Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 433 - 433 Two hundred ninety

433: Two hundred ninety.

Departure.

433: Two hundred ninety.

Departure.

The kitchen emitted the burbling sound of boiling water.

“You stay here.” Lu Lili left her seat and spoke to Anna, who had been watching this way.

A smile disappeared from Anna’s delicate features: “I want to follow you.

Don’t think about going alone.”

“I will take you with me, but I need to go to the base now.”

He had to figure out what exactly had happened in Shadow Town and Elm Forest.

“Oh.”

Realising she had misunderstood, Anna honestly replied, “When will you be back?”

“Very soon.”

Putting on the wool coat from the coat rack, Lu Lili remembered something and said to Anna, “You haven’t contacted Daisy for a long time.”

“Daisy?”

The last contact with Daisy seemed like a very long time ago, and Anna realized she didn’t miss her former friend much, but she still responded, “I’ll contact her after I come back.”

After all, it was rare for Lu Lili to show concern.

Lu Lili nodded, the last time Daisy had contacted was before The Shadow of Puppetry event.

She mentioned that her professor had acquired a bard’s diary and afterwards, she became somewhat strange.

Afterward, Daisy never called again; whether the incident with the professor ended or something bad happened that prevented her from calling, like… death.

The departing Lu Lili closed the door.

Anna walked into the kitchen and poured half of the boiling water out of the pot.

Since she was leaving Belfast in two hours, there was no need to prepare dinner.

Leaving the remaining half-pot of water on the stove, Anna tied on an apron and hummed softly as she dealt with the ingredients.

The rain was shut out from the Anres brothers’ repair shop.

The street had turned into a river, with the collected water from the upper streets flowing through the coastal streets toward the beach.

A figure clad in a raincoat walked into the repair shop amidst the terrible weather.

“Welcome.”

Upon seeing the figure remove the hood of the raincoat, revealing the distinctive black hair, the personnel recognized Lu Li and greeted him with a smile.

“Is Tesla here?” Lu Li took off his raincoat and hung it on the coat rack by the door.

“Of course.”

“Thank you.”

Walking deeper into the shop, and pulling out his investigator’s badge to pass through the mural, Lu Li entered the underground facility.

When Lu Li saw Tesla, this man who was always impeccably elegant looked completely out of character, sitting in the seat closest to the fireplace in the rest area, his body covered with a thick animal fur blanket, making him look like a barbarian.

“Morning, Lu Li, it’s really cold today, isn’t it?” Tesla’s deep, nasal voice spoke, his hawk-nose turning red.

“Not really cold.” Lu Li sat opposite Tesla.

Tesla wrapped the blanket tighter around himself and took a deep breath before exclaiming, “I used to live inland where the cold was just plain cold, unlike here.

The moisture creeps into the fabric, blankets, and skin all the way to the flesh, it’s terribly uncomfortable.”

He rambled like an old man for a while before getting down to business, “Let me guess the purpose of your visit; what’s the problem this time?”

It seemed that Lu Li’s endless problems did not annoy Tesla; on the contrary, he liked people who remained curious at times like this.

“Do you know about the incident in Shadow Town?” Lu Li asked.

Tesla nodded, somewhat puzzled, “I know a bit, why do you want to know about that?”

“A friend of mine has disappeared there.

I need to find him.”

“Now?” Tesla furrowed his brow, his gaze suddenly shifting to the side.

An Alliance Personnel approached and placed a cup of milk in front of Lu Li—although Lu Li had not yet asked for it.

“Everyone knows your preferences,” Tesla teased.

“Was it made by the Mother of the Marsh?” Lu Li asked, having no time for idle chatter.

Tesla soberly said, “That’s exactly the problem.

It seems another Evil God is behind Shadow Town’s loss of contact.”

Zenster City is not too far from Shadow Town, a distance of over eighty miles, allowing people to travel back and forth within a day.

Therefore, when the news of Shadow Town’s loss of contact spread, the exorcists thought the Terrifying Faceless Giant had appeared in Shadow Town.

However, exorcists who later went to investigate found no sign of the Terrifying Faceless Giant; instead, they encountered a different, foreign evil aura—not like that of the Mother of the Marsh.

According to the information returned so far, it seems a new Evil God has appeared in Shadow Town, and the Evil God “Mother of the Marsh” resides in the adjacent Shadow Swamp.

“That’s why there was trouble there,” Tesla said.

“They are hostile toward each other,” Lu Li continued, following Tesla’s line of thought.

After receiving Tesla’s affirmation, Lu Li asked, “Is the newly appeared Evil God related to the residents of Shadow Town?”

The letter from the figure in the Bird Beak Mask had once subtly mentioned that there was a problem with Shadow Town.

Meanwhile, another version of the letter about the “Door” openly stated that the residents of Shadow Town were followers of the Mother of the Marsh.

Regardless, Shadow Town is now a battleground for the two clashing Evil Gods.

“Until their conflict is resolved, that place is forbidden, and approaching it is extremely dangerous.

Do you really want to go?”

“Has the headquarters issued a report on the Shadow Town incident?” Lu Li’s question answered Tesla’s.

With a sigh, Tesla said, “Here,” and handed Lu Li a piece of parchment.

Lu Li took the still warm parchment and unfolded it before his eyes.

[New Event in Shadow Town Region: Confrontation of Evil Gods]

[Difficulty: Hard]

[Information Level: 38%]

[Known Information]

[15%: The Evil God Mother of the Marsh from Shadow Swamp is clashing with another unknown Evil God in Shadow Town]

[10%: Residents of Shadow Town had previously worshipped the unknown Evil God and the Mother of the Marsh]

[8%: Followers of the Mother of the Marsh from Shadow Swamp have entered Shadow Town]

[5%: No survivors found on the streets]

Hard difficulty implies the event corresponds to a level for detective-level investigators, typically those who have successfully completed nine varying difficulty events.

And Lu Li needed one more event to be promoted to Senior Investigator.

“Do you still want to go?” Tesla asked, looking at Lu Li.

Lu Li quietly read the content of the parchment, then pushed it back toward Tesla.

“Hmm, I promised her I would,” he said.

In Tesla’s eyes, there was a mixture of regret and admiration; he lamented Lu Li’s risky choice, yet admired his unwavering resolve in the face of difficulty.

“Good luck,” Tesla said.

After finishing his meat soup, Lu Li set down the wooden bowl.

Anna expertly cleared the table while Lu Li returned to the bedroom to take off his shirt and change the gauze on his abdomen.

Anna, who was cleaning pots and pans, peeked through the windows separating the bedroom and kitchen, secretly watching the scene.

Occasionally, Lu Li would look up as if he sensed someone watching, but only saw Anna earnestly busy at work.

The wound had stopped bleeding, and the two-centimeter long, slender cut had already scabbed over; he wrapped it with gauze and put his shirt back on.

At one in the afternoon, a carriage stopped outside the Long House, and Jojo arrived.

“Are you ready?

When do we leave?” Jojo asked, looking at Lu Li expectantly.

“Now.”
