Chapter 510 - 510 442 Waiting for an Opportunity to Act
510: Chapter 442: Waiting for an Opportunity to Act 510: Chapter 442: Waiting for an Opportunity to Act Half an hour later, Su Mo, piloting the Iron Guard, followed the troops as they closed in on the asteroid field.
Broken asteroids were everywhere, large and small.
Su Mo glanced at the radar display interface, but it didn’t scan many red dots.
The enemy had probably entered stealth mode, which meant they were in stationary hide mode.
This wasn’t good news, for they might get ambushed unexpectedly.
After briefly observing, other Legion squads had already begun entering the asteroid field.
But Mo Baoke didn’t rush in right away; instead, he took Su Mo and the others around the outskirts of the asteroid field.
After most of their companions had entered, he then boldly led the troops in.
As they penetrated deeper, everything was eerily quiet.
Su Mo warily watched the asteroids gliding by.
Seeing no enemy for a long time, Mo Baoke kept howling through the communication channel.
“A bunch of losers, haven’t seen a single one in ages, like a bunch of shrinking turtles!”
“The main team leader is right,”
Kolev responded in a heavy voice.
Su Mo was somewhat speechless; they were the last to enter the asteroid field.
If the forward troops hadn’t started fighting, the chances of encountering enemies were naturally not high for them either.
At this moment, behind the floating asteroids, Iron Slave Mechas were quietly clinging to the rocks.
Their grey hulls blended in with the nearby asteroids, making them indistinguishable from the rocks.
Suddenly, the eyes of the motionless mechas lit up with a crimson glow.
In an instant, those mechas concealed within the asteroid belt sprang to life, revealing their sharp fangs like awakened beasts.
Inside the Iron Guard cockpit, Su Mo, who was internally mocking Mo Baoke, suddenly tensed up, his nerves tingling sharply with the sense of danger.
He issued a warning through the communication channel at once.
“Members of the tenth squad, be careful, the enemy is attacking!”
Zhao Bo and others, upon hearing Su Mo’s warning, raised their high-speed, close-range guns, vigilant of their surroundings.
Mo Baoke, startled by Su Mo’s words, glanced at his radar screen, which had not detected any red dots, and scolded.
“Lieutenant Su Mo, don’t issue false alarms, there are no enemies…”
Before he could finish, several beams of light suddenly streaked toward his forehead from the distance.
Kolev issued an urgent warning, “Commander, be careful.”
Mo Baoke, scared out of his wits, quickly pulled on the joystick, making the Black Steel Mecha evade violently.
But he couldn’t avoid it completely, and his armor immediately suffered a beam strike.
Boom~
The whole mecha shook violently; fortunately, the Black Steel Mecha was a Heavy Mecha, and its armor was strong enough to withstand a hit without severe damage.
Iron Slave Mechas emerged from behind the surrounding asteroids, attacking wildly.
Moving at high speed, they viciously fired at Su Mo and the others like ferocious wolves!
However, they were up against the GT department’s forces, and even the reserves were selected from among the elite.
Not one panicked.
Kolev immediately gave the order.
“Counterattack!”
Su Mo and the others dodged incoming attacks while methodically returning fire.
The Training Mecha Formations of other Legions weren’t so fortunate; many teammates were caught off-guard by the ambush, leading to chaos and no dominance as they had anticipated.
By this time, Mo Baoke had also regained his composure.
The initial ambush had scared him, but after a careful look, the attackers were just a bunch of Iron Slaves, with no Second Generation mechas — no threat to him at all.
A surge of shame rose, and he angrily shouted.
“Counterattack!
Hit them hard!”
In response, Mo Baoke soon drove his Black Steel toward an Iron Slave.
Seeing this, the Iron Slave started to flee.
“Think you can run?
No chance.”
Mo Baoke controlled the Black Steel Mecha to accelerate and catch up, and as he neared the fleeing mecha, he swung a black Long Spear, piercing through it instantly.
Boom.
“Haha, so much for that.
Everybody hold firm and take them down one by one,” Mo Baoke boasted over the communication channel.
Just then, from behind a drifting asteroid, a Second Generation Mecha, Red Guard, lit up its eyes.
It immediately surged from the side, its crimson Blade spearheading towards Mo Baoke like a beam of light.
Caught in his moment of triumph, Mo Baoke suddenly sensed danger approaching.
In the nick of time, he violently pulled the joystick.
The Black Steel Mecha lifted its black spear to barely block the crimson Long Spear.
Bang~
The whole Black Steel Mecha kept retreating.
Instantly, the Red Guard, like a madman, continued to swipe its crimson Long Spear at Mo Baoke.
Mo Baoke’s face went pale, wondering why he was so unlucky to have been targeted by a Second Generation mecha.
He was filled with terror as he continuously raised his black spear to parry.
But under the shadow of death, Mo Baoke unleashed his full potential.
Despite being pursued, at least he wasn’t taken down.
“Quick, someone support me!”
Mo Baoke cried desperately over the communication channel.
Upon hearing this, Kolev and the others looked back and saw the Second Generation Mecha, Red Guard, chasing Mo Baoke.
They immediately responded.
“Commander, hang in there!
We’re coming to support you!”
Immediately after, Kolev burst into action, controlling the Iron Guard Mecha to sidestep an Iron Slave’s attack, lifting an Alloy Blade and thrusting it directly into the enemy mecha’s head,
Boom!
After dispatching the enemy in front of him, he directed his mecha towards Mo Baoke, shouting over the communication channel.
“Anyone who can disengage, do so immediately and support Commander Baoke!”
