Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 445 - 445 Three hundred and two

445: Three hundred and two.

The real police officer 445: Three hundred and two.

The real police officer The shelf only displayed a limited variety of spices, and in the corner, a few bulging sacks were piled together, two of which were open: one filled with flour and the other with potatoes.

These potatoes and wheat had been stored since last autumn’s harvest.

The remaining vegetables such as carrots, onions, and eggs were piled in the corner near the entrance to the cellar, their meager quantities together not even enough to fill a single sack.

Although greenhouse cultivation had started to bear fruit, the limited yield still made vegetables a scarce resource, or rather, a luxury food that only the upper class could afford.

On the other side of the cellar, meat from cattle, sheep, and pigs hung in rows; the sight of these meats hanging on hooks had startled Jojo during her previous exploration of the cellar.

Lu Li walked over to the sacks, lifted the oil lamp to dispel the shadows inside, and reached out to pick up a potato.

The brown potato’s skin was covered with dried clumps of soil.

Lu Li scraped off the dirt near his fingers, also peeling away a small piece of the potato’s skin.

Beneath the slightly greenish surface of the potato, crimson threads connected, forming blood-like, unsettling red veins on the surface of the potato.

Combined with the shape of the potato, it looked eerily like a human embryo.

This scene did not align with Lu Li’s understanding of potatoes.

He showed it to Jojo, who had come up beside him; she responded, “It looks disgusting.”

Lu Li put the potato back and picked up another one, scraping off its skin against the wall.

The same red veins appeared, and because of the scraping, the “blood vessels” on the surface were crushed, spreading out a blood-like red liquid.

“The food has been contaminated,” Lu Li conjectured that the change in these foods might be related to the blood rain, and put the potato back in the sack.

“Are you hungry?”

Jojo was more or less accustomed to Lu Li’s abrupt manner of speaking; it felt like when her teacher was explaining something and if you zoned out even for a moment, you would find you had completely lost track.

Usually, at this point, Jojo would just pretend to understand—she pulled out a wrapped piece of jerky, shook it, and replied, “Just asking.

By the way, what’s in those boxes?”

At the very back of the cellar, several wooden crates were leaned against the wall, covered with hay to protect against moisture.

Rustle—

The sack containing the potatoes suddenly tipped over, and the round potatoes rolled past them, crashing into the shelf.

Clang—

The crisp sound of the impact echoed through the cellar.

The atmosphere in the cellar suddenly became deathly still; the two didn’t move, Jojo held her breath and looked towards the dimly lit cellar door, while Lu Li stared at the scattered potatoes.

The cellar door didn’t open, and the fallen potatoes didn’t suddenly start moving.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence.

“Maybe you didn’t put them back properly,” Jojo said with a sigh of relief after waiting for several seconds.

But in the next second, her pupils suddenly shrank.

The Faceless Figures appeared silently within the cellar.

But not by Lu Li and Jojo’s side, rather, in front of those wooden boxes.

While Jojo was stunned, a shadow suddenly darted from beside her, striking the quietly appeared Faceless Figure.

Smack—

The shadow paused, revealing the outline of the Spirit-Calling Gun, and the Faceless Figure’s chest began to emit wisps of bluish smoke where the Spirit-Calling Gun had hit.

“Anna,” Lu Li whispered.

A cold, eerie presence surged out, drawing near, enveloping the Faceless Figure.

An invisible force wrapped around the Faceless Figure, preventing it from escaping or moving, leaving only the Spirit-Calling Gun to fall to the ground.

At that moment, Anna clenched her hands as her form became visible.

The cold power suddenly turned violent, agitatedly forming countless transparent spikes that pierced into the bodies of the Faceless Figures.

The next second, the bound Faceless Figures vanished.

This silent battle quickly came to an end, with the Faceless Figures not making a sound from start to finish.

Anna’s figure faded again, and the cold air in the cellar gradually dissipated.

“How strong are they,” Lu Li asked.

From the void, Anna’s voice came, “Very weak…

almost like ordinary ghosts, the Spirit-Calling Gun you threw almost killed it.”

Yet, these not-so-strong Followers could rampage through the town, instilling fear in everyone.

At this moment, Jojo cried out in alarm, “Why would it appear?

Could it be…

there’s a third person!”

“Exactly,” Lu Li said as he walked to where the Faceless Figure had been, looking down at the wooden box in front of him.

The slats of the wooden crate had tiny gaps between them, making it hard to peek inside from the outside, but if there was something inside wanting to peek out…

Lu Li lifted the lid of the crate.

A face mixed with fear and relief appeared.

The figure inside the crate widened his eyes at Lu Li for several seconds, then struggled to turn around in the crate, facing Lu Li with his back, showing his hands that were tied behind him.

Lu Li pulled out a dagger and cut the hemp rope, the figure hastily pulled out the wet cloth stuffed in his mouth, retched a few times attempting to speak, then quickly covered his mouth.

“The strange creature has been eliminated,” Lu Li told the young man in the crate.

“You must have noticed just now.”

The young man hesitated before speaking, “…you guys actually killed that monster…

Are you an Exorcist?”

Lu Li nodded in affirmation, “Who are you.”

“I am Fran, a police officer from Shadow Town.

I haven’t seen you before…

Are you from outside?!” Fulando took a deep breath, then said excitedly, “Are those monsters gone?”

Lu Li’s gaze swept over Fulando’s dirty police uniform and said, “Not yet, we came here looking for someone.”

Lu Li’s words extinguished the hope that had just risen in Fulando.

He stood up from the crate, the long duration of curling up causing severe discomfort in his blood flow and joints.

He struggled out of the crate and sat down on it, taking a deep breath and asking, “Who are you looking for?”

“Oliver, he isn’t a resident here.”

“Oliver…

I remember that name,” Fulando furrowed his brows in thought, then asked doubtfully, “Were you commissioned by the Ib Trade Caravan to come here?”

Jojo, who had been observing, suddenly became excited.

Lu Li introduced Fran, “She is Oliver’s sister, I accompanied her to look for Oliver.”

Unable to restrain herself, Jojo moved forward, “If you have any information about Oliver, please tell us!”

“You guys are really brave…

Alright, you saved me, I’ll tell you what I know, let me think,” Fran sighed, recalling the previous events and spoke slowly.

“Before all this happened, we were also looking for him, but before we could find him, terrifying monsters suddenly filled the town.

I lost contact with my teammates and the captain, then the creature you killed appeared, she killed several of my teammates, and our weapons and guns were useless against her, so we ran off in all directions…”

“I got separated, hid in Old Mack’s house, and when I saw him, this poor old man was already headless…

I hid there until nightfall, noticing more and more creatures outside, and a few times they almost fought their way into the house, so I boldly ran back to the Police Station, and then…”

Fran lowered his head, saying somewhat shamefacedly.

“I was knocked out…”
