DESTINED MATE : SWEET ALPHA PHEROMONE -
Chapter 67 - SETH AND MAEVE
Chapter 67: Chapter 67 - SETH AND MAEVE
As time went on, spending time with Seth became a cure-all for Maeve. Working in her family’s company, spending days feeling miserable because of the burden placed on her, the mistakes made by her siblings and her having to solve them all became all too familiar.
However, there is now a hope of happiness waiting for her at home. That’s right, Seth.
After the night where she cried because Seth smiled at her in a half-asleep state, and also the small hand that touched her cheek, Seth’s room became her favorite place. She would immediately change her clothes and clean herself up then run to Seth’s room, she would spend more time there than she spent alone in the room.
Seth, being her favorite person.
Seth would scream with excitement when she came, the boy’s twinkling eyes when she saw her coming was like a warm welcome that Maeve always looked forward to. The scent of a baby’s body coming from Seth added to what she loved about the baby.
She always took the time to go to that room.
Maeve could hold Seth for a long time as long as she took the pheromone blocker, she could kiss the baby, she could feed him from the bottle the nanny had prepared. As the elders wished, she was bonding with the baby.
Mateo always told her not to take the pheromone blocker if they didn’t have a public event, but Maeve never listened. Spending time in the nursery, chatting with Seth and seeing Seth’s growth up close was much more enjoyable than having to spend the day with Mateo.
Back when Maeve first met the man, she thought Mateo was arrogant. That was the face he showed, he was so cold to Maeve as if the engagement was Maeve’s fault.
However, Maeve overheard one of the maids in the house say that Mateo was always arguing with his parents. Because Mateo’s chosen Omega was not accepted by his parents.
"They love each other, but the Elnathan family won’t accept an Omega Dominant with a bad background."
The sentence rang out several times in the house, raising many questions in Maeve’s mind. However, she had no authority to ask. She was just curious. Occasionally during meetings Mateo would look so upset and angry at the people in the room, and once Maeve had caught Mateo being slapped hard by his parents.
When they were married, Mateo did not sleep in the same room as Maeve. They slept separately, only talking when they were in public. Being at Elnathan’s home was nice for Maeve because she didn’t have to see her own parents.
However, when talk of having children started to surface, Mateo approached her one afternoon.
"I heard you were an Omega Recessive?" He asked her, Maeve was in the Elnathan family’s library. Not far from the family’s main house. That day, it had been raining heavily since morning.
Maeve, who had just finished her lessons to continue her parents’ business, went to the library to calm down. A day of being berated by her mother had made her reluctant to interact with others.
She opened the window of the library wide, the smell of wet soil, the odor of grass exposed to the rain was clearly smelled, at that moment Mateo sat beside her, looking at her with a curious expression.
"Yes..." Maeve replied, closing the book she was reading slowly. The man was still wearing his suits and tie, he had just returned from work. His hair was neatly styled. This was the first time Maeve had ever looked at Mateo so closely.
"What is your percent chance of having a child?" He asked.
Maeve felt a little offended, her whole life her family had been asking that question to the doctors who monitored her. Her family was trying to get her to have a child even though she was an omega recessive.
Maeve lowered her head and shook her head slowly.
"Your family and my family have been busy and asking about children, they know that we have been sleeping separately." Saying this, Mateo tried to look at Maeve who was now away from him. The woman turned her face the other way, shifting her seat, she felt uncomfortable being in the same place as the man.
"Didn’t your family tell you this already? Hey, answer me!" Mateo was still rambling on beside Maeve, saying all sorts of things about the two families who were constantly forcing them to have a baby.
"There’s no need to listen to what they say, didn’t we already fulfill their wishes and getting married?" Maeve spoke in a slightly high tone, she was annoyed that Mateo kept harping on her about it.
"Hey, it’s not like that. I have a better idea."
"Idea?"
Mateo nodded.
"If your percentage is close to zero, what if we use a surrogate?"
Maeve gave the man a suspicious look, Mateo understood why his wife thought this was so strange.
"I want to have a child with someone I love, I mean, my ex."
Maeve listened as Mateo started to propose something crazy. A surrogate mother. He said he wanted to have a child from the Omega Dominant who used to be his lover, he wanted to have one so badly but he couldn’t because his family forbade it.
"Ah, the ex..." Maeve muttered, swallowing her words as she looked at Mateo.
Maeve didn’t know if she should get angry and express her disappointment to Mateo or if she should just keep quiet like she was doing now. She didn’t want to have children because it would hurt her to keep hoping, she never thought of taking care of someone else’s child either.
"I heard you want to take a position in my company? I’ll give it to you, won’t that make you free from your family?"
Mateo’s words managed to get Maeve interested, the woman turned her head and looked at the man in front of her. Acting as if she was disinterested and indifferent, yet waiting for the man to continue explaining.
"I will set up a business on your behalf, I will personally request that you take care of everything and ask your family to relinquish all your responsibilities in Giovanni’s company."
"It’s a promise." Maeve said in a low voice and Mateo nodded.
But she didn’t know that Mateo had personally go to his ex-lover’s father and paid the man off, and lied to the Omega about being a surrogate mother. Maeve had argued about it with Mateo, but Mateo had forced her to go along with it.
Now all Maeve can do is be Seth’s ’mom’. Maeve and Mateo never slept together, he always spent his RUT time with Omegas she didn’t know, and Maeve didn’t care. All she cared about was Seth.
Seth is her world now, she loved that boy. When Seth was one year old, the boy called her ’mama’ a title that during her time as an Omega recessive had never crossed Maeve’s mind.
She is a mother now.
She became a little obsessive and also protective of Seth, all her attention was on the boy. Until one day she was trapped with Mateo when he went into RUT, an event she didn’t want to happen. The two have sex, she hates that night and wants to get rid of the memory of that day. But strangely, Mateo stopped calling just any Omega to keep him company during the RUT, he asked Maeve to serve him.
Now Mateo uses the business he is about to build to threaten Maeve into having sex with him. Maeve hated it, she didn’t like it, she was forced to do it. In Seth’s second year in the house, Seth suddenly burst into tears when Maeve entered the room. It shocked Maeve, something she didn’t care about was now something that frightened her.
"I think the older the young master gets, the more his level of smell for pheromones increases. The current dose taken by Madame is no longer effective." The doctor said that day, Maeve had not seen Seth for a week and now she was almost frustrated.
"What- what should I do?" She asked desperately.
"You’ll have to take a dose twice as heavy as you’re used to."
"No, there’s no need." Mateo said, he said it firmly.
"What? What do you mean?"
Mateo frowned, "Do you know how your body feels from taking that medicine?!" His voice raised.
"What do you care?! I’ll take that drug to be with Seth!"
Mateo kicked off the table, and shouted loudly, "STOP! SETH ISN’T EVEN YOUR BIOLOGICAL SON!"
Those words cut into Maeve’s heart. Yes, it was true, Seth wasn’t her biological son. But they had asked her to play that role, hadn’t they asked Maeve to come along and pretend to be a mother to the boy? And now that she’s enjoying motherhood, why are these people busy keeping her away from Seth? After what they did to Seth just because the child was born to an Omega that the Elnathan family hated?
Then, why did they agree to Mateo’s wish to have Seth from that Omega?
Why were they so mean to Maeve and Seth?
