Chapter 88: Chapter 88

Ian’s beautiful blue eyes watched Gruvv’s every move, his second child undergoing therapy with emptiness. From the moment he opened his eyes after 6 month in a coma state, only strange, unusual babble came out of his mouth. The first time he opened his eyes, he asked why Ian never accompanied him to play in the playroom.

It made Ian surprised, what dreams had come into his head during his long coma?

After the doctor examined Gruvv, Ian asked why Gruvv was asking something strange. The doctor explained to him that Gruvv’s memories were most likely between his vulnerable ages, the ages where he started to become aware of his surroundings.

"Perhaps the memory of the promise to play together is most vivid in his memory." The doctor said that to Ian.

When Ian came back into the room, he was crying. Taking off his glasses he wiped the tears that fell down his cheeks.

A long time ago, when Gruvv was little, the child was not like Cross who was so cranky, often crying and whining. Gruvv was the silent one. Ian who was worried went to see many therapists and child psychologists for Gruvv, but they said there was nothing wrong with the child. Gruvv is just a quiet child who likes to observe his surroundings.

Gruvv’s silence always made Ian nervous around him, the boy always looked awkward. Ian thought it might be because Gruvv was often entrusted to his nanny when he was young, Ian didn’t have much free time at the time, not to mention the issue of Cross who was required to be the successor. Because of that, Sage and Cross often quarreled and it distracted Ian. He didn’t mean to make Gruvv feel alone.

He never thought that he was hurting Gruvv. After Joshua’s came to their family, Gruvv was always attached to Ian, he would take care of Joshua in the nursery and even fall asleep when Ian accompanied Joshua to nap or sleep at night. Ian thought it was because Gruvv loved Joshua so much, but maybe at that time Gruvv felt it was his chance to get close to Ian.

No matter how big the child was now, for Ian, Gruvv was still a child and he felt so guilty for giving him bad memories. Ian didn’t want to lose Gruvv forever.

That day, the day Gruvv opened his eyes and was babbling something strange, Ian returned home in the middle of the night after making sure that Gruvv was okay. He returned and went to his husband’s study. The man was sitting in his work chair, reading the files scattered on the desk. He lifted his face when Ian walked into the room, taking off his glasses, Sage knew that his husband was not well.

He kept the file in his hand on the table as Ian came closer.

"How is he?" Asked Sage, he had heard from George that Gruvv had woken up from his coma. George reported that Gruvv regained consciousness several times but returned to a coma repeatedly.

"His condition has started to stabilize, if he can stay awake longer it will be much better." Ian replied, he walked over to Sage. The man with the beard who was sitting down gently took Ian’s hand, making him sit on the man’s thigh. His large, athletic body looked equal to his husband’s.

Ian looked deeply at Sage. His heart had not been well since he got the news that Gruvv’s consciousness had decreased after the raid on Samuel Foster’s residence. Ian still remembered how his husband called and informed him that Gruvv had fallen into a coma.

His heart was broken.

Gruvv had always beaten, it was no longer a surprise. But he had never been hurt this badly. He had been stabbed or wounded in several parts of his body but not to the point of losing consciousness until he fell into a coma. Gruvv is good at fighting, since childhood he has participated in many martial arts. So when he heard that, Ian’s world seemed to collapse.

That day, he immediately went to the hospital with Paul Sherburne and Bethany.

"He’ll be very reeling up if he finds out about Shiloh..." Ian said in a hoarse voice, his eyes showing he was on the verge of tears. Sage stroked his husband’s cheek.

This was the hardest blow for them, Gruvv who was feeling angry at the time lost control. When he fell down the stairs, the medics brought Samuel Foster into the house, they tried to save the man but he died on the spot after being hit by Gruvv and also the wooden beam that was repeatedly smashed into his head by Gruvv.

Louis Baxter tried to cover it up with this additional gang fight so that the report would be different, the Foster family could not sue because the Dhurudatta family threatened them with taking their territory and property involved with money laundering.

Gil was taken in by the police, and is now on hold. Samuel Foster had killed three people, Shem Powers, Mosha Gilmore and Arthur. But the man couldn’t be on trial because he was dead too, so Louis Baxter took it out on Gil by manipulating his report. He didn’t care, he just wanted the man to stay out of jail and get the death penalty if necessary.

Shiloh himself was in a room on the second floor of the house. He was in a very bad condition, having a bad seizure. Although Samuel Foster was not an Alpha, the man’s semen caused Shiloh’s marked body to experience extreme rejection.

Yes, that day Shiloh was found in a condition that was impossible to show Gruvv. He was raped by Samuel Foster before Dhurudatta family attacked Foster residence. His condition was truly deplorable.

Similar to Gruvv, Shiloh also experienced a loss of consciousness that day. His pregnancy almost had to be terminated due to his condition. More precisely, he almost died that day.

"It’s not yet time for Gruvv to know that Shiloh is being taken to her family’s country."

When Shiloh lost consciousness and was almost declared comatose, Paul and Bethany Sherburne decided to bring him back to their country. Beforehand, they discussed with the doctor about the Gruvv pheromone that should be periodically administered to Shiloh.

After a long process and Sherburne family’s request to be close to Shiloh, it was decided to send clothes or blankets worn by Gruvv periodically. until Shiloh’s pregnancy is at a safe month.

"We can’t force them to leave Shiloh here, they still have a right to him." Sage said to Ian.

Ian leaned his body against Sage. He felt so tired, after six months of waiting for Gruvv to finally wake up. Four months ago, Shiloh opened his eyes again in the hospital. When he got the news from Bethany, Ian really felt relieved. What he feared did not happen.

"You’ve been crying all night because Shiloh is also in a coma for two months, it’s all over. Gruvv will get through it."

Ian looked at Sage, "Yeah, but what are we going to tell Gruvv that the worst thing he’ll have to face after he’s much better off?"

Ian sighed. Even his last question was not answered by Sage. He didn’t know how to convey his message to Gruvv. Shiloh returned to this country last month, before Gruvv woke up from his coma. And he is in this hospital now because his pregnancy is in its eighth month, next month he will give birth. He occupied the top floor of this room accompanied by Bethany Sherburne who decided to come to the country with him.

Gruvv’s condition was much better, the man had started to walk on his own even though he was using a cane. But that blank look in his eyes must have been because he was thinking about Shiloh.

"But, why didn’t he ask about Shiloh?" Ian muttered.

Gruvv came out of the bathroom using a cane, Ian who was sitting on the sofa watched the man walk to the bed and sit there, his legs were still so weak to support his body as well as his hands that were still not so strong to grip. But there was nothing wrong with his development.

"Gruvv, Maeve finally won her divorce from Mateo." Ian provoked conversation by throwing the topic of Maeve at Gruvv who was now sitting on the bed. The man’s eyes rounded.

"Oh, really?"

"Yes, she spent six months fighting her own family and also Elnathan’s family."

Gruvv was silent for a while, as if weighing up something to ask.

"How about Seth?"

Ian raised both his eyebrows, this conversation was already on the right track according to his wishes, "Of course Maeve got her custody, she brought evidence that what the Elnathan family and also Gil did was illegal."

Gruvv looked down and nodded, Ian waited. Waiting for Gruvv to ask about Shiloh, however, there were no more questions. The man remained silent and cast his gaze out the window.

"Uh, Gruvv? Isn’t there anything else you want to know?" Ian asked.

Gruvv turned to Ian, they looked at each other for a long time before Gruvv finally shook his head softly. "Nothing."

Ian felt that something was wrong. Why? Why doesn’t Gruvv want to know about Shiloh? Joshua said Gruvv told him that he could still smell pheromones, then, could he not smell Shiloh’s pheromones? Several times Ian deliberately made Shiloh pass through Gruvv’s room.

Ian scratched his head, he didn’t know what to explain to Gruvv. What happened to Shiloh now, he should tell him.
