Dimensional Hotel
Chapter 302: Disruption

When Yu Sheng suddenly mentioned a “Plan B,” Xuan Che froze in place, as he had no idea what that meant. Irene, however, was unsurprised—though she didn’t know when this Plan B had been formed, she was already used to Yu Sheng’s ability to come up with new ideas at the drop of a hat. Foxy, on the other hand, didn’t even think twice. The moment she heard Yu Sheng mention the word “tail,” she swiftly turned and yanked a tail from behind her—this caused Xuan Che’s second moment of confusion.

Then the demon fox girl belatedly realized what had just happened, hurriedly turning to Yu Sheng and exclaiming, “Benefactor! I’m coming with you!”

“This time, I’m going alone,” Yu Sheng quickly replied, holding Foxy’s tail in his arms. “The situation up there is unclear, and I’m not confident. It’s too risky for you to come with me.”

Foxy stared intently into Yu Sheng’s eyes, but noticing his resolute attitude, she—who was always well-behaved—didn’t press further. She simply nodded obediently. “Alright, where do you want me to shoot it to?”

Yu Sheng already had a plan. “Straight toward the top of the tower—I saw that place start to ‘flicker’ first. If this thing is trying to teleport, the tear should be up there.”

The silver-white fox tail in Yu Sheng’s arms began to tremble slightly, and instinctively, Yu Sheng tightened his grip around its middle. Though there was no third-party perspective, he could tell that his current posture might seem a bit awkward. He quickly pushed both Irenes off his shoulders, one of them still calling out as she jumped down, “Hey, what’s your plan once you get up there? You gonna cut this thing off by opening a huge door and stop it?”

“I haven’t figured it out yet, just going up to take a look,” Yu Sheng answered earnestly. “If that doesn’t work, we’ll use your idea. My door can directly cut through space, theoretically, it should be able to stop it. If it fails, we’ll meet back on the ground in half an hour.”

Just as he finished speaking, the fox tail in his arms erupted into a bright flame. As the fox fire expanded and exploded, a powerful shockwave hit him, and Yu Sheng cried out, “Oh no!” before clutching onto the fluffy tail. In the next moment, he shot upward toward the towering giant tower.

Irene, standing on the ground, looked up at Yu Sheng as he flew higher and higher, muttering, “…He really looks like a fart shot into the air.”

Then, she added, “But this time, he’s gone back to his usual habits… the kind that aren’t afraid of dying.”

Foxy, on the other hand, murmured with a touch of grievance, “Sigh, the benefactor didn’t take me with him.”

Irene retorted, “He didn’t take me either!”

Xuan Che didn’t pay any attention to the chatter between Foxy and Irene. From the moment Foxy had pulled out her tail to the instant Yu Sheng had launched into the air, he’d been focused on stabilizing his Dao heart. By the time he managed to steady it, his worldview was still in disarray. After Irene and the others finished talking, he raised a hand and pointed at Foxy, then at Yu Sheng, who was already nearing the top of the tower. “You… he… you all…”

Irene waved her hand dismissively before he could finish. “You’re just too shallow.”

Xuan Che let out a long sigh, pulling out a few pills from his robe and tossing them into his mouth as he muttered in frustration, “…Yes, I’m shallow.”

Irene, startled, gasped, “Hey! Just saying you’re shallow doesn’t mean you have to poison yourself!”

Xuan Che sighed again. “…It’s a stomach-strengthening digestion pill.”

By this time, Yu Sheng had completely tuned out the situation on the ground, his full attention fixed on the swiftly approaching high tower.

The tower’s flickering had grown more intense. The upper half of the structure had almost completely dissolved into a transparent, ethereal state, and the artillery fire from afar struck the tower, visibly passing right through it.

Yu Sheng didn’t understand the mechanics behind it, but he suspected that the teleportation process was nearing completion. Fortunately, despite the immense size of the tower, the black-tech of the Holy Revere Hermitage couldn’t instantly shift it out of this world. There should still be a little time before it could fully leave.

Holding onto the fox tail, Yu Sheng flew through a barrage of firepower—missiles, beams, and high-energy particle clusters tore through the air with sharp howls. It seemed that the Special Affairs Bureau had already noticed the odd figure flying with a fox tail. Soon, Yu Sheng noticed the incoming barrage thinning out, with all attacks now focused on the lower half of the high tower.

The fox tail reached the tower’s peak and began to circle around at a dangerously close distance.

Yu Sheng attempted to adjust the fox tail’s floating position, tugging on its fur. Instantly, the nine-tailed fox on the ground responded, shifting the tail’s position according to his guidance, aligning it with the transparent, almost dimensionless tip of the tower.

It was a strange sensation. Yu Sheng felt that even in his wildest dreams or most fantastical writings, he had never imagined such a scene.

Riding a fox tail through a rain of bullets to intercept a tower about to make a dimensional leap—a sentence that could only seem utterly absurd if missing several hundred thousand words of buildup.

But here he was, holding onto a fluffy tail, floating at the top of this surreal giant tower.

He stretched out his hand, attempting to touch the transparent illusion before him. He felt nothing but a slight quiver in the air.

What should he do next? How could he intercept the building that was in the process of initiating a teleportation?

If it were the Special Affairs Bureau, with sufficient preparation, they would likely have interference devices such as a “warp disruptor” or a “gravity trap generator.” If it were Xuan Che, his homeland, those immortals would have large formations or magical treasures capable of stopping such teleportations. But none of that was available now.

Yu Sheng reached out, his hand suspended in midair. He knew there was not much time left, yet in that moment, his heart felt unnervingly calm.

He closed his eyes slightly, focusing on his senses and thoughts.

His thoughts guided him forward, while his senses kept his thinking from straying too far off. He recalled the sensation of opening a door, attempting to open one within the tower’s interior. Although the tower was no longer “here,” it had left behind an image. And with the image, there was still a “connection.”

A door was the manifestation of “connection,” proof that two spaces, two locations, had formed a bond. As long as there was even a tiny thread of connection, the door could open.

Yu Sheng thought of this, his hand landing on a doorknob.

He tried to turn it, but just before the door could open, he felt something else.

It was the trembling of space.

The tower was disturbing the fabric of spacetime.

This “disturbance” created an invisible ripple, one Yu Sheng couldn’t quite understand. He couldn’t see any connection between this spatial ripple and the high tower’s “teleportation,” but he guessed that the stability of this ripple had everything to do with the blood pressure and heartbeat of the heretic cultists hiding inside the high tower.

Now, this was interesting.

Yu Sheng “focused” on the ripple released by the high tower, and using the method of opening a door and “assigning value,” he added a noise to one of the waves.

Then he heard a loud “boom” followed by darkness.

In the control room at the top of the high tower’s “pillar of order,” dozens of holy Revere Hermitage priests anxiously watched over various control devices, waiting for the high tower to stabilize from its danger.

The exposure of the holy sanctuary had been a huge accident. No one had expected the artificial Saintess to fail twice in succession, nor had anyone anticipated that the powerful spatial cloaking system would suddenly collapse for unknown reasons. The speed of response from the Special Affairs Bureau and the strength of the forces they deployed was the second surprise. When the two “Hunting Owls” appeared on the radar, Sage issued an emergency jump command, but even then, the high tower took a solid hit during the first wave of fire.

Luckily, the high tower’s shields and outer shell withstood the heavy fire from the “Hunting Owls,” and the phase shift effect from the subsequent transition allowed the “pillar of order” to avoid most of the follow-up attacks.

Now, the intense tremors throughout the high tower were gradually subsiding. The dense fog on the external monitors was slowly replaced by the displaced light and shadow of the teleportation system’s startup. They were finally safe.

The priests in the control hall breathed a collective sigh of relief. Despite the mission’s failure to some extent, the joy of salvaging important assets of the organization allowed everyone to relax. A tall, thin elder in a white robe, seated among the priests, nodded slowly, preparing to arrange the follow-up inspection and repairs.

However, just then, a terrifying series of ripping explosions and even fiercer tremors than the first wave of bombardment reverberated throughout the high tower. It felt as though a series of heavy bombs had gone off inside the giant tower, shaking everyone in the hall. Amidst the panic, the screeching alarm bells of the system rang from all sides:

“Teleportation interference! Alert, fatal error! Teleportation interference! Phase conversion failed… Navigation offline! Alert, navigation offline! Teleportation interference!”

The alarm noise grew more jarring, and the various system warnings echoed all around. Multiple system failures triggered chain reactions, and the technicians at the consoles let out almost wailing screams. A Hermitage Member leapt to his feet and looked at the tall, thin elder in the center of the room: “Sage! We’ve been attacked! Unknown teleportation interference!”

“Exit the jump! Quickly!” The white-robed elder’s calm demeanor vanished, “Before the phase engine collapses!”

“Exiting! Prepare for impact—We’re going to drop out of hyperspace!”

The next moment, the final, thunderous explosion and violent tremors nearly knocked half of the people in the hall unconscious.

The ones still conscious were left staggering, blood flowing from their noses and mouths. They slowly recovered from the intense shock of the spatial displacement, their minds beginning to clear, and they instinctively looked toward the window.

Outside the heavy composite porthole, there was nothing but an unfamiliar, dark starry sky.

The entire “pillar of order” had been reconfigured by some unknown force, its teleportation parameters altered, casting it into the desolate void between the stars.
