Chapter 788: Chapter 789

"Thanks, I guess it’s about time I got engaged, you know? My boyfriend’s been breathing down my neck. He’s paranoid I’ll fall for one of these A-listers I work with." Jossie chuckled, "Especially since that

time he saw Romeo waving at me, and David here bought me a burger. And all those young hunks goofing around with me – that very night, my guy dropped to one knee and popped the question.

Hilarious, right?"

Rosemary laughed, instantly understanding the boyfriend’s predicament.

"You’ve got to come, okay? Even though we just met today, I really like you. Oh, right, did you need something? Wanted to ask if David got the tea? He drank it. Heard it was from you and was thrilled."

"No, it’s not about the tea." Rosemary smiled. "Ms. Kiki mentioned you had a mask for someone."

"Yeah, Summer’s due any minute, and she never shows her face when she makes an entrance, so Ms.Kiki asked me to get a mask ready for her. Wait, how did you know what Ms. Kiki told me on WhatsApp?"

Rosemary just smiled knowingly.

"You don’t know Ms. Kiki, do you? Or is it Summer you’re acquainted with? It seemed too coincidental.

One second I’m telling you Merry couldn’t make it because of some scandal, the next Summer’s offering to step in. It’s you, isn’t it? You’ve done your brother a solid!"

Just then, Rosemary’s phone rang. It was a video call from Ms. Kiki.

"Ms. Kiki." Rosemary answered, greeting her warmly.

"Summer, darling, I’ve asked David’s assistant, Jossie, to prepare a beautiful mask for you. Just pick it up backstage. They’ve got stylists and makeup artists there, and a selection of dresses. I’m still abroad and can’t make it back in time. Will you be okay on your own?"

"No problem."

"Thanks, dear. Once I’ve wrapped up things here, we’ll catch up."

"Sure thing."

Jossie stood frozen, speechless with shock.

"Oh, and are you backstage? Did you see Jossie? I want to have a word with her."

Rosemary handed the phone to Jossie.

Jossie barely registered taking the phone, stunned silent until Ms. Kiki finished talking. She couldn’t believe it. David’s sister was Summer.

And the kicker was, even David didn’t know his sister’s true identity.

"Jossie, are you listening to me?" Ms. Kiki’s voice came from the other end of the video call.

"Yes." Jossie snapped back to reality. "I’ve got everything you mentioned. There are plenty of masks and gowns for Summer to choose from. If she’s not satisfied, our stylists can customize on the spot."

"As for the makeup and hair, we can use David’s team. I’ll also make sure the backstage crew keeps all details about Summer confidential. After her performance, we’ll have security and a car ready to escort her out, no disturbances."

"I’m just worried, Summer’s all by herself."

"Don’t worry, I’ll stick by her side. If she’s thirsty, I’ll get her a drink. Hungry, I’ll fetch her something to eat. I promise to take good care of her."

"Thanks a bunch. I owe you dinner when I get back."

"Please, Ms. Kiki, it’s I who should thank you for coming through in a pinch."

"Look, I owe you one for bringing this up with your contacts, but this is a first for me. If you really want to thank someone, thank Summer. Gotta dash, bye."

After hanging up the call, Jossie looked at Rosemary in astonishment. "Thank you, Summer. Oh, I mean,Rose. What should I call you now, Summer or Rose? You’re amazing, you know? Just a moment ago, I

thought you knew Ms. Kiki or Summer, but you are Summer herself."

Her gaze thoroughly appraised Rosemary from head to toe. That figure really did resemble Summer’s.

How had she not noticed this before?

"What about the outfit?" Rosemary asked with a light smile.

"Right here." Jossie handed her the phone back and led her to the wardrobe area. "We’ve got some dresses here for the female guests. They’re all brand new and tailored. You’re so slim. Any of these

should fit you perfectly."

Rosemary’s eyes settled on a beautiful, light blue gown, adorned with exquisite handmade floral patterns and ornate embroidery that made her look like a mermaid risen from the sea – noble, elegant, and ethereal.

Jossie was astounded by how Rosemary looked in the gown, "It’s stunning on you. It’s like that dress was made just for you."

Rosemary felt the look was passable. "Got any hair ties?"

"Sure, just give me a sec. I’ll call the stylist and the makeup artist over."

"No need." Rosemary quickly swept her hair up into an elegant bun, her beauty even more radiant.

Jossie couldn’t resist taking out her phone to capture Rosemary’s dazzling presence, thinking of keeping it as a memento for David.

"How about a mask?" As Rosemary turned, the fleeting look on her face was breathtakingly mesmerizing.

Jossie mentally exclaimed ’gorgeous’ a thousand times over before presenting a box. "They’re all in here."

Rosemary chose a lovely blue mask that transformed her into a princess from the depths of the ocean, poised and charming.

"You look absolutely beautiful." Jossie complimented from the heart.

Even with just her clear eyes showing through the mask, Rosemary’s beauty was still captivating.

Her allure was natural, shining from within. It was hard to believe someone could look so stunning without any makeup.

"We’re set." Rosemary checked the time; she was ready to make her entrance.

"I forgot to get you shoes. What size do you wear? Heels or flats?" Jossie was eager to fetch the perfect pair.

"No need." Rosemary had no intention of changing her footwear. She was tall enough already, and with the gown’s length grazing the floor, it neatly concealed her canvas sneakers.

"Then come with me. You’re going to be on a lift that will gently lower you to the stage from above."

Jossie began, but then she stopped and asked, "Are you afraid of heights? If you are, we can just lift you up from below the stage."

"I’m fine."

"Great, I’ll take you up." Jossie carefully held up Rosemary’s gown and guided her to the lift that would take her to the stage’s heights, helping her onto the platform. "I’ll change the giant screen to an ocean

scene. From the audience’s perspective, you’ll look like a mermaid surfacing from the depths. Maybe add a few gestures for effect."

As Jossie finished her instructions, she realized her advice might be superfluous. After all, she was assisting Summer, the icon who knew all about captivating an audience.
