Detective Agency of the Bizarre
Chapter 196 - 196 Fifty-three

196: Fifty-three.

‘Uncle 196: Fifty-three.

‘Uncle “Lu Li!

There’s a fourth member in this family!”

Anna, having discovered important information, turned her head and shouted loudly.

“I see it.”

His gaze fell on the window outside, the lightning gradually dimming, the jungle and the figure on the edge once again lurking in the darkness.

Lu Li’s usual calmness infected Anna, and she let go of the worries that had surfaced in her heart… Wait, what did he mean by ‘I see it’…?

Disbelief in her eyes, she looked towards Lu Li’s back.

In the re-emerging pallid lightning, the huge shadow still stood there, its hands carrying nothing.

Outside, separated by the wall, the pouring rain was occasionally pierced by a sharp and discordant sound.

Lu Li’s dark pupils suddenly contracted to pinpoints, he ducked down to avoid the window!

Crash—

The window suddenly burst open, countless glass shards were forced into the wooden cabin by the wind and rain, and the afterimage of the lightning, glowing with silvery brilliance, made a whooshing sound as it smashed into the wooden wall right across the window, half of an axe blade deeply embedded in the wall.

The edge of the curtain was whipped about by the rainwater gushing in, making a flapping noise.

Lu Li stood up, squinted his dark eyes at the edge of the jungle, and then took steps towards the shadow inside the cabin.

Thud thud thud thud—

Heavy footsteps, like the rumble of thunder, were carried into the cabin by the wind.

Footsteps splashed into the puddles, picking up large clumps of mud.

The silhouette at the door was like a beast, exuding an oppressive aura, standing behind the door.

The wooden door cried out sadly, and the entire door panel, mixed with sawdust, flew backwards and crashed into the wall, causing the cabin to tremble.

A figure appeared at the door, clad in dirty, deep blue overalls, taller than the doorway itself, with a stubbled chin revealed beneath the doorframe.

Rainwater dripped down from its rain boots below.

In the dim and flickering campfire light, Lu Li raised his arm and pulled the trigger.

Bang!!!

A large chunk of debris exploded from the chest of the hulking figure at the door, revealing a hole the size of a bowl amidst the strange, splintery wound.

The shadow still stood at the doorway.

The Spirit-Calling Gun had lost its effect for the second time, it could only cause limited physical damage to this family.

Rain boots moved with dull footsteps.

The shadow lowered its head and walked into the cabin.

It had a stiff, wooden face eerily similar to the male homeowner.

It seemed to ignore Lu Li behind the campfire and stepped towards the axe embedded in the wall.

Lu Li suddenly moved.

He put the unloaded Spirit-Calling Gun back into its holster, crouched, and rushed towards “Uncle,” his figure flitting past the campfire.

He pulled out a burning stick of wood, twisting his body in a half-spin, thrusting it towards “Uncle’s” head like a spear.

Snap—

The burning stick met “Uncle’s” ear, sparks flying in a burst, but it did not catch fire as imagined.

The rain on its body made it difficult to burn.

Lu Li’s attack finally drew “Uncle’s” gaze away from the axe, its head turning towards Lu Li with the stick jammed in its skull, and its hand, covered in callouses, swung a punch at Lu Li.

Lu Li raised his arms to block, and the instant the fist touched his arm, ripples visibly surged across Lu Li’s muscles.

Lu Li was sent flying, crashing into the wall.

“Lu Li!”

Anna’s breath spread out, entangling around the trunk of “Uncle” as it continued to approach the axe, only making its movement slow for an instant before it kept on walking.

“How can it be…

completely ineffective.”

Anna paused, shocked.

“Don’t think about binding it, it’s very strong.”

Lu Li supported himself against the wall, watching as “Uncle” pulled the axe from the wall and walked towards him.

A sharp whooshing sound filled the air, and Lu Li, giving up resistance, rolled to one side, evading the vertical chop.

The axe smashed into the wooden wall, creating a terrifying gash over a dozen centimeters long.

Amidst flying sawdust, “Uncle” pulled out the axe and once again walked towards Lu Li.

Lu Li looked at the gash letting in the cold wind, realizing he couldn’t let it continue to destroy the place, and also that he couldn’t keep dodging in this confined space.

Lu Li ducked under a horizontal sweep and turned to rush outside the cabin.

Anna saw Lu Li rush into the curtain of rain, with “Uncle” hoisting an axe and following behind him, dreamlike, as she picked up the oil lamp and drifted outside.

Of course, this time she didn’t forget to go through the open door.

The torrential rain hammered down, occasionally slashed by ghastly white lightning.

Anna saw Lu Li rush towards the logging area, and also saw “Uncle” move towards Lu Li, his right hand holding the axe aloft.

Anna’s eyes tightened with urgency as she shouted, “Don’t!”

The axe spun out of “Uncle’s” hand, everything around seeming to slow down in that instant.

The cascading raindrops, spinning and cleaving through the drops before them, pursued the dark silhouette running ahead—

Time suddenly resumed, and just as the axe was about to strike the figure, Lu Li fell into the mud as if tripped.

The axe narrowly flew over his head, brushing a few strands of his hair.

I…

I made it…

Anna, who had used her telekinesis to trip Lu Li by grabbing his legs, let out a sigh of relief, followed by a surge of deep fear.

She dared not imagine what she would do if Lu Li died there.

This fear mixed with the joy of a narrow escape tinted Anna’s eyes a faint red, her nose souring with emotion.

Shiver—

The fallen Lu Li looked up to see the axe buried in an outer wooden stake.

“The axe…”

Lu Li murmured softly, furrowing his brows as he stood up and turned to face “Uncle”.

On Lu Li’s face, there was not a trace of fear, as if he hadn’t just narrowly escaped being chopped.

Rainwater trailed down his wet black hair, his black eyes squinting as he watched the looming figure approach step by step through the rainy night.

“I didn’t kill your family.”

Lu Li suddenly spoke.

“Uncle” halted for a moment but continued walking.

He could understand, but he didn’t care…

Lu Li dodged to one side and saw that “Uncle” continued towards the stake where the axe was nailed.

After throwing the axe, he walks towards it, ignoring the enemy…

Lu Li stepped through the puddle, suddenly approached “Uncle”, and as he neared, “Uncle’s” head turned, his hand reaching for Lu Li.

Prepared, Lu Li stepped back, dodging the hand and watched as “Uncle” once again moved towards the axe.

Only if an enemy approaches, huh…

Eyelashes clumped with raindrops, Lu Li blinked them away and hurried towards the axe, grasping it with both hands and pulling it out before “Uncle” could reach it.

Is this…

Lu Li’s eyes clouded for a moment, his lips moved slightly, quickly saying something to Anna, who floated beside him.

Without waiting for Anna’s response, Lu Li lifted his gaze to the approaching “Uncle”, heaved the axe with force, throwing it away, and with a step, splashed a large swath of water as he charged at “Uncle”.

As Lu Li neared, “Uncle”, who was about to turn towards the thrown axe, instead shifted his target and raised his hand to grab the charging Lu Li.

Lu Li ducked his head to avoid the grab but could not dodge the second arm.

A cold, hard hand swung up from below, hitting Lu Li in the lower abdomen.

“Puah—”

His insides felt as if they were twisted together, and Lu Li’s body uncontrollably bent forward, caught by a thick arm around his neck and lifted from the ground.

Cackle—

His grip on Lu Li’s neck tightened, making an unbearable sound.

Suddenly, the pressure on his neck disappeared.

“Uncle” stood rigid for a few seconds before his head slid off his neck.

The body out of control fell backward, revealing a girl in a white dress holding the axe in a swinging stance, her chest heaving with rapid breaths.

In the midst of the rain, a hoarse voice sounded.

“Well done, Anna.”
