Chapter 1027: Chapter 831: Please Consider the Overall Situation
When Randeng stepped into the Pure and Majestic World, his infinite rage caused the temperature of the entire world to rise.
Shancai Tongzi immediately furrowed his brows and looked towards Randeng Buddha through the void.
At that moment, in front of Avalokitesvara’s Liantai, several of Avalokitesvara’s disciples also glared angrily in Randeng’s direction.
In the central lake of the Majestic World, several giant Golden Abalones revealed themselves from beneath the surface of the water.
"Let him come in," Avalokitesvara sighed softly and gently waved her horsetail whisk.
She not only restored the temperature of the little world to normal but also quelled the hostility and rage of everyone except Randeng in an instant.
And just moments later, Randeng Buddha arrived before Avalokitesvara.
"What is it that you intend to do?"
Randeng Buddha’s face was cold as ice, yet his aura burned fiercely like flames, "Are you planning to exclude me from Buddhism? Or perhaps treat me as a gift to curry favor with that mortal upstart? Would you have me pass away here and now to satisfy your wishes? The so-called fellowship within our ranks seems to be just like drifting clouds to you!"
Avalokitesvara replied with a serene smile, "Why so angry, my dear uncle? During the assembly in front of Shakya Muni Buddha, when I sought to attain the Buddha rank of ’Tathagata of Bright and Right Law’, you advised me, saying that my history in Buddhism was not deep enough, nor had I enabled the faithful to escape from the three disasters and four difficulties, to be free from the three poisons, and to fulfill the two careers. How then could I, in good conscience, achieve the Buddha rank? It is absolutely necessary to enlighten infinite sentient beings and cultivate three thousand great Bodhisattvas to achieve Buddha hood."
Randeng Buddha’s face stiffened, and his fiery aura diminished greatly.
He knew that Avalokitesvara was using her words to outmaneuver him. With such little regard for their fellowship from his own heart, how could he blame Avalokitesvara?
Back then, he believed that if Avalokitesvara were to attain the rank of ’Tathagata of Bright and Right Law’, it would surely push him out of his past Buddha position, which is why he obstructed it vigorously.
Since losing the Shendu, Buddhism’s power had greatly declined. How could it support so many Buddhas?
"About half a year ago, Li Xuan personally visited my temple and had a secret discussion with my Law Body. He said that under his governance, the population of Jin would increase by seventy percent within at most ten years.
In addition, within a year, Jin would wage war overseas, sweeping all regions within the territory of the First Emperor’s Seal. He would expel all the heretic gods and foreign teachings, handing those fertile lands and overseas people over to Buddhism and Taoism to share."
Avalokitesvara continued to smile at Randeng, "Not only did he say this to me, but Manjusri, Samantabhadra, Dizang, Fighting Buddha, Maitreya Buddha, and others have also heard of it. And four months ago, Great Master Lianhuasheng consulted Shakya Muni, wishing to bestow upon Li Xuan the Buddha title of ’Tathagata Emperor’. You are also aware of this, as you were decisively against it at the time."
Randeng Buddha felt a chill in his heart, his entire body growing cold.
All these matters Li Xuan had privately discussed with these great figures in Buddhism, he had heard nothing about them.
This indicated that he was in an extremely dangerous situation, perhaps even being ostracized by the entire Central Land Buddhism led by Avalokitesvara and Maitreya Buddha.
As for Great Master Lianhuasheng, he was the patriarch of Tibetan esoteric Buddhism and was also long-qualified for the Buddha rank.
His words and opinions carried significant weight in Buddhism.
Indeed, four months before, he had requested a Buddha title for Li Xuan.
Great Master Lianhuasheng believed Li Xuan’s reputation in Jin was esteemed, and as the food production in the Central Plains increased and various beneficial policies for the wellbeing of the people were implemented, his reputation among the common folk would only continue to flourish each day.
This was hardly a Buddha enemy but rather the ’Tathagata Emperor’—a Buddha who descended to the world to save the multitude from their sufferings.
Randeng Buddha was there at the time and outright rejected the idea alongside many other Bhikkhus infected with Shendu.
But thinking back on the situation now, he realized Shakya Muni’s attitude was quite suspicious.
The leader of all Buddhists maintained a neutral stance throughout and did not completely dismiss Great Master Lianhuasheng’s request, stating only to delay the discussion for later.
The attitudes of the Buddhas in the Central Plains toward the request were mostly silent and unspoken.
"I quite like a saying from the Xuanhuang Emperor: ’The Central Plains are too crowded, and the incense offerings are limited, hence the unending internal strife. But if we work together and focus outwardly, surely we can compete with the Taixu Heavens over the seas, and obtain sufficient foothold.’
In the past, I had advised you all that instead of entangling with Taoism in the Central Plains, it might be better to focus some efforts in Nanyang."
Avalokitesvara looked solemnly at Randeng Buddha, her eyes gleaming with an unusual light, "In the past our Buddhism could not adapt due to various reasons, but now you have seen Prince Fenyang’s methods with your own eyes. The mortal Court is invincible in both warfare and strategy, and with ships and cannons of great might, they could well protect the Law of our Buddhism."
Randeng couldn’t help but snort in anger, "So the mortal tribulations of our bhikkhus, you simply disregard them?"
"Uncle, you are delusional. The mortal Buddhism has many who shelter impurities, many bhikkhus act on personal intentions, having forgotten the Buddha’s teachings. Therefore, the True Spirit of ’Tathagata Emperor’ from the aeons before, descended to the mortal realm under Buddha’s command to purify. The tribulations of the mortal bhikkhus are the result of their karma, part of their spiritual practice."
Avalokitesvara shook her head slightly, "Our Buddhist aim is to enlighten all beings and liberate them from the boundless sea of suffering. We too can attain infinite blessings and extinguish innumerable sins through this. Why must you, uncle, forget the fundamental purpose of our Buddha for some petty grievances?"
At that moment, she smiled at Randeng, her body shining brightly with infinite Buddha Power.
"Uncle, you once told me that Buddhism faced difficult times and asked me to endure for the greater good. Now, I ask you to consider the overall situation of our Buddhism and to be patient as well."
