Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 478 - 478 Three hundred thirty-five

478: Three hundred thirty-five.

Their strength 478: Three hundred thirty-five.

Their strength Lu Li was trying to help them;

they did not receive any help.

Lu Li prevented death from claiming their bodies;

they were already dead.

Lu Li saved them;

they were redeemed.

The Human-faced Worms surrounded Lu Li, seemingly aware of what was happening.

The once hatred-filled resentment towards the living faded, and, inexplicably, they stared at Lu Li, who lay unconscious at the center.

They swarmed around Lu Li like a school of fish, eagerly rushing into the tightly-held sequence 1.

Even though he knew it was futile, Lu Li continued to do these things.

The little boy was trying his best to save every fish stranded on the beach.

He did not seek any reward, but the fish thanked him: they gathered together, and when the boy fell into the ocean, they spat out bubbles to keep him from drowning, and then lifted him above the water.

About a dozen arms supported Lu Li’s back, and when there was no space left, new arms reached out to his arms, his legs, and the back of his head.

They bore Lu Li’s weight, just as Lu Li had reached out to help before.

At the edge of the abyss, darker than darkness itself, an insignificant black dot slowly ascended.

Every minute, a few ephemeral arms emerged behind Lu Li; when there was no more room behind him, the arms either overlapped with others or transformed into power that merged into Lu Li’s body.

The second rose of sequence 1 was quietly blossoming.

As power assimilated into him, the fading vitality of Lu Li stabilized once again.

Yet he could not awake, surrounded by too many Human-faced Worms.

Each breath represented a life once lived, teeming and waiting for redemption and release.

As Lu Li’s body drifted away from the abyss, changes began to occur around him.

Two Human-faced Worms, appearing much like a couple, looked at the slender arms behind Lu Li’s back, showing an almost human-like expression.

They touched each other gently face to face, then floated towards the Spirit-Calling Gun.

Unlike the other Human-faced Worms, which rushed impatiently towards the Spirit-Calling Gun seeking salvation and liberation, the two fish-like Human-faced Worms approached the hand, swirling around a few times before suddenly crashing into Lu Li’s fingertips.

The impact caused Lu Li’s fingers to loosen almost imperceptibly in the last moments before dissipating.

At the same time, they looked back at the slender arms behind Lu Li, their appearance filled with a human-like reluctance, and then vanished into nothingness.

Their actions were noticed by the swarm of Human-faced Worms.

Some continued to rush towards the Spirit-Calling Gun, seeking only salvation, but many more collided with Lu Li’s fingers.

Lu Li’s grip gradually loosened, and at some point, the Spirit-Calling Gun slipped from his hand, floating beside him as they rose together.

At the same time, Lu Li opened his eyes.

Lu Li felt a strange power inside him.

He felt the arms behind him lifting him up; he felt the swarm of Human-faced Worms billowing around him.

As the Spirit-Calling Gun slipped from Lu Li’s grasp, the Human-faced Bug Swarm no longer suppressed their urgency and surged into the Spirit-Calling Gun, seeking deliverance.

Their power turned into nourishment, helping the roses on the Spirit-Calling Gun bloom.

The art-like silver-plated barrel of the gun—now the second rose was fully open, the power transferring to the final rose.

All of a sudden, Lu Li shifted his gaze towards the hazy light above his head.

In the depths of the unknown, an indescribable and obscure sensation was brewing into existence.

As the source of the power, the Human-faced Worms were disappearing rapidly.

The Old Mother should have noticed this.

A dark red mist seeped towards the abyss, enveloping the “surface of the ocean,” writhing to form a colossal, uncanny…

human female face.

Has the New Swamp Mother already been devoured…

Lu Li calmly gazed at the face that was identical to the human body of the Mother of the Marsh.

“Despicable thief, stop your vile actions…” The beautiful face roared fiercely, causing the viscous deep sea to tremble alongside it.

It was afraid, it was uneasy.

The Old Mother couldn’t understand why Lu Li, who had merged with the flesh and blood of the shell, could steal her origin power.

The Old Mother couldn’t understand why Lu Li, who was supposed to be sealed by the Betrayer, could still resist.

It clearly sensed that the power deep within the shell was making it anxiously slip away fast.

Lu Li slightly tilted his head, the Human-faced Bugs that symbolized the Mother of the Marsh’s power were indifferent to the appearance of their master.

Raising an undercurrent, they surged toward the Spirit-Calling Gun that could release them.

They had been waiting for a long time.

“Stop it…!

Do you know what you’re doing!”

The Old Mother’s face, while venting emotions, couldn’t do anything but hatefully watch the thief floating upwards, stealing its power.

Suddenly, the Old Mother’s face became calm, and a low, hoarse voice echoed from the viscous deep sea.

“You are stealing Mother’s power.”

“Who are you.” Lu Li looked at the giant face that was no longer emotional.

“We are Mother’s children…

We are…

saving people.” The Followers who spoke on behalf of the Old Mother whispered.

“Saving people?”

Lu Li’s calm words contained no sarcasm, but the Followers understood what he meant.

“The apocalypse is imminent, and humans, as weak as ants, are merely their food.

We need to have our own strength to struggle to survive; sacrifice is inevitable…”

“A new darkness is descending.

They aren’t invulnerable, even those greater than Mother, nameless existence, also have countless enemies of a magnitude like the stars.

Merely hearing their names can drive one to madness and death.

And this is just one of the enemies we will soon face.”

“The dreadful entity that descended upon Zainster Port is merely a projection from the Inner World, lured by an irresistible urge to feast, where it is as insignificant and trivial as humans are to us.”

The Followers revealed the terrifying information that could shatter one’s sanity.

“Our world is but a small wooden boat, while they are the endless deep sea.

We only survive by adapting to life at sea, to keep living, to protect more people.”

Lu Li’s noncommittal posture made the Followers want to win him over, or perhaps that had been their intention from the start.

“You are different.

We can’t see your past, nor your future…

as a human, you carry the will of the stars, you don’t know how strong you are.

Come…

join us, protect more people, isn’t that what you want to do…”

The seductive voice gradually faded away, as the Old Mother and the Followers awaited Lu Li’s response.

“Your choices may be right.” Lu Li stared at the giant face and slowly spoke.

“But only for yourselves.”

“I have a pretty good idea for a solution.”

The Old Mother’s face took on a listening expression.

Lu Li reached out and grabbed the Sequence 1 floating near him, pointing it at the giant face.

Sensing what was about to happen, the Human-faced Bug Swarm’s faces showed fervor, swirling around Lu Li’s body like a vortex, protecting him from harm.

They merged into Lu Li’s body, the arcane power they brought filling him.

At the heart of the vortex, the abyss-like dark pupils gazed up at the Old Mother overhead, as Lu Li pulled the trigger.

A cold murmur accompanied by a dragon’s roar like a furious bellow rose.

“Just die quietly.”
