Chapter 583 - 583 One hundred and two
583: One hundred and two.
Iceheart Demon 583: One hundred and two.
Iceheart Demon Ding Ling——Ding Ling——
Lu Lili left the tavern.
There was also the Hungry Demon who was being ignored by all the demons as it followed closely by his side.
“Within 3 hours, please don’t leave the tavern,” the Humanoid Demon spoke, suppressing the covetous emotions some harbored towards Lu Li.
“Except for our Blind Hunting Demon.”
It looked at Ruth by the door with interest, “If you don’t leave now, he will be gone.”
“I’ve said that I have nothing to do with him,” Ruth’s face was cold.
With a smile, the Humanoid Demon said, “The tavern does not welcome you today, can you leave?”
“You bastard…”
Ruth muttered under her breath in displeasure and left her seat with a cold snort.
Her steps were light as she pushed the door open and left the tavern.
Ding Ling——Ding Ling——
The crisp sound of the wind chimes swayed.
“You are actually protecting a human,” an Advanced Demon growled.
It was one of the demons that had coveted Lu Li after he had revealed his identity.
“It is all just a transaction, and that is fair,” the Humanoid Demon said nonchalantly.
It took out a peculiar bottle of wine from beneath the bar, poured it into a goblet, and stared blankly at the swaying liquid, as if reminiscing about something.
…
The red flames atop the Skeleton Horse’s back subdued as Lu Li approached, retreating into the bones and forming a solid, fiery glow deep within its eye sockets.
The unique aura of the Hell Creatures made Whitely shiver at the very bottom of hell.
If not for the innate brand urging it to follow Lu Li inside, it would have fled the town long ago.
Lu Li didn’t plan to take Whitely with him on the next part of the journey, but he couldn’t communicate this to Whitely and tell it they were parting ways.
Just then, the faint sound of wind chimes reached from behind, and Ruth stepped out of the tavern.
“What use is a mount to you?” Ruth, with her shapely figure, approached Lu Li, maintaining a cautious distance, and eyed the Skeleton Horse curiously, “It can’t take you out of hell.”
“It can,” he said.
Ruth instinctively wanted to scoff, but Lu Li’s composure told her this guy might really have a way back.
“How?” she asked.
Lu Li didn’t hide anything, saying directly, “When I was in the living world, I heard that Watch Town has an entrance to hell.”
“What if it’s false information?”
“Then I will just have to make a forced return once more.”
Lu Li calmly looked at Ruth and Whitely, “Thank you for your help.
You don’t need to follow me anymore.
Ruth, I’m entrusting Whitely to you for now, don’t let it follow.”
“What do you mean?” The cloth covering Ruth’s eyes furrowed along with her eyebrows.
“You have already died once.
If you die again, you might really be dead.”
“Why would someone who has already died once fear death?” Ruth’s signature mocking smile appeared, “Compared to the insignificant death, I’m more interested in seeing the despair on your face when you wind up with nothing.”
“You can stay here,” Lu Li said.
“If it’s false information, I’ll come back.”
“If despair is not fresh, it cannot please me.”
Unexpectedly, Ruth, who had been resistant to Lu Li all along, was stubbornly intent on following him now, even as they faced death.
“Without me as your guide, you will quickly die in the dangerous hell.”
“The Skeleton Horse can handle most dangers for me.”
“It can’t tell you anything.”
“Just the two of you won’t be able to make it back.”
“We can come back with the Skeleton Horse.
Also…
are you feeling guilty?” Ruth sized up Lu Li, “In my opinion, there’s no need.
You could’ve killed us just before leaving, you’ve done it once before, haven’t you?”
Realizing Ruth wouldn’t stay behind, Lu Li stopped trying to persuade her.
He approached the Skeleton Horse, which lay down to allow Lu Li to mount.
Whitely and Ruth were also assumed to be part of the group.
The towering Skeleton Horse could easily support their combined weight.
However, the accruement of Lu Li and Ruth on the Skeleton Horse had nothing to do with romance—they were separated by Whitely.
Lu Li grasped the top row of ribs on the Skeleton Horse and whispered, “We can leave now.”
The Skeleton Horse stood up.
Its hooves lifted, swirling black flames twisting around them as they moved swiftly towards the Black Calamity Volcano.
Wherever the hooves touched, hoof-shaped black flames rose, extending into the distance the Skeleton Horse had left behind.
“It seems your other old acquaintances won’t make it in time,” Ruth’s faint voice sounded amidst the howling wind.
Those connected with Lu Li were either too distant to arrive in time or had long since perished in hell.
Perhaps Ruth and Whitely were the only familiar faces left…
…
The tavern became lively once more.
Advanced Demons and Demons conversed in low tones.
Though no deals were made, they relished the leisurely peace that didn’t require fighting.
As time slowly passed, the whispers inside the tavern gradually grew softer.
Their gaze collectively shifted towards the main door as if they were waiting.
Creak, creak—
Soft, feeble, strange sounds came from outside, becoming more distinct.
Pristine frost appeared on the door, spreading and climbing, diffusing across the entire wall.
Every Hell Creature in the tavern felt a chill.
As creatures of hell, they were accustomed to hell’s searing heat.
The cold discomforted and repelled them.
Crack—
The frost between the doorframe and the door shattered.
The door was pushed open from the outside, striking the already frozen, silent wind chimes.
With a noble attire, emaciated figure, and pale, bluish skin, it was akin to a Vampire.
They watched this figure, who made no attempt to conceal its aura.
Such arrogance and provocation indicated it was an unwelcome guest.
“This is not a place you should step foot in, Devil’s Son,” the Humanoid Demon behind the counter said calmly, murmuring its identity.
“Iceheart Demon.”
“You’ve gotten old, devil.”
The Iceheart Demon walked towards the counter, and frost spread wherever it passed.
“To think you’d strike a deal with a human.”
The Humanoid Demon chuckled carelessly, “That suit better fits your father.”
“We are all the same.
But I am different from you.”
The Devil’s Son spoke without a hint of respect for its father, “Tell me, where did he go?”
The Skeleton Horse’s hoofprints would burn for hours, and the Iceheart Demon arrived at the tavern only minutes after Lu Li.
There was also Lu Li’s body, marked by the Devil.
Of course, it knew where Lu Li had gone.
As a young male lion in the pride grows, it begins to challenge the alpha male, seeking to establish its own status.
“Too bad you’re a step too late.
I’ve already struck a deal with him.
You’ll have to stay here for a while.”
The Iceheart Demon looked around at the Demons eyeing it with malevolence, offering a faint smile, “With a bunch of toothless failures like you…
Freeze along with this place.”
A bone-chilling coldness suddenly spread, enveloping the entire tavern.
In an instant, the Demons with varying expressions were frozen into lifelike ice sculptures, glimmering with beautiful blue sheen.
A minute later, the slender figure in noble attire followed the black smoky hoofprints out of the deserted town.
Behind it stood a completely frozen tavern.
