Detective Agency of the Bizarre -
Chapter 90 - 90 Ninety
90: Ninety.
The Unquiet Journey Home 90: Ninety.
The Unquiet Journey Home The weather was somewhat chilly, possibly due to the rain, or perhaps because of the car’s built-in air conditioning: a ghost.
Lu Li turned on the heater, but there was no response; the car’s air conditioning had broken, and it seemed it had been broken for some time.
Therefore, Lu Li removed the Specter Manual and instead loaded the Pen Spirit Manual, which had a lesser impact on the body.
The effect brought by intuition was barely better than none, but it was still better than having nothing at all.
Approaching noon, an old Xiali car got stuck on the road in the business district.
The hazy outside was a blur of red tail lights, with horns blaring from all directions.
Lu Li took the opportunity to consult the Ghost Envoy Manual and look up the two new manuals he had acquired.
[Traffic Accident Ghost]
Ghost
[Headless Ghost]
Ghost
Both ghosts had no sentences passed.
The former’s manual depicted a young man in a leather jacket straddling a fence, facing the sea with a desolate background.
The latter’s manual showed a scene of beheading, with the executioner standing with furrowed brows on the platform and a tumultuous crowd below, a faint official hat in the distance, sketching an ancient execution scene.
Just as Lu Li was about to try using his powers, the traffic in front jammed slowly moved forward.
The road was cleared.
Setting aside the two new manuals for now, Lu Li pressed the accelerator and headed back to the Detective Agency.
Yang Chunxue was calm in the back seat because she had a mobile phone to play with.
Shen Yuqiao was also calm, hugging a toy while watching Yang Chunxue play with her phone.
Passing Drum Tower Street, Lu Li slowed down slightly, his gaze falling to the roadside.
The route from the amusement park back to the Detective Agency didn’t pass through here, but he still drove through out of habit.
Passing over the bridge, the water flow in Tang He was more turbulent than a few days ago, with storm drains every hundred meters spilling roaring water outward, the sound echoing over the river surface.
He felt no gaze upon him.
Perhaps “the hand” was no longer observing the gate, or it hadn’t noticed Lu Li driving over the bridge.
Lu Li slightly tilted his head, looking toward the Ziyue Garden community not far away.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind and took root in his heart.
This sudden thought drove Lu Li to go to the Ziyue Garden community.
Lu Li had no unavoidable reason or necessity to go, but a faint intuition told him that he would miss something if he didn’t.
Had anything happened with the Black Charcoal Ghost…?
On Drum Tower Street, an old Xiali suddenly turned out of the traffic and stopped by the roadside.
Lu Li turned to Shen Yuqiao and asked, “Can you drive?”
“Hmm.”
“You take the car and head back to the Detective Agency first.
I have something to handle.”
“Huh?” Yang Chunxue looked up in confusion, seeing Lu Li get out of the car.
…
“Taoist Law reigns, demons die!”
A cold shout followed, then the sword struck like a dragon.
The sword light left a mark in the space, turning into an afterimage.
Snap!
Dark palms suddenly came together, revealing a red-tasseled Peach Wood Sword between them, vibrating intensely.
“You dare resist!” The exorcist in the gray robe saw this, his tiger eyes wide open.
He bit his middle finger and smeared it between his index and middle fingers before thrusting forward with a sword tactic!
Hum—
The vibration of the Peach Wood Sword suddenly intensified; as the palms trembled, the sword slowly penetrated beyond the palms, its tip pressing against the chest of the Black Charcoal Ghost.
“Out!”
Hum hum—
With a cold shout, the Peach Wood Sword suddenly shot forward, piercing an inch deep into the chest of the Black Charcoal Ghost.
“Ah!!!!”
The Black Charcoal Ghost cried out in pain, his hoarse voice erupting as a fierce ghostly aura suddenly surged out of him, with dense red strands flashing around his body.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh—
The Peach Wood Sword was swept by the ghostly aura, spinning as it flew out backward.
The exorcist’s pupils constricted sharply as he dodged abruptly, and the next moment, with a thud behind him, a streak of blood appeared on his cheek as the peach wood sword stabbed into the pitch-black cabinet behind him, trembling with a buzzing sound.
If he hadn’t dodged, he would have been pierced by his own weapon and met his demise.
Without time to assess the situation, a bone-chillingly malicious aura of evil energy emanated from the Black Charcoal Ghost, solidifying into a mass and crashing down like a wave.
Seeing this, the exorcist was greatly alarmed.
He spun around and retreated, forming the Protective Body Spell with his hands and fervently declaring, “Expel evil, bind demons, protect life and guard the body!”
The moment his words fell, the malevolent energy surged towards him, unstoppable.
Whoosh—
The exorcist’s robes flapped wildly, his three-inch white beard fluttered in the wind, and his eyes squinted.
Thump thump thump—
Unable to withstand the oncoming sinister energy, the exorcist stumbled backward and crashed into the charred cabinet with a bang.
Shards fell clattering down, the exorcist coughed out a mouthful of blood, his energy weakened.
“Why…
attack me.” The Black Charcoal Ghost’s voice was piercingly cold, red glints flickering in its eyes, and dense clusters of red lines twinkling around it.
The exorcist bared his teeth, revealing a row of blood-stained black and yellow teeth, “You are a ghost, I am an exorcist.
Exorcising demons and defending the Taoist Law is my duty!”
The Black Charcoal Ghost stumbled over its words in defense, “I…
haven’t…
harmed anyone!”
“You are an evil spirit, bound to harm eventually!” the exorcist scoffed.
He suddenly pulled the peach wood sword from beside his head, bit open his index and middle fingers, and drew a blood line across the blade.
“A mere evil spirit dares to fight with me, the exorcist?
You’ve exhausted your tricks!
Since you refuse to be reincarnated properly, I shall send you on your way!”
He snorted coldly, then suddenly tossed up the peach wood sword, his left hand positioned at his waist as if holding a scabbard, his right index and middle fingers raised, as if gripping a sword hilt.
The peach wood sword he threw up hovered in front of him, humming and trembling.
Suddenly, the exorcist lifted his right hand, floundering as he slowly traced four vertical and five horizontal lines in mid-air, then bit his tongue tip and forcefully spewed a mouthful of blood forward.
The exorcist’s face abruptly turned pale, and the blood mist he sprayed enveloped the vicinity of the peach wood sword, lingering without dispersing, slowly gathering along the blade.
A majestic sword aura suddenly radiated from the peach wood sword.
The Black Charcoal Ghost’s red eyes momentarily showed a trace of dread, which was then replaced by anger and resentment.
It roared furiously, “Why…
why do you all seek to harm me!”
The dense red threads nearly turned its entire body blood-red, the flickering red strands causing one’s scalp to tingle.
“You dare resurface?!
Evil ghost, meet your end!”
Seeing all the essence blood absorbed by the peach wood sword, the exorcist no longer hesitated and sharply invoked, “Draw the blade!”
Hum—
The peach wood sword instantly disappeared, vanishing from sight.
One could predict that in virtually an instant, it would pierce the Black Charcoal Ghost’s chest and pin it to the wall.
Suddenly, a folding chair cut through the air in a diagonal arc, striking directly at the chest of the Black Charcoal Ghost.
Ding!
Almost instantly, the peach wood sword appeared in front of the folding stool, its tip touching the stool and suddenly snapping off, breaking into several segments that scattered and flew in different directions.
“Who is it!”
The exorcist was horrified, nearly choking on his own blood.
He couldn’t believe that his ultimate move had been interfered with.
All the exorcist’s powers lay in the peach wood sword, and while the sword was specifically crafted to combat specters and demons, it was utterly useless against other objects and living people, effectively being no more than an unsharpened wooden sword.
“A live person.”
A calm reply came from outside the door as a slender figure entered the room, approaching the Black Charcoal Ghost.
The figure appeared completely unafraid of the red threads swirling around the Black Charcoal Ghost, walking straight into them.
“It’s you…” The Black Charcoal Ghost still remembered Lu Li.
A few days had passed, its ability to speak having somewhat diminished.
The red gleam in the eyes of the Black Charcoal Ghost flickered, the swirling blood threads around it parting to create an opening, avoiding the approaching Lu Li.
“Who are you?”
The exorcist’s form was hunched, no longer as imposing as before, covering his chest warily.
Lu Li turned around, his calm black eyes staring at the exorcist across from him.
“Just a passerby who couldn’t stand by idly.”
