Chapter 319: Yu Sheng’s Long-term Goal

Chapter 319: Chapter 319: Yu Sheng’s Long-term Goal

Early the next morning, after finishing breakfast, Yu Sheng once again came to the giant spaceship parked in the valley and entered the room where the Holy Coffin was stored.

The black iron coffin remained unchanged, still standing on the platform as before. The buzzing sound from inside seemed like it would continue indefinitely.

"Alright, same as always—I’ve come to see you again," Yu Sheng sighed, sitting on the platform beneath the Holy Coffin, casually knocking on the iron coffin behind him, "Do you plan on waking up?"

Of course, the Holy Coffin made no response, merely continuing its low tremor.

Yu Sheng didn’t expect any response, just muttering to himself while he sensed the operational state of the equipment in the Holy Coffin room: "In case you didn’t know, this spaceship has been completely taken over by me. Now it’s docked at my headquarters. The monks from the Monastery who originally controlled this ship are either dead or fled. The rest are all sent to the Special Service Bureau’s high-end suites—over there, a bunch of friendly psychology experts will chat with them about life, about dreams and such...

"That guy called the ’Sage’ ran away. It’s said that someone of that level is a mid-level leader in the Monastery, holding a rather high status. But he won’t be free forever, you know? I actually hold grudges quite well...

"Last night, your phantom appeared on a piece of wilderness, which is also my territory. It’s called the ’Sanctuary Wilderness,’ a place for wounded souls to rest.

"Speaking of which... can you actually hear me?"

Yu Sheng turned his head, glancing at the dark Holy Coffin.

The dim red lights on the surface of the iron coffin slow flashed, seemingly responding to his gaze like eyes.

Yu Sheng let out a breath, stood up slowly, and patted the lid of the Holy Coffin.

"When you’re well-rested, wake up. Didn’t you have lots of things you wanted to do?—I’ll help you when the time comes."

After leaving those words, Yu Sheng turned and left the Holy Coffin room. He then took out his phone from the hallway outside and dialed Baili Qing’s number: "It’s me, Yu Sheng."

"I figured you’d call me," Baili Qing’s voice came through the receiver, "We’ve accumulated a bunch of questions here."

"I’ve also gathered quite a few," Yu Sheng casually said, "Shall we meet and chat?"

"Sure, I’m in the office."

Yu Sheng acknowledged with a sound, pushed open the door to the director’s office deep inside the Special Service Bureau, and greeted Baili Qing, who was sitting behind the huge desk: "Good morning."

Baili Qing still held the posture of holding a phone, lifted her eyelids to glance at Yu Sheng, who had already taken a seat for himself. Her tone was somewhat helpless: "Despite seeing you so many times, your habit of just pushing the door open is still something to get used to."

"You’ll get used to it, you’ll get used to it," Yu Sheng chuckled, sat down in front of the female director, and went straight to the point, "Let’s get down to business, what’s the current situation with those cultists I brought over? Have the interrogations started?"

"The small-scale interrogations just began this morning," Bai Liqing said matter-of-factly, "This will be a big project, not something that can be resolved in a day or two—we will arrange for the best interrogation experts. For the time being, the focus of the Special Service Bureau will be on this matter."

Yu Sheng raised his eyebrows.

"Even in the history of the Special Service Bureau, this is a rare incident," Bai Liqing continued to say, "Within a few hours, almost an entire ship of Monastery monks had been captured alive, and they aren’t just the lowest-level believers; they are at least ’cultivator’ level, having gone through different levels of ’promotion’ rituals, believers with a certain rank within the Monastery... This time, the Council was really taken aback."

Yu Sheng wasn’t surprised by such an outcome at all.

Then came Baili Qing’s question: "That spaceship... you already ’brought it back’?"

"I parked it in the backyard, right in that valley," Yu Sheng answered frankly and immediately added, "By the way, I won’t be handing that thing over—it’s my personal trophy, and now it’s the travel agency’s property."

Baili Qing was about to speak but was blocked by the second half of Yu Sheng’s sentence. Her expression didn’t change much, but her tone carried a hint of helplessness: "I know, so I just wanted to remind you—are you aware of the ’Deep Space Navigation Convention,’ the ’Interstellar Navigation Law,’ and the ’Jump Safety Assurance Law’?"

Yu Sheng was immediately stunned, realizing that many of the drafts he had prepared hadn’t considered such a situation: "...What?"

"I knew it," Baili Qing sighed, "You definitely haven’t thought about these details. The universe isn’t a lawless zone; navigating a spaceship through interstellar uninhabited regions and within the civilized sphere are two different concepts. Let’s not even mention... If you want to dock at a star port, you at least need to understand guiding signals and channel markers, right?"

Yu Sheng: "..."

He really hadn’t thought about this at all!

From yesterday until now, he was nothing but completely absorbed in the highly impactful event of "having a spaceship at home," and none of the people he had met had reminded him—Hu Li’s family had a spaceship back in the day, but she didn’t even graduate elementary school; Erin has a diploma from an early childhood correspondence course; Hunter was just a Special Service Bureau worker back then; the year the squirrel incident happened, he was eight and a half; Little Red Riding Hood is out of the question, she hasn’t even taken her driving test yet, and she’ll be eighteen next week...

Thinking it through like this, Yu Sheng’s gaze became increasingly clear.

"Luckily you didn’t enthusiastically take the spaceship out for another joyride after bringing it back." Baili Qing said with a calm face, and then stood up, moving a pile of books from a nearby filing cabinet onto the table.

Yu Sheng was startled on the spot: "What’s this?!"

"A beginner captain’s navigation manual, containing navigation regulations of major civilized spheres and most guiding signals recognition methods, jump conventions, near-earth navigation norms. It doesn’t involve specific spaceship operation techniques — I know you have your own ideas on piloting." Baili Qing said, then added, "Additionally, you need a basic star map, which can mark out several major star domains friendly with the Boundary Land and directly reachable, along with the corresponding jump nodes. This effectively prevents you from crashing into someone else’s planet or space station."

She paused, then changed direction: "But this kind of data needs to be directly input into the ship’s navigation computer. If you agree, I will send a batch of technical experts over to study the operation system of that ship—of course, the Special Service Bureau has its own objectives, and this is to investigate that ship and grasp related technology of the Venerate Saints Monastery. I need to clarify this upfront and seek your opinion."

Yu Sheng was dazedly listening until the last sentence jolted him awake, quickly speaking: "Ah right, I also wanted to say, I need a batch of experts. First, to repair the damaged parts of that ship, then to organize the remnant items of the monastery on board, and also as you mentioned, the experts who can handle the operation system. If possible, it would be best to have another team proficient in renovation design; I want to refurbish that ship, and by the way, I need a regular construction team since there’s a new bunch of engineering projects on my end. The ship’s docking platform also needs water and electricity—why don’t you simply send Sun over here then..."

This time it was Baili Qing’s turn to be stunned: "..."

She intended to discuss with Yu Sheng about arranging a team to inspect the ship. Although it was indeed to help, the main purpose was certainly to collect more information about the monastery, yet Yu Sheng’s level of ’active cooperation’ clearly exceeded her expectations.

Suddenly leaping from "allowing the Special Service Bureau to board for evidence collection" to "requiring two thousand engineering experts from the Bureau for travel agency’s spaceship repairs," his deftness at fleecing was astonishing. In her hundred years as bureau chief, the last time she saw someone so shameless...

She had never seen anyone so shameless.

Yu Sheng saw this reaction and realized there might be some misunderstanding, quickly supplementing: "It’s not for free; the accounts still need to be clarified. You can see if the cultists I captured this time are enough to offset the engineering costs. If it’s not enough, then we can count it on Venerate Saints Monastery’s tab, I’ll figure out a way to find their base and capture some more..."

Hence Baili Qing’s feeling shifted from one kind of amazement to another, her facial expression nearly breaking: "...Do you think monastery believers are like radishes in the ground?"

"Whether they’re radishes I don’t know, but they treat people like wheat in the ground," Yu Sheng adjusted his sitting posture in the chair, his tone serene, "My business with them isn’t over yet."

Upon hearing Yu Sheng’s words, Baili Qing’s expression subtly changed.

"Sounds like you experienced some... rather unpleasant things on that ship." She said seriously.

"Artificial Saintess, and those ’Knights’ around the Saintess," Yu Sheng said, exhaling lightly, "are made using living people."

Baili Qing immediately furrowed her brows.

"They have established a specialized ’recruitment ground’ somewhere, maybe a fenced-off land, or even an entire planet, where many people are kept and live in a customized society, cultivated into raw materials for artificial saintesses and knights, harvested wave after wave." Yu Sheng spoke slowly, "That’s one of their ’core technologies.’"

Baili Qing didn’t speak, but on her face, which was always lacking in expression, there seemed to slightly rise a layer of frost.

"I know, that’s a distant planet whose location is unknown, and what happened there has nothing to do with Boundary Land," Yu Sheng continued, "But this matter has blocked my thoughts, so now it’s a personal vendetta between me and them."

"So what do you want to do?" Baili Qing raised her head, looking seriously into Yu Sheng’s eyes, "Find and liberate a planet? Or eradicate the entire Venerate Saints Monastery across the universe?"

"This matter... is quite difficult," Yu Sheng spread his hands, saying candidly, "Currently, the travel agency’s strength isn’t enough, but I think this can be a long-term goal, it’s like I said—why not give it a try?"
