Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 591 - 591 One hundred ten

591: One hundred ten.

Rest 591: One hundred ten.

Rest Hades crawled out from under the table, trembling with fear.

He scanned the chaotic room and the shattered windows, and he gasped for air as he roared, “Damn you, Lu Li!

You must pay—”

A pair of chilly eyes fell on Hades, as if freezing his soul in place.

Hades held his breath and continued in an extremely gentle tone, “—this resentful spirit miss, she must be so eager to see you…”

The shouts on the street grew louder and more chaotic as the door of the Detective Agency was slammed open, and the sound of hurried footsteps came from the lobby downstairs.

“Who the hell is it at this time—” Hades walked angrily to the door, too afraid to scold Anna, so he could only vent his anger on others.

“It must be the Exorcists startled by Anna.” Lu Li released Anna.

Anna’s eyes, no longer indifferent, fell on Lu Li, unwilling to leave, “Are you going to negotiate with them?”

Lu Li shook his head gently.

“I am now a soul, and they might not listen to me.

Take me back to where my body is.”

“Okay.”

“In a different carrying position—”

Before he could finish, Anna had already wrapped her arms around Lu Li’s legs and lifted him in a princess carry.

Saying no more, Lu Li bid goodbye to Hades and was carried by Anna as they flew out of the Detective Agency.

Thud thud thud thud—

Bang!

The door was kicked open, and the officers rushed into the room, their Spirit-Calling Guns pointed at Hades, who had his back to them.

Hades looked towards the direction where Lu Li had disappeared outside the window, his heart bleeding.

Anna’s flying speed could almost compare with that of a Skeleton Horse, and because he was only a spirit, Lu Li couldn’t hear the sound of wind whistling past his ears.

This allowed him to hear clearly the various sounds echoing through this city of despair as they neared the top of Sugard Mountain.

The relentless ringing of church bells in the sky, the noise of flames clinging to buildings whipping up the wind, people’s cries for help, and that sound that seemed to rise from the deep sea, obscure and low, a slow breathing.

Perhaps worried about the strange creatures wandering the city, or not wanting Lu Li to see all this, Anna carried him through the few hundred meters of air.

Aside from the light red mist and the sounds of the city, Lu Li could see nothing.

It was only when the misty haze was left behind and Anna lowered their altitude that he saw the ground, and the negative emotions of Elm Forest wrapped around them, mingled with alertness, unfamiliarity, affection.

The closer they got to the cliff top, the more positive the emotions emanating from Elm Forest became, as if returning to a warm home.

Upon landing on the cliff top, a clear, faint consciousness lingered around Anna and then gently touched Lu Li.

Annie was awakening.

Lu Li thought to himself.

Outside the cave entrance, Jimmy leaned against the monster’s body and looked up as they approached.

Seeing Lu Li, both bodies smiled simultaneously.

Entering the cave and returning to the refuge, Anna put down Lu Li.

Under their gaze, Lu Li walked towards his body, which was eagerly calling out to him in the dark, and lay on the bed to become one with it again.

The heavy footsteps echoed outside the shelter, and Jimmy was helped by the monster’s body to come to the door.

Jimmy turned his head for a glance, then steadied his brother as they waited for Lu Li to wake up.

As time passed, after about a dozen seconds, a pair of bewildered black eyes slowly opened, gradually regaining focus.

The sensation of a beating heart, the flow of blood, the feeling of air filling his lungs, and the perception of the outside world all re-emerged, as if life had burst into a myriad of colors.

Lu Li sat up, but everything was suddenly snatched away.

With a “thud,” a dull thud came from behind, and his body fell away from his soul, back onto the cot.

Anna inadvertently released a hint of coldness.

Lu Li lay down thoughtfully once more, overlapping with his body again.

After a dozen seconds, those naturally closed eyes reopened.

This time, Lu Li didn’t get up quickly but instead slowly and carefully lifted his arm—

His arm rose bit by bit until it was fully raised, and nothing happened.

It was as if the previous scene had been an illusion for everyone.

Lu Li sat up once again, his movements still as slow as an old man’s.

Once seated, he tried to stand up.

However, his attempt to rise was too quick, and Lu Li’s body suddenly lost control, tilting forward and leaving behind a translucent soul.

Anna supported Lu Li’s body, asking in bewilderment, “Why is this happening?”

“Body and soul…

mismatch.”

The soul of Lu Li furrowed his brow as he spoke.

“Your soul is very pure, very strong, and possesses a vitality-like energy that I can’t comprehend.

The problem might lie there,” Raimy, who was supporting her brother, suddenly said.

“It could also be that your soul has been away from the body for too long.

It has grown accustomed to existing without a body, as a ghostly presence.”

Anna turned back to look at Raimy, “How do you know this?”

“I’m a ‘Scholar’.”

“What is a ‘Scholar’?” Lu Li asked, never letting go of his thirst for knowledge and curiosity.

While Anna moved Lu Li’s body back to the bed, Raimy answered, “In that book, the one occupying the ruins is an Evil God transformed into Followers, and my appointed role as a ‘Scholar’ is to master knowledge.”

“What else do you know?” Anna asked, standing beside Lu Li.

“For example, a way to restore everything.”

“The soul needs to stay inside the body.

You have to let it get used to having a body again.”

“How long will that take?”

“Perhaps a few hours, maybe several days.”

Although slow, it seemed they could perfectly resolve the matter without lingering issues.

“Belfast is destroyed, and now we have nowhere to go,” Anna said, watching Lu Li’s soul re-enter his body once again.

“But can we really avoid those strange entities here?” Raimy asked with some concern.

This place was too close to the coast.

As weird creatures themselves, they were less likely to be attacked by other oddities, but Lu Li, as a human, was easily vulnerable to assaults.

“I will protect him,” Anna simply stated calmly.

On the bed, Lu Li opened his eyes for the third time, this time he had no intention of getting up, just slowly raising his hand.

Anna patiently watched as Lu Li touched his chest, where there seemed to be something in his pocket.

“An odd item I acquired in hell, Evil Spirit Chess.”

Lu Li said, describing the effects of the Doomsday Apocalypse to Anna and the Jimmy siblings.

Anna noticed the details: “Including Sanity Value?”

“Mhm.”

Lu Li nodded.

As he hadn’t experienced any hallucinations or delusions due to a low Sanity Value, his current level of sanity should be very close to that of a regular person.

He looked up at Anna, who had a faint smile on her face, “It will be most effective in your hands, but I don’t recommend you carry it on a regular basis.”

While there’s no question that Anna, with the Doomsday Apocalypse, would become more powerful, whether she could retain her sanity and humanity was another matter…?

“It’s yours,” Anna said without any objections.

She preferred that Lu Li keep it with him.

Suddenly, Lu Li remembered something and asked, “What happened to those children in the warehouse on Elm Street?”

Anna fell into silence.

“I understand,” Lu Li murmured.

Her silence had already silently conveyed the answer.
