Demon Sword Sect’s Undercover
Chapter 322 - 322 321 Three Night Thunder Skill

322: Chapter 321 Three Night Thunder Skill 322: Chapter 321 Three Night Thunder Skill Thunder Skill, a method within the Daoist Sect, claims to summon wind and thunder, subdue demons, pray for rain, and stop floods and droughts.

Originating thousands of years ago, it was probably dominated by charlatans.

It flourished over a thousand years ago when the spiritual energy of the Jinxiu Continent was brimming, and Cultivation was on the rise.

Although Thunder Skill is profound, it is difficult to begin and even harder to master.

Hence, not many among the various sects of the Jinxiu Continent dabble in it, because it’s tough to get started.

No matter how formidable you might become in the future, if you can’t get past this initial hurdle, all future discussions are in vain.

Therefore, most have their own orthodox skills supplemented by the Thunder Skill, such as those taught by the Shenxiao and Qingwei sects, and the Donghua, Tianxin, and Zhengyi sects also practice them.

Among these, Tianxin is the foundation of the Wu Sect.

They advocate for inner refining to form elixirs and external methods for applying skills.

Thunder Skill integrates the inner core with talisman curses and spells.

It emphasizes contemplation, mental focus, inner core Cultivation, as well as rituals, talismans, and chants.

It’s a fusion of various skills of the Daoist Method but stresses that Cultivation of the inner core is the foundation, while the use of talisman curses and spells is the application.

The underlying philosophy is the theory of resonance between humans and nature, suggesting that the human body is a microcosm.

Each part of the body corresponds with the macrocosm—the head resembles heaven, the feet the earth, limbs the four seasons, and internal organs the Five Elements.

All of man’s essence, Qi, and spirit are in resonance with the universe.

From this, the concept developed further to integrate the microcosm of the human body within the Purple Mansion, forming a system that solidified over time.

Several famous Thunder Skills in the Jinxiu Continent are well-known and have been passed down for over a thousand years, such as the Qingwei Divine Secret Skill, Nine Heavens Ying Yuan Thunder Voice Universal Transformation Heavenly Sovereign Jade Pivot Treasure Scripture Collection Commentaries, Xuanzhu Song Commentaries, Sitting Refining Skill, Nine Daoist Methods, Inner Secret of Talisman, Innate Thunder Crystal Hidden Book, Secrets of Dongxuan, High Above Scenic Heaven Three and Five Mixed Dutian Great Thunder Lang Book, Dongxuan Yushu Thunderbolt Method, Shenxiao Cross Heavenly Scripture, and so on.

Of course, this includes the Quanzhen Sect’s Three Night Thunder Law.

Thunder is born from Yin Yang Qi, according to the numbers of the Five Elements in the Luoshu, “Three in the east, two in the south, one in the north, four in the west.

This is the ancestor of the great numbers, with five being in the center.” Because thunder operates amidst the Qi of heaven and earth, it is known as the Five Thunders.

In the Daoist Method, the Five Thunders correspond to the five internal organs.

When the Qi of the five organs congregates into one, you can reach the Great Dao and master the profound uses of the Five Thunders.

Then, the Five Organs are attributed to the Purple Mansion, resulting in the term Gathering Five Thunders.

When practicing Thunder Skill, there is the concept of establishing extremes, namely from Wuji comes Taiji.

Wuji signifies the primeval state, ‘The great Brahma in the vast ocean, expansive and lightless.’ From Wuji, when the primordial Hunyuan Innate Qi stirs, it gives rise to Taiji, ready for utilization.

This state is when the elixir Qi is abundant and active, ‘As soon as the Qi moves, wind, thunder, clouds, and rain all arise, and birds, beasts, mountains, and trees all thrive.’ It is the essence of ‘the Dao being the body of the law, and law being the function of the Dao.’

The entire structure of Thunder Skill is endlessly diverse, vast, and boundless.

Each Sect can only pick a portion to practice and obviously cannot cover every aspect of Thunder Skill.

Just like the numerous Cultivation Techniques of the Daoist Sects, simply categorized, there are dozens of branches on the Jinxiu Continent, and that’s only a very small part.

Specific to Thunder Skill, the Five Thunders are respectively: Heavenly Thunder, Earth Thunder, Water Thunder, Divine Thunder, and She Thunder.

Heavenly Thunder governs the Four Seasons of Heavenly Order, generates all living things, controls disasters, decapitates celestial demons, eradicates epidemics, captures unruly spirits, aids childbirth, and cures major illnesses;

Earth Thunder oversees the birth of all beings, nourishes crops, sweeps away locusts, slays mountain spirits and stone monsters, clears miasmas and mists, releases trapped souls, regulates earthly energy, and prays for favorable weather;

Water Thunder, also known as “Dragon Thunder,” commands the thunder to bring rain, saves drought-stricken areas, cuts off flood dragons, venomous snakes, evil clams, and spirits, stirs wind and clouds, and manages the affairs of the water realms;

Divine Thunder specializes in destruction, targeting improper ritual gods, inciting demons and trespassers, Buddha temples, pagodas, houses, scenic architecture, mountain spirits, and people;

She Thunder, also known as “Demon Thunder,” targets ancient spirited artifacts, suppresses ancient energies, destroys altars, and breaks temples.

If one cannot practice Heavenly or Earth Thunder, that is a realm so high that it stands from a perspective of one star to one realm of the Great Dao.

The so-called “Three Night Thunder Skill” is the method concerning Water Thunder, Divine Thunder, and She Thunder.

This is the choice among all Thunder Cultivation Sects in the Cultivation World.

Within the method, each has its own emphasis and derivations.

The practice of Thunder Skill stresses the importance of real cultivation and is also reflected in the creation of talismans.

However, the Quanzhen Sect does not create talismans, and instead uses Flying Swords as a substitute.

To harness thunder with the sword is the Quanzhen Sect’s transformation and adaptation of the Thunder Skill, which adds the ferocious power of thunder to the sharpness of the Flying Sword; theoretically, this is a very exquisite combination of skills, but due to the difficulty of mastering Thunder Skill, there are very few who succeed.

The contradiction lies in how a Sword Cultivator can get through this lengthy learning period?

Should one seclude oneself for decades and solely focus on the cultivation of Thunder Skill?

It remains unknown whether the Thunder Skill can be mastered, but the person would surely become obsolete through seclusion.

Cultivation is not about observing the world from the bottom of a well, nor about blindly tinkering behind closed doors.

All experiences during the cultivation process are indispensable parts of a cultivator’s advancement, including fulfilling duties, traveling, socializing, fighting, life and death…

These things are not skills, yet they surpass skills.

A complete resume can shape a complete perspective on cultivation.

Otherwise, how can one comprehend the Great Dao?

It is precisely because Thunder Skill is too impractical and too difficult to utilize at the early stage that the vast majority of cultivators avoid it.

It’s not that they don’t want to, but they simply can’t.

One must first survive before anything else.

Take Hou Niao as an example, even though his Five Elements Attribute is very suitable for the Thunder Skill, he still made no progress in Thunder Skill after two years, which directly reflects the difficulty of the Thunder Skill.

After two years, believing he was fully prepared and the time was right, he finally arrived at the Thunder Triangle, ready to formally cultivate the Thunder Skill.

The cultivation of the Thunder Skill particularly emphasizes the cultivation of the Dantian and advocates for the “union of the Taoist Body and its application.” That is, once the Dantian unites with the Dao to form the foundation, its power can manifest outward, creating various divine abilities and profound techniques.

Once the Dantian is realized, it is filled with Innate Qi.

This Innate Qi is also referred to as the Ancestral Innate Qi, the Primordial Qi.

The Daoist Sects talk about “One Qi transforming into The Three Pure Ones,” and this Qi is the Primordial Qi, which is the Dao.

Heaven and earth experience myriad changes with this one Qi.

Humans, being the most spiritually aware beings amongst all creatures, can attune to heaven and earth, compel ghosts and gods, summon winds, rains, thunder, and lightning, and reach anything with it.

That is to say, when Hou Niao truly begins cultivating the Thunder Skill, his two Dantians will gradually develop attributes, the attributes of thunder.

Then, he will slowly channel the attributes of thunder into the Purple Mansion, and by that time, his every move will naturally generate thunder.

Of course, this belongs to a distant future.

His current goal is to be able to draw in the power of thunder to temper his Dantian, which is the beginning of the Thunder Skill.

Sitting cross-legged with a focused mind, Qi returning to the Dantian, spirit hidden in the Niwan Palace, the Purple Mansion stirring, the Flying Sword swiftly emerges, twisting and spiraling gracefully…

Once he felt his state was stable and his vital energy was dense and strong, and his body was in optimal condition, he launched the Flying Sword, confronting a splintered thunder residual force as it descended.

When sword met thunder, sparks flew in all directions.

Hou Niao felt a tumultuous tremble inside his Purple Mansion, both his Dantians vibrated in unison, and his entire mana was on the verge of collapse.

This was the most critical moment; he could only clench his teeth and persist.

Fortunately, the power of the thunder was fleeting, vanishing immediately after the collision.

The Flying Sword quickly retracted into his body, returning to the Purple Mansion.

Hou Niao focused and meticulously observed, began to nurture and warm his energy, and pondered the gains and losses of this attempt to harness the thunder.
