Detective Agency of the Bizarre -
Chapter 92 - 92 Ninety-two
92: Ninety-two.
Kidnapping 92: Ninety-two.
Kidnapping “You’re safe now,”
Lu Li withdrew a few steps after his gaze returned from outside the door, putting distance between himself and the Black Charcoal Ghost.
Even though it restrained its aura to avoid Lu Li, the chilling cold still made it unbearable for him.
This distinct gap between Lu Li and the evil spirit was evident—Lu Li could easily oppress spirits, but not evil spirits.
“Why won’t you let me…fight back?” the blood threads came together but did not retract.
The cold aura of the Black Charcoal Ghost still lingered around.
“He’s a good man, just too presumptuous, possibly radical due to his age.
You are similar in that regard too, including being radical.
Mutual slaughter among you will only please those evil spirits who truly kill for joy,”
“Am I also…like that…?”
The Black Charcoal Ghost murmured, its breath gradually calming down.
Lu Li looked around; the place was no different from when they last met.
“How did you encounter that exorcist?” Lu Li asked.
It was slightly unfortunate he couldn’t develop a relationship, but it was not entirely fruitless.
At the very least, it showed there were people similar to him in the city.
Sooner or later, he was bound to meet others.
“I was at home…painting…my nails when he suddenly appeared and attacked me…because I’m a ghost and he’s an exorcist.”
As the exorcist said, spirits on the verge of turning into evil spirits are extremely emotional; the Black Charcoal Ghost’s breath fluctuated continuously as it spoke, with red gleams flickering in its pupils.
When the Black Charcoal Ghost’s dark red fingertips hesitated slightly, Lu Li fell into contemplation.
Clearly, the exorcist had actively sought it out, perhaps due to a leak of the Black Charcoal Ghost’s aura.
Members of the Taoist Sect surely had methods to detect the presence of spirits and ghosts.
Although the issue was temporarily resolved and the exorcist had left, the matter had not come to a halt.
Perhaps as soon as Lu Li left, the exorcist would secretly come searching.
Should he take it back to the Detective Agency…?
Lu Li pondered thoughtfully.
It seemed like a win-win for both the Detective Agency and the Black Charcoal Ghost, but…
The Detective Agency was too steeped in yin energy.
A play on words.
Two female ghosts, a female assistant, and one mannequin— a female body.
His dark eyes looking toward the Black Charcoal Ghost, Lu Li spoke, “You can’t stay here any longer.”
“I have…no place to go.” A flicker of confusion crossed the shining red pupils.
It, or rather she, had been dead for half a year, no longer possessing her former beauty and pride, and had no kin or friends.
Beyond this rented room, the Black Charcoal Ghost didn’t know where else to go, nor where it could go.
Its aura fluctuated again due to the emotional shift, spreading gloom around it.
Sensing the situation was worsening and while still hesitating, Lu Li directly said, “You can come to my place.”
Shen Yuqiao had gone home, Yang Chunxue was incorporeal, and he himself preferred sleeping on the office chair or sofa—that bedroom could be allocated to the Black Charcoal Ghost.
There might be negative situations like discord between the two ghosts, but the upside was, Lu Li would have two…resentful spirits.
Lu Li changed the subject, “Can you try to rein in your aura and blood threads?
My assistant is just an ordinary person and might not be able to withstand it, and even I would feel uncomfortable.”
Just the aura released by the evil spirit had already made Lu Li’s body ice-cold and stiff; he had to consider strengthening the Resurrecting Ghost manual.
“I…will try.”
The Black Charcoal Ghost responded, trying to contain its own aura.
Its attempt was effective; the dense, emerging blood threads gradually became sparse until they completely disappeared.
In his perception, it was as if a bonfire in a dark forest had turned into fireflies.
Though still glowing, the brightness was limited.
“Is this…okay?”
The Black Charcoal Ghost asked Lu Li.
Its Yin energy no longer leaked out, but with its emotional fluctuations or actions, that malicious, frigid Yin energy would reappear.
“Thank you, much better,” Lu Li nodded.
“Let’s head back.”
“Hmm…”
The Black Charcoal Ghost lowered its head but couldn’t help raising its red pupils to sneak a peek at Lu Li.
…
“Kong Nanqing, this is Shen Yuqiao.
Shen Yuqiao, this is Kong Nanqing.”
Seated on the sofa, Lu Li introduced each ghost to the other, using the coffee table as their boundary like the Chu River and Han border.
“So you brought back a female ghost right after collecting me?”
Yang Chunxue questioned Lu Li with her hands on her hips.
Lu Li’s expression remained calm, “Yes, but I wish you would phrase it more appropriately.”
“You…
never mind,” Yang Chunxue deflated, after all, the Detective Agency was his, and the Black Charcoal Ghost was somewhat of an acquaintance—albeit adversarial.
Lu Li looked at the Black Charcoal Ghost and asked, “What do you usually like to do?”
“Watch…
TV dramas,” the Black Charcoal Ghost answered.
Lu Li tilted his head, “Yuqiao, move the TV into the bedroom.”
“Roger!”
Shen Yuqiao jogged off.
Hearing that the Black Charcoal Ghost would reside in her room, Yang Chunxue suddenly widened her eyes and objected, “I don’t want to stay with this chunk of charcoal!”
The chilling atmosphere spread, the Black Charcoal Ghost’s red eyes flickered, fixated on Yang Chunxue.
Lu Li crossed his legs and said placidly, “Facing reality is one of the good qualities.
You shouldn’t get angry just because someone tells the truth.
Learn to control your emotions.”
Lu Li attempted to reason with the woman, or rather the female ghost.
The atmosphere gradually dissipated.
He had succeeded.
It might have been due to Kong Nanqing harboring good feelings towards Lu Li.
Soon, Shen Yuqiao peeped out, announcing the TV was set up.
Lu Li let the Black Charcoal Ghost see if the TV was working fine, leaving only it and Yang Chunxue in the living room.
“I thought you’d be very angry,” Lu Li remarked.
Yang Chunxue was calmer than he expected, contrary to what he envisioned of the two ghosts confronting each other.
“It’s okay, at least there’s company now, but…
I’d rather reincarnate if I turned out like this,” Yang Chunxue showed a hint of pity, then switched the subject, “By the way, what’s this guy’s name again?
It doesn’t seem right to keep calling him Black Charcoal Ghost…”
She always had a way of saying things straight.
“Kong Nanqing.”
“That actually sounds quite nice…”
“And looks quite nice too.”
“Hmm…?” Yang Chunxue’s bright eyes gradually narrowed.
“You aren’t…”
Lu Li neither confirmed nor denied.
Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding—
At that moment, the phone on the desk suddenly rang, interrupting their conversation.
Shen Yuqiao, who was in the bedroom, also heard the phone ring and looked out, saying, “Oh right, Lu Lili, the phone also rang when you guys weren’t here, but since the other side didn’t speak, I just hung up.”
He rose from the sofa and walked back to sit in the boss chair.
Lu Li picked up the endlessly ringing phone, putting the receiver to his ear.
He remained silent, while frantic pleas for help echoed from the speaker.
“Save me, save me!
It wants to replace me!”
