Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 407 - 407 264

407: 264.

Sara’s Two Moves 407: 264.

Sara’s Two Moves Feeling Anna’s presence gradually withdrawing, Lu Li recited his own lines.

Petra walked up beside Lu Li, a certain depth in her gaze as she looked towards the wooden door that led to the basement in the corner.

“Doing it yourself is what makes it meaningful,” Sara said with a smile.

Just then, she saw Petra looking at the basement door with confusion.

“Petra!” Sara called out in a moment of panic.

“What?” The servant Petra diverted her gaze.

“What?” Petra looked toward “Sara.”

“Please help me get some fertilizer from the gardener,” Sara requested casually, “and just bring it to the garden.

“I’ll take care of it right away,” the servant Petra said, patting her chest, before jogging out of the shed.

“I’ll take care of it right away.”

With a look that signaled Lu Li to be careful, Petra vanished into the curtain of rain.

“I’ve got the shovel, let’s head back,” said Sara lightly, and since Lu Li, the servant, naturally wouldn’t suspect anything, he left the shed with Sara, carrying the shovel.

Perhaps because there were no further plans, or perhaps because Lu Li held the shovel, “Sara” did not attempt to attack him on the way back.

“The flower beds are blooming brightly, with butterflies fluttering through and a warm breeze filled with the faint scent of flowers.

‘It’s beautiful, isn’t it,’ Sara said, transfixed by the flower beds.”

Lu Li looked at the muddy courtyard, where no grass could grow and the heavy rain poured, and replied, “Yes.”

The plot continued.

Soon, the servant Petra returned with the fertilizer, persuading Sara, who wanted to help, and together with the servant Lu Li, they started to fertilize and loosen the soil in the flower beds.

The very spade that nearly ended Lu Li’s life turned out to be useful after all.

In the torrential downpour, Lu Li and Petra busied themselves for over a dozen minutes with non-existent tasks, as if playing house.

“You’ve worked hard, I’d like some peace, may I?” said Sara to the sweaty servants, Lu Li and Petra.

“Of course,” Petra replied with her chest puffed out, wiping away sweat.

“Of course,” Petra replied, trying to wipe the rain off her face, but it was no use; the rain was as heavy as if the sea had been poured upon them.

“Wait a second,” Sara suddenly spoke, stopping Petra, who was about to leave with Lu Li.

“Are you and Lola close?

I want to ask you some things.”

“Of course, we’re good friends,” Petra replied loudly.

“What does the mistress want to know?”

Sara didn’t answer but instead turned her gaze to the servant Lu Li.

Realizing, Lu Li left the flower beds.

Lu Li gave Petra a calm look; he seemed very composed, so he turned and walked away.

In front of the balcony of the second-floor bedroom, the Baron watched as “Sara” and Petra spent a short while in the “flower beds,” then crossed the garden and disappeared around the corner that led to the back garden.

The Baron redirected his attention to Lu Li, who entered the bedroom, drenched and dripping water all over.

“Lulu,” the Baron said, tilting his head.

The butler Lulu nodded, signaling the Head Maid to prepare clothes.

After a brief absence, the Head Maid returned, carrying a set of brand-new servant’s clothes.

“Please follow me,” the Head Maid said, leading Lu Li to the next room to change clothes.

A short while later, having changed into dry clothes, Lu Li returned to the bedroom.

He walked to the window; the blurred view outside no longer showed “Sara” and Petra.

“What happened after I left?” Lu Li asked the Baron, his voice carrying a nasal tone.

“She asked Petra to help move things; they went to the treehouse together.

In the story, Petra seems to like—” The Baron’s voice suddenly halted, and he furrowed his brow at Lu Li: “Are you sick?”

“Probably.”

After getting caught in the rain at the “dinner” the day before yesterday, Lu Li had felt unwell and had started coughing.

Today’s half-hour soaking in the storm had exacerbated his condition.

The Baron turned to the Head Maid and said, “Bring the best medicine and prepare a serving of hot soup.”

The Head Maid left the bedroom.

“Thank you,” Lu Li nodded in thanks.

He did not trust the medical standards of this world.

For Lu Li, who came from Earth, his body had a higher drug resistance, and roughly processed herbs had a hard time taking effect.

Perhaps a large dosage would be somewhat useful, but medicine was very expensive.

Before solving the issues of food, water, and shelter, Lu Li did not consider the medicine.

Soon, the maid returned, making Lu Li take a grey-brown powder that was the dried and crushed herbs.

Bitterness is the universal language of medicine.

Bang!

As Lu Li picked up the cup to rinse his mouth and wash away the bitter taste, the bedroom door was suddenly burst open, and a disheveled figure stumbled into the room.

It was Petra.

His face bore several bloodstains, and one arm was twisted unnaturally backward.

Pupils shrinking, the housekeeper Lulu shouted to the Head Maid, “Call Ms.

Mist here, we have a fracture patient to attend to!”

The doctor was quickly summoned, and after examining Petra’s injuries, she treated them and consoled, “It’s just a sprain and dislocation, but it’s quite severe.

Don’t use your right hand for the next few months.”

As the words fell, she looked at Lu Li and the others oddly, asking the Baron and the housekeeper, “Things have been strange around the mansion these past days, what happened, and who are these people?”

“Just some guests, thank you for your trouble, Ms.

Mist,” said the housekeeper, requesting the Head Maid to escort the doctor back.

After they left, the housekeeper spoke to Lu Li and the others, “Only a very small number of people in the Baron’s Mansion know the truth.”

All eyes fell on the disheveled Petra, but before they could ask, Petra volunteered, “It was Sa…

her doing.”

“She took me to the lakeside and pushed me in.

I was somewhat prepared, but still got hurt,” Petra said with a bitter smile, lifting his bandaged arm to show everyone.

“There’s a lake there too?” the Baron asked in confusion.

“It’s a treehouse.

In the story, she pushed me down from the treehouse.”

“Where did she go?”

“Probably to the basement,” Petra replied.

The long wait, nearing evening, “Sara” finally returned to the bedroom.

She had the Baron retrieve dinner, and after eating, she lay down on the bed to sleep, as if what happened today had nothing to do with her.

The group lingered for a while, confirming that the obscure ancient sound would not arise again, then left the bedroom, ending the day’s pretense.

[Restless, Sara sat up from the bed.]

Long after they had left.

In the pitch-black bedroom filled only with the sounds of rain and wind, an obscure ancient voice began to echo once again.

[She recalled the two failed attempts during the day, but fortunately, the servants hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary.]

[But if she continued to fail, they would eventually become aware.]

[With the fiery red sunset about to disappear, Sara put on a garment over her nightgown and stepped out of the mansion to the flowerbed below the balcony.]

[The brightly-colored flowers irresistibly reminded her of that painful night, filling her with agony—at that moment, she suddenly noticed the servant Lu Li walking past the path outside the flowerbed.

He wasn’t dressed in a servant’s uniform and seemed to be going out.]

[“Lu Li,” Sara called out to the servant Lu Li.]
