Chapter 801: 34.13-1
The sound of chaotic footsteps came from behind, as the actors and staff from the rehearsal rushed into the dressing room.
The first thing they saw was a companion dressed only in white underwear, collapsed unconscious on the ground, with Lu Li standing nearby.
"What the hell are you doing!?"
A few male students angrily rushed forward.
Lu Li’s hand, which was hanging by his trouser seam, quietly lifted his coat and rested on the gun holster.
The intimidation of a gun was greater than Lu Li unleashing a fireball.
"Don’t be impulsive, it wasn’t this... Officer who did it! There must be some misunderstanding!"
A graceful figure dashed out from the crowd, loudly stopping several male classmates who were about to hit Lu Li.
"Yan Zhi...!"
Floating in mid-air, invisible to others, Yang Chunxue softly exclaimed with a thrilled expression.
If it were just Sun Yan trying to stop them, it wouldn’t have halted the hot-blooded young men, but what made them pause was Lu Li’s motion of reaching toward his waist and the visible gun handle.
Whether this person was a cop or not... rushing in now seemed like a very reckless act.
Sun Yan turned around, clasping her hands in front of her, slightly bowing, and showing Lu Li a serene smile like a Yamato Nadeshiko: "Mr. Lu Li, long time no see."
She was dressed in a cherry blossom kimono, her toes wrapped in tabi socks stepping on wooden clogs, playing a Japanese woman in the stage play.
Sun Yan seemed to be using method acting; every frown, smile, word, and action carried the essence of her character.
Quickly, she reverted to her usual tomboyish demeanor, explaining for her companions: "This is Officer Lu Li, we met before during the investigation of Chunxue’s case."
"But what happened here...?" a girl hiding in the crowd at the door timidly asked.
"It was already like this when I arrived," Lu Li said timely. "You guys were just a few seconds late, surely you don’t think I’d be able to catch up to her, knock her out, and undress her in those few seconds."
The students fell silent, thinking it over... that was indeed the case.
"Hey, how long are you going to linger here watching, boys, get out quickly!" Sun Yan snapped out of her dream-like state, waving her wide sleeves indignantly to disperse the boys.
The boys scattered like startled birds and fish, and the girls watching didn’t dare to stay either, leaving only a man and a woman, two teachers, standing awkwardly at the door.
Sun Yan turned to look at Lu Li, her gaze questioning.
"Sun Yan stays, the two of you temporarily guard the door."
The male teacher came to his senses and said: "Ah, okay, but we need to contact the school authorities about this..."
"That’s fine."
With Officer Wen as his scapegoat, Lu Li wasn’t worried about the matter being exposed.
Sun Yan closed the dressing room door, leaning her back against the wooden door, her eyes lively and inquisitive, she whispered: "Chunxue, is she..."
Before she finished speaking, Yang Chunxue already materialized.
Sun Yan let out a joyful exclamation, then quickly covered her mouth, remembering there were people outside.
Yang Chunxue waved her hand foolishly, like a simpleton.
Sun Yan instinctively rushed to hug Yang Chunxue, but halfway there she suddenly remembered Yang Chunxue was already dead, no longer having a physical body. In the next moment, she embraced a cool, soft body.
"Eh!?" Sun Yan released her in surprise, exclaiming softly.
Yang Chunxue’s face was full of pride, hands on hips, she said: "Didn’t expect I could be touched, right~ by the way, why are you here?"
The sisters spoke softly with joy, and Lu Li didn’t interrupt. He crouched beside the unconscious female student, pressing her body’s skin gently.
"Hehe, I joined the drama club; I’ve been rehearsing recently. I wanted to keep it a secret until the play began to invite you and give you a surprise, but I didn’t expect you guys to show up... hey, what’s with your eyes..."
Sun Yan noticed Yang Chunxue’s eyes had turned a light ruby red.
"Because I’ve grown stronger." Yang Chunxue awkwardly flexed her arms, unfortunately, they were still slender. "I’m now a resentful spirit, um... you like reading xianxia novels, right? Things about Nascent Soul Stage ascension, I’m equivalent to the Foundation Establishment Stage now!"
"You’re so lazy, you actually got stronger? Or do ghost games also let you—why are you hitting me!"
"Who’s letting you underestimate me, I’ve done... I’ve worked really hard to get stronger..." Her eyes began to drift, turning evasive. Before Sun Yan became suspicious, Yang Chunxue quickly changed the subject: "Oh, I almost forgot about the main issue... How is Lu Lili?"
"Lu Lili..." Sun Yan seemed to want to laugh but couldn’t, looking over.
Then the two girls saw Lu Li touching someone.
Lu Li: "No signs of decay, and the yin energy inside her is dissipating, confirming my earlier suspicion. She’s not a ghost; the ghost was possessing her."
Yang Chunxue recalled what Lu Li had mentioned before: "Are you talking about that cheongsam?"
"Yes."
Lu Li scanned the cluttered racks around, locking onto a spot.
It seemed to think it was perfectly hidden.
Unfortunately, whether it’s the yin energy, or the blood-colored tentacles penetrating down from the ceiling, they made it stand out like a firefly in the dark night.
Feeling the atmosphere turn serious, Sun Yan asked: "Should I step aside?"
"No, knowing some things doesn’t hurt. Chunxue, do you sense it?" Lu Li spoke without turning his head.
Yang Chunxue nodded vigorously: "Yes! I love this kind of overwhelming victory!"
"Guard the formation for me, don’t let it touch you."
Lu Li gave a reminder, ghastly ghost claws appearing on his arms, approaching the clothes rack, suddenly thrusting his hand into the costumes, then withdrawing it, clutching a dark red cheongsam with a palm surging with ghostly energy.
Next to Yang Chunxue, Sun Yan whispered: "You seem to have a good relationship."
Yang Chunxue’s ears turned red, stammering, "What are you talking about! It’s... it’s too early for us to think about kids!"
"Eh?" Sun Yan was taken aback.
"Alright." Lu Li tossed aside the cheongsam, suddenly clenching his palm.
The twisted blood-colored tentacles vanished into his palm.
"Eh?" This time, it was Yang Chunxue who was stunned.
"Just finding it took some effort." Lu Li dispersed the Ghost Hand and explained.
Finding the ghost took an hour, eliminating it took a second.
"So are you leaving now..." Sun Yan showed reluctance.
Yang Chunxue also didn’t want to part so quickly: "Um, how about we watch your rehearsal?"
She looked appealingly at Lu Li.
With a half-smile, Lu Li nodded, not refusing.
...
"She’s truly beautiful, I thought she’d only be this gentle after getting married."
At the back of the theater, Yang Chunxue whispered.
With the interlude over, the drama club’s teachers and students began a new rehearsal, seemingly putting in a lot of effort because of Lu Li’s presence.
A few minutes later, the scene ended. Sun Yan approached the audience seats with small steps on her wooden clogs, bowing deeply: "Mr. Lu Li, please take care of Chunxue."
"What a foolish thing to say, acting like you won’t see us again." Yang Chunxue tapped Sun Yan’s forehead.
Sun Yan just smiled, saying nothing more.
After seeing Lu Li and Yang Chunxue off from the theater, Sun Yan passed through the backstage preparing for the next scene to quietly arrive at the dressing room.
She squatted down, picking up the crumpled, blood-red cheongsam.
The yin energy slowly seeped out from the cheongsam, enveloping Sun Yan.
