Chapter 25: [25] Ellen’s situation

Though Zick didn’t want to see Scout-33 die again in this round. Her value overall couldn’t help him all the time, hence internally he added very less importance to her.

Staying at Dain’s workshop for the night, Zick left the next morning.

While in the car, Zick was surprised to see the many notifications on his new account. Going through it, he sent the information required without hesitation.

After carrying out the same maneuver a few times, he made around 55,000 wing points in no time.

The chances of being scammed in [End’s wing] was nearly impossible, points had to be transferred before the recipient could see the information Zick sent.

’My name should spread in no time like this...’ Zick coldly thought to himself.

Placing the mobile back in the storage ring, Zick rested his back on the seat.

He needed to tackle Khein while attending the academy. If normal recruitment doesn’t work, he knew how to use other methods.

’And knowing him, it’s better to start with a heavy hand to begin with...’

Like blackmailing him with his secondary identity, used to conduct innumerable crimes in the name of seeking revenge.

There were many ways. It just depended on how Zick applied it.

Stepping out of the car, Zick’s new face was revealed, appearing to be in his 30s. There was a chance that people would keep an eye on him if [Cash out]’s face was used.

Going through random shops, Zick quickly returned to his original appearance at an unpopulated area and moved towards the academy.

There was no point in heading back to his own house. He would rather stay in the academy then have to make another return trip later on.

He closed his door and sat on the table with the computer. He looked through [End’s wing]’s commision pool and any other hot news pertaining to the underworld.

’Right, I almost forgot about Ellen. I need to make a manual on how to conquer her.’ Zick became serious and read through the file that he acquired yesterday about her.

The frown on Zick’s just grew by every second he read through the file.

’...What the hell am I reading?’

This was Zick’s first thought.

The starting few pages did contain many things that Ellen seems to like or prefer. However, soon it turned into a medical record.

–Jecimenuim: a mana disease where chaotic elements intrude into the internal organs, acting similar to a cancer.

–Kulyeumen: A condition where the patient suffering from it would continue to suffer from the feeling of sinking into endless water.

.....

There were dozens of illnesses that were listed as what Ellen suffered from a young age.

Zick quickly found a peculiar similarity in it right away.

"They are all mana diseases, every last one of it....The one loved by mana — does this trait attract mana diseases too?"

Zick fell into contemplation finding out such a side effect, to the seemingly unparalleled magic talent.

Lost in thought for a few minutes, he finished reading the file and erased it.

Though the chances were unknown, if someone hacked into his account it would be quite problematic.

The last few lines on the file’s page flashed in his mind.

[It is suspected that Ellen suffers from Syepterc symptoms - yet to be verified.]

’Syepterc...’ A cold glint appeared in Zick’s eyes.

It was one of the most agonizing illnesses where the patient would experience their life-force slowly sucked away from them.

Even if their body was supplemented with something that could recover the lost life-force, the internal growth of strange chaotic-cells would claim their life.

There was no patience that survived this mana disease in the world.

’System, does Ellen suffer from Syepterc disease?’ Zick questioned seriously.

[Ding! It is detected that Ellen’s bears high destiny. 1,000 destiny points will be required.]

’Just take it.’

Zick ordered impatiently.

[Syepterc disease has slowly begun to take root in Ellen’s body. It wouldn’t be long before symptoms start showing up....]

Crackle~!

The table that Zick gripped made cracking sounds.

’As I thought, Ethereal must have made a connection with Ellen at this time. Only reality magic can cure this Syepterc disease. I see, so this how they pulled her into their side. I found a lead at last....’

Feeling his excited self, Zick closed his laptop and headed to his private training room. It would be problematic if his mindless Seizure arose again.

Even while training with his sword, Zick’s mind kept working at full speed.

A lead appeared before him at last. If the cards are played right, Ellen could definitely be pulled into his side.

’And I can definitely increase my favorability with her quickly this way. But....’

Zick stopped practicing his sword and stared into the ground blankly.

However, to accomplish his plan, Zick realized he would need to expose more of his ability.

The ability that led to Aster’s second stab at his heart.

’Sigh, let’s bet it all on Ellen’s worth.’ Zick wasn’t the one to linger on a single problem for no reason.

In the end, No matter how complex the plan, the end result always stays a mystery. It was a fact he came to realise in the last decade of his life.

The ability that Zick talked of was related to his other talent - [Mana magnetism (A)]. A talent that didn’t seem very useful leaving aside from gathering mana faster.

Who knew that this single innate talent would promote Zick’s potential in magic to top-tier?

Placing aside the sword, Zick sat down with crossed legs.

Thousands of years ago, when technology and common knowledge wasn’t spread to a large extent.

It was the age of war and destruction, when people came up with a reckless method of using magic - a tool for their victory.

That was through fusing a mana crystal to the heart, inscribed with a single element. Though the fusion method was crude at best, it brought extraordinary strength to the wielder.

The mana crystal gave even an ordinary person immense strength. Along with the boost of being able to quickly use the element inscribed in it, there was no better way to make fodders into war weapons.

The silver lining being - more than 99% of the people who went through this procedure died due to the rejection of the mana crystal, in their hearts.

It was a famous lesson in history classes.

’I was able to create a method similar to them. However, I don’t have to worry about any rejection, as my talent [Mana magnetism] would take the place of mana crystal.’

Zick didn’t want to create a magic heart at this time to gather attention. Now it seemed necessary to conquer Ellen faster.

He needed to act quickly, before Ethereal even got any chance.
