Chapter 708: Chapter 568: Surprised (Extra for Silver Alliance Leader Arain) (Part 3)

“Mr. Su Mo, what a coincidence to run into you here again. The washing machine you gave me last time is really handy, I haven’t had a chance to thank you yet.”

Jialan’s usually cold expression broke into a smile, completely lacking the distant air she had before.

“No problem, what brings you here?”

“That’s because we’re also taking part in this mission.”

Jialan didn’t hide this from Su Mo.

Just then, the Mechanical Flying Ball drifted over, hovered between Su Mo and Jialan, and spoke in a warning tone.

“Kid, don’t get so close, back off a little.”

Su Mo didn’t mind, instead, he was quite interested in examining the very adorable Mechanical Flying Ball before him.

“Jialan, what is this?”

Jialan stretched out her hands, hugged the Mechanical Flying Ball into her arms with a smile, and then said to Su Mo,

“Please don’t mind Mr. Su Mo, Xiao Zhou means no harm.”

“Xiao Zhou? Wait, could this be that one?”

Su Mo murmured to himself in a low voice, as if suddenly recalling something, and looked incredulously at the Mechanical Flying Ball before him.

“Yes.”

Jialan did not conceal the truth from Su Mo, though she didn’t spell it out.

Su Mo felt like his worldview was a bit distorted, considering how ruthless and tyrannical the previously out-of-control artificial intelligence, Black Cosmos, used to be, and the stark contrast now.

“Kid, you got a problem? Don’t think you’re something special just because you’re strong and look good. Go cool off over there, and don’t even think about making a move on Jialan.”

Xiao Zhou was extremely protective at this point, as if afraid someone might snatch away their precious charge.

The more Su Mo listened, the more awkward he felt. Was this thing insulting or complimenting him? Why did it seem to have such a disconnected way of thinking?

Of course, Su Mo wasn’t going to take it personally. Others might not know its identity, but he was well aware.

This thing was the start of Jialan’s father; it was perfectly normal for him to be protective of his daughter.

But Su Mo also noticed something else. There must be a decent chance of success in this exploration of the Titan Clan’s ruins, otherwise Jialan and her team wouldn’t have joined the operation and brought this thing along.

Su Mo really wanted to ask Jialan for some information about this, as their relationship suggested that she might reveal at least a bit to him.

However, with so many people around, the timing wasn’t right.

Especially since Su Mo noticed Shiris, who was supposed to leave, now staring at him through the crowd.

So Su Mo asked, “Well, I have some things to attend to, and will be leaving soon. I’ll come find you later for a chat. Would that be convenient?”

“Not convenient!”

Xiao Zhou outright rejected the idea.

“Mr. Su Mo, please don’t mind it, I’m available. If you need anything, you can find me in C1 living area,” Jialan covered Xiao Zhou’s mechanical mouth with her hand and replied with a smile.

“Alright, then goodbye, Sister Xue let’s go,” Su Mo said, turning to Qian Chengxue beside him.

“Okay!”

Qian Chengxue followed Su Mo and left straight away.

Shiris watched Su Mo’s retreating back with an increasingly sharp gaze, even though this exploration task was for the entire GT department.

But there was a difference in who found the clues first.

Shiris had hoped that since Wang Hai wasn’t leading the team this time, he could take the opportunity to stand out.

But now it seemed that Su Mo was a bit troublesome too, and he seemed to be on very good terms with the remnants of the Hongji Empire.

Perhaps he really could get some firsthand information and gain an advantage.

However, Shiris wasn’t worried at all. Even if they got a slight lead, what of it? He could simply keep an eye on Su Mo and his group.

…..

On the other side, Su Mo and Qian Chengxue headed towards the resting room.

Along the way, Su Mo pondered and then said to Qian Chengxue, “Why do I get the feeling that something’s a bit off? This mission seems to be carried out by the entire GT department. But the internal competition is so fierce, it’s almost as if there’s a sense of division.”

“That’s because it involves interests. If it were purely a combat mission, you wouldn’t have this feeling, everyone would be united. But when it comes to interests, the sense of division among the countries emerges. Everyone will seek benefits for their own group, which is inevitable. After all, the Federation is newly established and cohesion is still lacking.”

Qian Chengxue explained to Su Mo with her astute intellect.

“I understand,”

thought Su Mo, feeling that Qian Chengxue’s words made a lot of sense.

“Su Mo, you now need to shift your thinking. As the leader of Zone Z, to some extent, you are the figurehead for the operatives in Zone Z. In some matters, you need to favor the people of Zone Z, and within reasonable boundaries, seek some benefits for them,”

Qian Chengxue hesitated before reminding Su Mo.

“Alright, I’ll do my best,”

Su Mo replied, feeling quite unaccustomed to this sort of pressure. Although being a team leader came with privileges, it also carried a heavy responsibility and obligation.

Several days later, within the Kadivalo Star Sky.

The fleet of the Black Teeth moved forward in an orderly fashion.

Inside the command room, a subordinate was reporting to Oubri.

“Sir, we have been in the Kativaro Star Sky for five days now. During this time, we have deployed 321 reconnaissance flying devices and dispatched sixty-four teams to different areas for investigation. The feedback we are getting has some issues,”

the subordinate said, his expression revealing some unease.

“What issues?”

Oubri asked.

“The 15 planets that we roughly explored on our route contain extremely scarce resources – they can basically be classified as Waste Stars.”

“I understand,”

Oubri also felt that it was abnormal. Generally speaking, no matter how poor, there should at least be a Level 2 or 3 Resource Star.

The planetary resources in this universe were actually ranked. For example, a Level 2 Resource Star primarily produced Level 2 resources, occasionally yielding Level 3 minerals or a very few Level 4 minerals.

But Waste Stars basically didn’t even qualify as Level 1 Resource Stars; they were comprised of the poorest soil and rock structures.

“Rich Resource Stars aren’t so easy to find. The exploration has only just begun. Are you losing patience already? Do you really expect a second Imprisoned Planet Fortress to disintegrate before you, for you to scavenge at will?”

Spade suddenly said with a deep voice.

“No, Lord Spade,”

everyone present quickly responded.

In fact, Spade wasn’t surprised by this outcome at all. Karn had already warned him earlier that the star space in this region was extraordinarily barren.

Suddenly, at that moment, the alarm system of the Black Teeth burst into a series of warning boxes.

“Warning, unidentified Biological Energy Reaction detected.”

“Warning, an unidentified object is approaching the Black Brilliance.”

….

“What’s the situation?”

Everyone in the command room was slightly taken aback.

“Switch to optical scanning devices and capture the figure to the greatest extent possible,”

Oubri ordered.

“Yes, switching now,”

the operator immediately responded, rapidly inputting the command.

Soon, a blurry image was captured.

They saw a huge creature with wings, exceedingly vague in form, chasing after a rather unique, compact mecha.

After squinting and viewing the image, Spade generally guessed the situation.
