Dimensional Hotel -
Chapter 314: The Return Journey
Yu Sheng found it difficult to describe the feeling coursing through him at this moment.
When he fully “took control” of the ship known as the Pillar of Order—when he merged his consciousness with the cold metal and began to embrace the vast, airless void of space in a form that was no longer flesh and blood—he was overwhelmed by a sense of boundless vastness, mingled with an exquisite loneliness. Yet, despite this, there was a strange sense of peace as he basked in the light of distant stars. It was a feeling of contradiction, stirring and profound, that surged through him, refusing to quiet for a long time.
This was nothing like his experience when he took control of the Night Valley.
He could not quite explain why it felt different—was it the enormity of space? Or was it the nature of this new, steel body itself? Perhaps both.
Yet, he did not resist these feelings.
Standing at the end of the control hall, he gazed out into the endless depths of deep space, while simultaneously, from the ship’s perspective, he assessed his current position and state. His mind drifted through the activated “giant tower,” comprehending it in a way that only he could truly understand, immersing himself in the essence of this new shell.
Time passed—he couldn’t say how long—before his gaze fixed on a particular direction. He raised his hand slightly, the motion unfamiliar, like the first time he reshaped the earth beneath his feet in the Night Valley.
The Pillar of Order’s base and internal structures unfolded, hidden grids revealing themselves in the void. Dark red glows gradually illuminated, and the regular engines ignited. The giant tower slowly began to accelerate.
Then, auxiliary engines lit up in sequence, adjusting the ship’s course.
Minutes later, Yu Sheng paused, his attention turning to examine other systems aboard the ship.He discovered many areas that had been damaged or were in poor condition—some were a result of the Special Affairs Bureau bombardment during the ship’s escape from Mistbound City, while others had been caused by interference during the transition, resulting in overload damage when the phase engine had to shut down abruptly.
These damages had existed when Yu Sheng took control, but he didn’t understand the intricate mechanisms behind them. At that moment, he was unable to repair them.
It seemed that after returning, he would have to rely on the experts from the Special Affairs Bureau to investigate further. Perhaps they could repair it, and once fixed, they could perform another round of “blood bestowal” to “refresh” the damaged sections…
Yu Sheng’s mind raced with various thoughts, his focus never wavering as he continued to assess the ship’s condition.
Fortunately, despite the damages, the ship’s basic functionality was intact. The part of the structure used for transitions was in the worst state, but for Yu Sheng, it had the least impact.
He could “compensate” for the phase engine’s missing critical components with his own methods.
After testing numerous functions and considering many options, Yu Sheng finally took a deep breath, centering himself and synchronizing his spirit completely with the ship. With a gesture as though pushing open a door, he spread his arms wide.
The phase engine charged, and teleportation parameters began to generate—
With a deep, rumbling roar that reverberated throughout the entire vessel, the high tower suspended in space suddenly became an ethereal blur, as though multiple illusions overlapped in one spot. The distant starlight pierced through its immense, transparent structure. At the same time, a quivering crack appeared within the giant tower’s illusion, resembling a space-time rift gradually tearing open. The entire ship began to collapse towards the internal fissure, flipping…
At the same time, deep within the valley.
The roar from the open ground near Black Forest startled a squirrel nibbling on an acorn on a tree branch, a hunter chopping firewood, and Little Red Riding Hood, who, after finishing her homework, was hoping for some peace in the forest to watch videos.
The squirrel screeched as it leapt from the tree and landed on a large rock by the edge of the open ground, staring towards the source of the sound. “Another big project? Another big project? Didn’t hear anything about it!”
The hunter, carrying an axe, emerged and immediately noticed the ground several distances away from the entrance of Black Forest, toward the direction of the Graveyard Hotel hub. A large section of the land was undulating.
It had once been barren land, just stones scattered about, but now it was being leveled at an astonishing speed. The earth and rocks seemed to “melt” and then solidify into a grayish-white, sturdy form. This was the kind of “material” Yu Sheng usually used when shaping buildings. Then, the leveled ground began to shift further, forming deep pits and towering structures that seemed to be preparing a foundation for something colossal. Hard roads extended from this rapidly changing wasteland, connecting to the small path linking Black Forest to the nearby town.
Little Red Riding Hood, along with her wolf pack, stepped out and stared in wide-eyed amazement.
The hunter’s low voice came from beside her. “…Did Yu Sheng mention any major construction plans recently?”
“I haven’t heard anything,” Little Red Riding Hood replied, just as puzzled, her eyes wide with surprise. “Didn’t he just finish reshaping the hub? The interior’s not even done yet—what’s all this?”
“What do you think this is for?” the hunter murmured in confusion.
“Big pit!” Squirrel bounced up, hopping onto Hunter’s shoulder. “Such a big hole, and there’s even a platform around it. They must be making a swimming pool! Maybe it’s for the beautiful mermaids—”
“Beautiful mermaids can’t swim,” Little Red Riding Hood replied seriously.
“They can sink in it,” Squirrel said, excited despite not really knowing why. “Then you can throw a rod from the high platform…”
Little Red Riding Hood opened her mouth, but before she could speak, a rumbling noise from the sky interrupted her.
She froze, staring up. Squirrel and Hunter did the same (although Hunter had no face). A twisted crack was rapidly expanding in the sky, and soon, giant phantoms began to appear around it. In the blink of an eye, the phantoms flipped in a dizzying way, forming a towering, floating structure in the air—a giant tower. The tower was hundreds of meters tall, majestic and imposing. Floating pods, like small towers, circled around the top, connected to the main tower. It looked eerie and magnificent at the same time.
Even the wolf beside Little Red Riding Hood stared, wide-eyed.
The tower then shifted from a mirage to reality. After adjusting its position, it slowly descended toward the freshly finished pit next to Black Forest. It landed precisely in the enormous hole, as if guided by human hands, and the surrounding “rock” structures deformed to secure the towering building in place.
Squirrel finally screamed, “What the heck is this?! Hunter, do you know what this is? Little Red Riding Hood, do you know what this is?”
Hunter didn’t answer. Little Red Riding Hood, slowly coming to her senses, shook her head. “I don’t know, but it was definitely created by Yu Sheng… Maybe it’s for symmetry with the tower up north, near Rapunzel’s place?”
Squirrel interjected, “But Rapunzel’s tower can’t fly! This thing can fly!”
At that moment, Little Red Riding Hood spotted a phantom door near the tower. She sighed in relief—finally, something she recognized.
The door opened, and Yu Sheng staggered out.
Little Red Riding Hood immediately rode the wolf toward him, reaching him in the blink of an eye. Stepping forward, she steadied Yu Sheng, who looked weak and disoriented. “Hey! Are you okay? What happened?”
Yu Sheng waved his hand, his face pale. “Don’t talk, I’m dizzy… feel sick…”
Before he could finish, he started dry heaving to the side. After a while, nothing came out, making him feel even worse.
Little Red Riding Hood, feeling a bit nauseous from his retching, still firmly held his arm, not letting go. It wasn’t until nearly a minute later that Yu Sheng finally seemed to recover a little. He slowly lifted his head and said, “Ah… it’s like being kicked out of a dream by Irene… Long distance warp makes you feel this dizzy?”
Little Red Riding Hood blinked, completely confused. “Huh? What warp?”
Yu Sheng took a long, deep breath, forcing a smile, and pointed to the nearby spaceship. “This? I brought it back from outer space—specialty.”
Little Red Riding Hood’s expression froze, her mind racing to process what he said, but struggling to make sense of it. “Huh… what do you mean, a specialty?!”
“I’ll explain later,” Yu Sheng replied as he recovered most of his strength from the dizziness. Still a little disoriented, he managed to pull his arm free from Little Red Riding Hood’s grasp. “I need to bring Irene and Foxy here…”
With that, he reached into the air and opened another phantom door.
On the other side, the living room of No. 66 Wutong Road appeared—Foxy, Irene, and Xuan Che had just returned home after their teleportation adventure in the high tower. They had been waiting at home for a while.
Moments later, several shocked figures stood beside Black Forest.
Little Doll, standing on the ground, craned her neck to stare up at the towering spire. After a long pause, she blurted out, “You seriously brought the whole tower here?!”
Yu Sheng grinned. “What do you mean ‘brought’? This is a trophy—didn’t I say I’d bring back a specialty?”
Irene stared at him, stunned. “So, your outer space specialty is a spaceship?”
Yu Sheng shrugged. “You tell me if it makes sense.”
Irene had no response.
Just then, Xuan Che turned to them and, with a solemn bow, said, “Eminent one, your methods are as thunderous as the sky.”
Yu Sheng instinctively scratched his head, feeling a little embarrassed by the praise. Before he could humble himself, Foxy approached, tail swishing like a fan on full speed, eyes shining with admiration. “Benefactor, boarding the enemy ship alone, slaying generals and seizing the ship—you’re a true hero!”
Yu Sheng sighed. “…”
