the words fell, Luna turned her gaze toward the direction of the little puppet, then lifted her hand, making a sword-slashing gesture in the void, as if using this method to summon an unreliable memory fragment. Then she nodded: "I remember."
Erin stood there dumbfounded for a moment, and upon realizing, she exploded in anger: "I’ve tolerated you for too long, Type-C Clasp! I bet you’re doing this on purpose!"
The next second, she jumped up in rage and lunged at the iron puppet before her, her fists swinging in the air like shadows—only to be easily caught by the latter, unable to triumph with all her might, her fully stretched arms couldn’t even reach its elbows...
But Erin’s strength lay in her numbers; with one body caught, the other three quickly charged in, attacking from all angles without martial virtue, hanging all over Luna—only to find that their loud commotion and kicking did nothing to break her defense.
Luna didn’t even resist. Upon realizing she felt nothing from these dwarves clinging to her, she simply let go of Erin. Then, after pondering seriously for a few seconds, she added to Yu Sheng: "Thought, dreaming."
Yu Sheng initially thought to control the situation so Erin wouldn’t go overboard, but seeing this, he decided not to bother. Then after hearing Luna’s response, he briefly contemplated: "You’re saying, from your perspective, you thought you were dreaming?"
Luna nodded lightly.
Yu Sheng slightly furrows his brow, pondering deeply.
Luna hesitated momentarily before breaking the silence again, curiously asking: "Then, not a dream? What is it?"
She tried several times before articulating these words clearly.
"Sanctuary," replied Hu Li next to her, having finally finished gnawing on the drumstick and now pulling a bun from her tail. "The soul Sanctuary, I’ve been there before!"
"For those who come into contact with my blood, there are two outcomes," Yu Sheng further explained, "For enemies, I can erode and control them; for allies, I open doors for them, granting permissions and protection.
"During the final battle in the Holy Coffin room, to mend your body, I performed the final step of ’Blood Transfer’ for you like an ally, repairing your shell while granting you access to the Sanctuary Wilderness.
"But your condition was terrible at that time. I suspect this process might have even intensified your mind’s fragmentation, causing part of your mind to drift into the Sanctuary Wilderness, while another part remained in the Holy Coffin..."
Luna listened intently, seemingly still trying to comprehend and digest what Yu Sheng had said. She recalled her several encounters and battles with him, remembering the feeling the first time she was stained by that blood: panic, anger, and even terror.
Back then, the cognition veil was still effective, covering her perception and understanding of the entire world with a layer of lies. She felt that indescribable horrifying pollution seeping through her limbs, inch by inch penetrating her soul. She remembered even severing her own arm, yet the erosion kept spreading within her, even temporarily reaching the knights connected to her mind...
It took until the veil shattered, until Yu Sheng pushed her into the Holy Coffin, and the lid was closed that she felt the peace and tranquility behind the erosion.
And after that, she had a dream.
She dreamed of standing in an endless wilderness, with grand torrents of souls rushing through the high sky, a magnificent mountain standing at the end of the wilderness and torrents, and a weighty, solemn door perched above the mountain.
She dreamed of a grand bonfire fueled by hardships, emitting flames called "hope," burning brightly in the wilderness, guarded by her and her knights, while discussing and planning their future journey in the wild.
She even dreamed of an indescribably grand voice conversing with her, gentle and friendly... seemed like Yu Sheng? Yet she was muddled, unable to hear clearly.
Oh, she also dreamed of a small dwarf, jumping up and down the side while the grand voice spoke.
Very noisy.
So she patted it lightly—just a light pat, yet the small dwarf was smacked straight into the ground.
Luna suddenly awoke from the memory, noticing the dwarves hanging on her arms, shoulders, neck, and thighs, numbering four.
Three were dead, one alive, or perhaps all dead, or maybe all alive.
Truly strange life forms, hardly resembling normal creatures of this world.
But it’s okay, no need to think too much, the dwarves are friends, new family members in the "travel agency."
Luna laughed, picked Erin off her arm, holding her in front, gazing at her earnestly, and spoke clearly: "No fighting, fighting is bad."
Erin was suddenly dumbfounded, lifted by the "Artificial Saintess" into the air, and wondered if it was an illusion, feeling that the always smiling, hollow and cold pale face seemed to have gained some warmth, even the smile transforming into a real, living expression.
"Uh," Erin scratched her head, and her other three bodies climbed down from Luna’s form, "Was quite a fierce battle—since you admit defeat, we won’t fight. Okay, I spare you, Type-C Clasp!"
Luna slowly nodded and gently placed Erin on the ground.
"Okay, little dwarf."
Two seconds later, No. 66 Wutong Road echoed with the furious roar of a little puppet:
"...C·Type·Clasp! You were doing that on purpose!!"
