Detective Agency of the Bizarre -
Chapter 133 - 133 133
133: 133.
Office, principal’s office, and cafeteria 133: 133.
Office, principal’s office, and cafeteria Song Hongfang left the classroom on time, without extending the class.
The Beheaded Ghost shouted for someone to pick up his head, but no one paid attention to him.
Throughout the entire class period, he harassed all the students, not just the players; even the ghost creatures were visibly annoyed with him.
With no other choice, the Beheaded Ghost was forced to clumsily control his body and stumble around to retrieve his own head.
Lu Li left the classroom first, as usual.
He wasn’t the only one; a few other students, whose nature—human or ghost—was unclear, also left the classroom.
With the precedent set by Wei Yonghe, it was quite likely they were the latter.
This time, Lu Li didn’t head to the playground but explored down the dark, opaque corridor, his footsteps echoing far.
To the left of the classroom was an office, empty, with the teacher who had just left the classroom not inside.
Lu Li moved forward and stopped outside the door of the third manager’s office.
This was the end of the hallway.
The door was ajar, and Lu Li stood at the doorway.
Peering through the gap, he saw Song Hongfang lying on a desk with a corpulent figure pressing down on her.
Panting sounds leaked out from the gap in the door.
Lu Li was contemplating whether to go in and greet her when suddenly, the Song Hongfang being pressed against the desk turned her head directly towards the door gap.
Lu Li was spotted.
Song Hongfang tapped the corpulent figure, saying something to him, and he backed away, stepping out of sight beyond the door gap.
Song Hongfang straightened her skirt and disheveled wet hair, and walked toward the door.
Clack clack clack—
The sound of high heels was still sharp and clear.
Creak—
The old wooden door was yanked open, and the swirling air brought a damp smell to his face—it was just moisture from a Water Ghost.
“Is there something you need?”
Song Hongfang stared at Lu Li, her tone chilling.
Light probed from the window in the office behind her, rendering her backlit face indiscernible.
Lu Li remained calm, as if he hadn’t seen anything, as if nothing had happened: “Teacher, I was wondering what the third period class is.”
“Physical education,” Song Hongfang paused, a chilly air gradually emanating out toward Lu Li.
“Did you see anything just now?”
“I did.”
In the midst of the suddenly intense chill, Lu Li added, “I saw the teacher discussing work-related matters with the manager.”
“…”
Song Hongfang fell silent, her breath slowly weakening and retracting.
“Leave now and remember to knock next time.”
“I will.”
Lu Li nodded, Song Hongfang closed the door, this time sealing it tightly.
Lu Li stood at the door a moment longer before turning back the way he came.
There was a good chance there was a camera in the manager’s office, too bad.
But were those old fools outside merely watching their disgraceful acts through the camera?
…
“Where the hell did this bastard spring from?
He really killed my mood!”
…
In the dim corridor heading back, Lu Li encountered a figure coming towards him.
The two passed by each other, as strangers do.
But shortly after Lu Li walked away, the receding footsteps behind him paused, then resumed, neither approaching nor withdrawing.
It seemed that the figure was secretly following him.
Lu Li acted as if he heard nothing, passing by the classrooms, the doorway, and headed toward a room at the other end of the Long House.
There was only one room on this side: the cafeteria.
Though serving a different purpose, it was about the size of three classrooms combined.
The old, flaking tables and chairs were still neatly arranged, with wide gaps between them.
The dim light seeped through the windows into the cafeteria.
At the far end, a huge, fat figure was busy in the back kitchen.
As the only other living being in the canteen besides himself—a moving object, Lu Li naturally walked towards the window.
The busy, corpulent figure had his back to Lu Li and hadn’t noticed the newcomer.
Approaching the window, a scent of meat wafted from it.
Lu Li shifted his position and saw from the side the figure’s fan-like ears and pig nose as well as the meat soup he was stirring in a large pot.
Chunks of meat bobbed in the soup, from which the fragrance emanated.
Lu Li did not feel any ghostly aura from it.
Was it a monster, like a Pig Demon?
In the Ghost Envoy Manual, monsters correspond to spirits, which are special living beings with consciousness.
Generally speaking, in such a sinister setting, if the cook is eerie and silent—then there must be something wrong with the meat in the pot.
Lu Li shifted his gaze and started observing other parts of the back kitchen.
Due to lack of ventilation, a thick layer of oily fume covered the entire back kitchen’s walls, while above the big pot, the grease piled up layer after layer like amber or icicles in winter.
The greasy, dark floor nearly hid its original color.
In a corner of the back kitchen, Lu Li saw a leg, one clad in dark blue jeans.
More of it was hidden in a corner behind the window, out of sight.
Lu Li recognized those jeans—they should have been worn by Wei Yonghe, who had gone missing.
The identity of this body was self-evident.
The presence of a body without any drag marks indicated danger here.
Lu Li silently stepped back, preparing to leave the place.
But typically, at this point, the eerie figure would notice something and then turn around—
Lu Li encountered exactly this cliché scenario.
He had come unnoticed, but was discovered just as he was leaving silently.
The corpulent figure with a pig’s head turned around, holding a soup ladle, his greasy apron stained all over.
It looked at Lu Li and snorted like a pig, “Classmate, it’s not yet time for dinner.
But since you’re here, could you help me with something?”
To help you turn into an ingredient to alleviate the school’s food issues?
“I still have classes to attend,” Lu Li declined politely.
“Alright, I’ve already had some help anyway.” The Pig Demon didn’t insist and turned back to continue stirring the pot of meat soup.
The eliminated Wei Yonghe had unwittingly helped Lu Li; otherwise, the Pig Demon wouldn’t have been so easily persuaded, nor would Lu Lu have escaped so easily.
“How much longer?” With the crisis averted, Lu Li moved closer to the window instead of retreating.
“Soon, it will be ready soon…”
The Pig Demon murmured a response with its back to him.
After watching for a while, Lu Li suddenly noticed two kitchen tools placed under the window: a kitchen knife and a Bone-crushing Hammer.
Unable to bring items with him into the illusion, Lu Li just needed replacements—and these tools might have been intentionally placed by Jinlongyu Taoist temple to allow players to combat Ghost Creatures.
In other words: they might be able to harm the Ghost Creatures.
Taking advantage of the Pig Demon’s unawareness, Lu Li reached over the window, grabbed the kitchen knife and Bone-crushing Hammer, and then turned without hesitation to leave the canteen.
At the entrance of the canteen, Lu Li, suddenly stepping out, almost collided with a figure.
Lu Li narrowed his eyes, recognizing the young man following him.
“You seem to be searching for something.” The young man initiated conversation, subtly moving closer to Lu Li.
“First day of classes, just getting familiar with the place, was about to go up to the second floor to check it out,” Lu Li replied casually, as if unaware of any issues.
He kept a knife and a hammer tightly in his hands hidden behind him.
The young man’s eyes suddenly brightened, eager to ask, “Do you need me to show you around?
The second floor has dorms and restrooms.”
“Sure, that would be great,” Lu Li nodded in agreement, readily accepting.
With a few minutes to spare before class, he intended to head upstairs for a look, and having someone to show the way was perfect.
