Chapter 786: Chapter 787
The applause thundered through the arena as David’s second song ended, and he descended gracefully with the piano, disappearing from the crowd’s view.
"David, this is the tea your sister prepared for you, to soothe your throat." his assistant said, promptly bringing him a mug.
Hearing it was made by his sister, David grabbed the mug and downed it in one gulp. "Is there more?"
"Yeah, she made plenty," Jossie said with a smile, taking the empty mug. "I’ll brew you another."
In the meantime, the style team swooped in. One whisked away David’s jacket, another swiftly helped him into a fresh outfit, while two more slipped off his pants and shoes. David quickly got dressed in the new attire, and at the same time, a hairstylist swiftly gave him a new ’do, while a makeup artist frantically touched up his face.
The lift was slowly rising, and an opening in the stage revealed the dazzling lights and the deafening screams of the fans.
"The mic’s not ready yet." Jossie quickly adjusted it for him.
As the lift neared the stage level, the stylists, makeup artist, hairstylist, and Jossie hurried off, leaving David alone to ascend tranquilly to the stage.
The giant screen came to life, and countless pink petals fluttered across it. Soon after, real petals began to scatter down into the crowd.
Fans gasped in delight, "They’re real petals."
"Oh my gosh, how romantic."
Many reached out to catch them - these were petals from David’s concert, a must-have souvenir!
"Did I hear some fans are planning to propose tonight?" David announced, and the arena erupted, with fans screaming and waving their glow sticks frantically.
"Shall we invite them on stage?"
David’s words sent the fans into another frenzy, chanting in agreement, "Yes!"
Couples walked onto the stage hand-in-hand, some of the women even dressed in bridal gowns.
Long before this night, David’s official social media had teased that there would be a proposal segment during the concert, urging couples to come prepared with rings.
Rosemary hadn’t expected so many couples to propose tonight. There seemed to be at least a hundred pairs, and the stage was buzzing with excitement.
Among them were several older couples, looking like they’d been together for ages. Some elderly men seemed to want to re-propose to their wives, to create a beautiful new memory, so they shakily made their way onto the stage.
At that moment, Romeo wanted to pull Rosemary onto the stage with him. "Cut it out." she protested.
"It’s crowded and the lights are dim. Nobody will recognize us," Romeo whispered in her ear. "I want to propose to you."
The word ’propose’ sent a thrilling shiver through Rosemary, but she didn’t want the spotlight on them.
However, Romeo just swept her up in his arms.
The front row of business moguls, female shareholders, and entertainment industry veterans were all astounded. Was Romeo really going to carry a girl onto the stage? Was he going to propose to his girlfriend?
Who was this girl that had captured his fancy to such an extent?
Alma’s face turned gloomy. She couldn’t believe Romeo would make such an immature move, proposing to Rosemary in front of everyone.
Wasn’t he afraid of losing his CEO dignity in public?
"Put me down." Rosemary didn’t want to draw attention.
There were other guys lifting their girls onto the stage, and the concert was filled with the fans’ cheers.
"Romeo, did you hear me? I want to get down."
Even though Rosemary raised her voice, it was drowned out by the noise of the crowd.
Romeo immediately sensed her discomfort and set her down, then took her hand and walked step by step up the stage stairs.
There were so many couples on stage that even when Romeo and Rosemary tried to stand at the back, their height and presence drew attention.
"Those two at the back are such a good-looking couple."
"Yeah, even their masks can’t hide their good looks. I’m dying to see the faces beneath those masks. They must be stunning."
"Are they some kind of influencer couple? Or maybe bloggers? They just have this aura about them."
They stood out among the couples with such an effortless grace.
Since the moment they took the stage, David had been keeping an eye on them. Although he had long accepted Romeo as his future brother-in-law, he never imagined that he’d play the role of a
matchmaker and witness a proposal, pouring out his blessings.
"How about we give the gentleman a minute to make his proposal, folks?" David’s voice filled the room through the microphone. "And for the guys in the crowd, now’s your chance to call that special lady and confess your love."
The audience erupted in cheers once again.
David made a shushing gesture, and silence fell over the room once more.
With a gentlemanly wave, he signaled for the men to start their declarations of love as a giant screen began a 60-second countdown.
Each man on stage took a knee, slowly expressing their love to the women before them.
Romeo was no exception. He took Rosemary’s hands in his and knelt down, his voice tender and sincere, "Rose, from the moment I saw you, you’ve taken root in my heart. In this lifetime, I want no one
but you. Even though we’re already promised to each other, I still want to propose properly. Marry me. I want to give you a lifetime of happiness and protection, to be with you forever, openly and honorably, caring for you, being with you, protecting you. Before coming to this concert, I found out about the proposal segment, so I designed a ring especially for you."
As he spoke, Romeo took out an exquisite box and opened it to reveal a stunning diamond ring that sparkled brilliantly under the lights.
"Say yes, Rose," Romeo urged, his expression filled with hope and nerves.
"Time’s up—" David cooed at the women, "Ladies in the audience, do you wish to marry the man who’s just proposed to you? Let’s hear your answers loud and clear."
Many women shouted in unison, "I do."
Rosemary merely smiled, gazing at the man before her.
Romeo grew more anxious.
"Louder, let the men hear your hearts," David encouraged.
"I do—" As all the women voiced their consent, Rosemary also spoke up, her beautiful lips forming the words Romeo longed to hear his entire life.
"What are you waiting for, fellas? Put the ring on your lady."
Overwhelmed with joy, Romeo slipped the diamond ring onto Rosemary’s finger, they both removed their masks, and shared a kiss filled with deep affection.
The stage was a sea of couples, each locked in a heartfelt kiss.
David began to sing his third song, "Romance," and even the couples in the audience couldn’t resist joining in the embrace.
The venue was awash with warmth and romance.
Pink petals continued to flutter down.
As David finished the chorus, some couples slowly pulled apart, their eyes brimming with sweetness and joy.
They sang along with David, dreaming of their happy futures together.
When the song ended, David announced with a smile, "Tonight, as your matchmaker, how about I treat everyone to wedding candies? I’m thrilled to witness such an important moment in my fans’ lives and wish all of you who receive these treats a future filled with happiness, adventure, and soaring success."
Suddenly, the sky rained down countless foam heart-shaped boxes in pink, light blue, and all sorts of colors.
The fans screamed with delight, reaching out to catch them.
These foam hearts were soft to the touch, and inside each was a pair of wedding candies.
The newly engaged couples on stage also received envelopes from the staff, filled with surprise and joy at the unexpected red packets.
Some opened them on the spot to find two concert tickets with no expiration date, meaning they could attend any of David’s future concerts.
No more tickets needed.
