Chapter 518 - 518 444 Test
518: Chapter 444 Test 518: Chapter 444 Test Around noon, Su Mo and Karina arrived in the Central District.
“Miss Karina, do you have any particular favorites when it comes to food?”
Su Mo asked as he looked at the dazzling array of restaurants on the street.
Being a joint system, the restaurants’ flavors and styles varied greatly.
“Somewhere quiet would be fine,”
Karina elegantly replied.
“How about we go to the Sky Restaurant?
That place is pretty good,”
Lan Fen abruptly interrupted Karina, her tone somewhat malicious.
“That might not be such a good idea.”
Karina hesitated a bit; the Sky Restaurant was known for its exorbitant prices.
“No worries, since Miss Venla has suggested it, let’s head to the Sky Restaurant,”
Su Mo hadn’t chosen a place on his own in the rush to invite someone, and to him, dining anywhere was the same.
“Alright then!”
Karina didn’t say more.
Lan Fen revealed a meaningful smile, “Mr.
Su Mo is really straightforward….”
“It’s fine, let’s go.”
Su Mo didn’t mind….
A moment later, the trio arrived at a very stylish restaurant, its interior decor luxurious yet understated—subtle and opulent.
A female waiter enthusiastically led them inside; they found a corner spot to sit down.
Su Mo opened the menu, glanced at the prices, and was slightly surprised—the Sky Restaurant wasn’t cheap!
It even had dishes priced in Star Coins, but Su Mo’s expression didn’t change much.
As long as he didn’t order dishes priced in Star Coins, even the most expensive items didn’t matter to him.
“Do either of you have something particular you’d like to eat?”
“Just order anything,”
Karina replied casually.
“Right, you choose,”
Lan Fen thought to herself, this is going to be tough; a meal here could easily cost tens of thousands of Federation Coins.
“Sure!”
Su Mo nodded and responded, finding Karina quite unique.
Although he wasn’t very familiar with her, he felt very comfortable interacting and talking with her, as refreshing as a spring breeze.
Before long, a table full of sumptuous dishes arrived.
Su Mo and his companions ate while chatting.
Karina asked curiously, “Mr.
Su Mo, you look very unfamiliar; I haven’t seen you around before.”
“Oh, that’s normal, I wasn’t working in the GT department before, and I only joined the GT department not long ago,”
Su Mo began to explain.
Lan Fen looked up at Su Mo, asking warily, “You just joined the GT department?
Don’t tell me you followed Karina into the GT department after seeing her on the street?”
“Uh, no, not at all.”
“Yeah right,”
Lan Fen expressed her disbelief.
Su Mo felt quite embarrassed; he coughed and said to Karina, “About what happened last time, it was really a misunderstanding, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, you apologized back then, there’s no need to apologize again.
By the way, Mr.
Su Mo, may I ask why you suddenly joined the GT department?
Were you unhappy in your original unit?”
Karina began to probe without showing her intent.
“That’s not it, I was fine in my original unit,”
Su Mo responded after a short silence.
“Then what is it?”
“Actually, not to hide it from you, I came to the GT department looking for someone,”
Su Mo looked up at Karina, his tone sincere.
“Looking for someone?
I guess you came looking for Karina, right?
You just won’t admit it.
Otherwise, what are the odds?
You really are timid, not even daring to admit that,”
Venla scoffed disparagingly.
“Uh, I really got it wrong,”
Su Mo was both amused and unable to blame Venla for her harsh words—who would believe him?
“Mr.
Su Mo, the person you are looking for is in the GT department, and she looks similar to me?”
Karina looked intently at Su Mo, speculating.
“She should be in the GT department, and she does look somewhat like you,”
Su Mo, upon Karina’s asking, took a closer look and thought there indeed was a resemblance, which seemed a reasonable explanation for his mistaken identity.
“Don’t believe his nonsense, Karina.
You’re so beautiful, a renowned beauty within the GT department.
I’ve never heard of anyone resembling you, and if there really was, that girl would have been chased madly by now,”
Venla utterly disbelieved.
Karina’s eyes twinkled with interest, and she curiously inquired, “To go as far as to chase into the GT department, she must be quite exceptional, right?
Is she your girlfriend?
Did something happen between you two?”
“Uh, actually, we’re not lovers…,”
Su Mo was somewhat at a loss for words, unsure of how to describe their relationship.
“Not lovers, yet you followed her into the GT department?
You must be lovesick,”
Lan Fen reveled in schadenfreude.
“Not really, just friends,”
Su Mo was a bit unclear himself.
Karina grew even more curious and asked, “Mr.
Su Mo, did you join the expedition and the GT department all for her?”
“Kind of,”
Su Mo lowered his head slightly, looking at his coffee, and replied with some melancholy.
Karina watched Su Mo’s expressions and tone, gradually realizing the answer.
This person likely wasn’t problematic; his unusual behavior was probably all in pursuit of someone.
“So, Mr.
Su Mo, have you found her yet?”
“Not yet, Miss Karina, if I may ask boldly, are you a data analyst?”
Su Mo took a deep breath and looked up at Karina.
Venla, with a sly expression, commented, “Karina’s a data analyst?
You must be joking; despite her beauty, she’s no mere figurehead.
She’s far stronger than you, currently an elite Combatant and about to be promoted to a backup member.”
