Chapter 580: Demon Empress Yumiko – Miko of Death

The illusion shattered, the moment her aura exploded, a howl filled the entire cavern, and Levia’s body flung back after being hit by the monster. At the sudden change, she snapped towards the massive energy.

“Asmodeus!? Eh…? Y…Yumiko?”

His first lover, first wife and the first woman to give birth to his child. The Demon Emperors’ Shrine Maiden and first Empress awakened.

A divine aura flowed from her body.

Mana rapidly converted into a golden essence that danced through the air like smoke and flowers, filling the ground with sakura blossoms with each step she took.

She reached the limit of her power without the help of Serena, thanks to her innate divinity as the shrine maiden serving Asmodeus, the Emperor of Carnal Sin.

“Y-You!” A low growl left the beast’s mouth, her fur silver shining like the moonlight with sharp blue eyes that could pierce the veil itself. Able to see all the unclean and falsities in the world with nine fluttering tails, finally reaching ten.

Yumiko’s form became that of an ethereal silver fox, her body fluttering with moonlight.

“Leviathan, protect your master.”

A regal voice, filled with dignity and power… one which sent chills down the spine of Leviathan, who bowed and moved toward the pillar holding Asmodeus. “I will do so, Empress Yumiko.”

Her golden eyes narrowed on the sliver of Mephisto’s power, who still retained their massive size and shape.

“You aren’t him.”

The deformed monstrosity facing her flinched the moment her shimmering eyes fell upon it.

“How dare you show your hideous form before me!”

“Who are you? You’re just a stupid fox!” The monster screamed at her, but she remained calm as ever, unfazed by such threats.

Four arms, made of a dark, black ooze, dripping with corruption. Each limb had claws at the ends that reached down to the ground below, with strange mouths in the centre of each palm featuring jagged, shark-like teeth.

A twisted lower body, trailing along its length, while it slithered across the ground towards her with limp legs. Two sets of wings flapped behind its back, sending gusts of wind throughout the area.

A true monstrosity.

“I am Empress Yumiko, wife of Demon Emperor Asmodeus, and mother to his child! A mere revenant stands before me, the Miko of Death and Rebirth!”

Yumiko’s voice was calm yet determined, her eyes filled with determination and resolve as she stared at the monstrosity before her.

Each time she spoke, the sound of prayer bells jingled as if her movements were part of a divine ritual or dance. The aura pulsing from her body was shaking the pillars holding Asmodeus and Velvet.

She stomped her front paws into the ground, sending out shockwaves that shook everything around her. Her tails glowed brightly as they moved gracefully behind her body. As each one fluttered up and down like feathers caught by a gentle breeze, she seemed more angelic than before.

However, that was a ruse.

“Filthy demon! You dare steal his domain!?” The monster became berserk when she mentioned the word “death.”

It rushed forward without any hesitation, its arms extended outward. It roared with fury and anger, ready to tear apart anyone who dared to challenge its master’s power… but instead of attacking her directly, it swiped at the pillars where her loved ones rested.

Yumiko sucked in the dirty air, her cheeks swelling before she finally howled.

A haunting melody filled the cavern, as if thousands of people had begun singing a song known only to a few.

Her nine tails swayed up and down in tandem, creating an ethereal rhythm as she moved back and forth, side to side, in harmony with her movements. The force of her voice became like a blade, deflecting the monster’s arms and ripping and tearing the fleshy tendrils apart.

“Wench!”

The monster screamed at her, but it didn’t stop moving. Instead, it tried to attack Yumiko again with another swipe, and once again failed… this time because Levia blocked him.

“Go back to sleep!” She bellowed before raising her shield high above her head. “Rise.” The ground trembled before erupting into several sharp spikes of rock that pierced through the monster, causing its body to burst into blood and gore.

The filthy, black, corrupted blood spurted across the ground, melting and dissolving the living flowers and the light created by Yumiko.

“As expected… a shard of divinity is difficult to destroy.” Yumiko’s feral voice reverberated as she lowered her front and shook her rear, gathering aura around her claws and fangs. “Then I will Devour you whole!”

The monster howled once more.

Levia raised her shield and swung it forward to send out a massive gust of wind. It was enough to push back some of the monstrous tendrils, but not all of them, as one stabbed through her armour, piercing her stomach.

“Ack!?”

Blood oozed from her lips as the tendril curled and yanked at the wound.

But it was enough!

Yumiko’s body burst forward, like a beast, and she assaulted the gigantic monster.

Its skin split apart with ease under her claws, ripping off entire chunks of flesh from its chest. Her teeth dug into the creature’s neck, tearing off pieces of meat with each bite and swallowing. The monster wailed and screamed, the sound like a banshee’s wail.

The devoured meat didn’t heal… unlike the wounds she had clawed, which slowly regenerated.

“Argh!” The monstrosity cried out in pain, desperately attempting to pull away from the vixen’s grasp. Her jaws were just far stronger and kept tearing away at it relentlessly until finally it collapsed onto its backside.

“You hurt my beloved, used my dear daughter!”

A low groan, like blades dragged through her throat as Yumiko’s fangs tore more and more of the divinity from this foul mutant.

Yumiko devoured a large part of the monster’s face to partially reveal a familiar woman… but the corruption wrapped around her once again.

Boom!

With a desperate kick, the monster sank both feet into Yumiko’s abdomen, sending her flying into the black pillars, with a loud cracking sound.

She coughed up blood and fell on all fours. Her tail still swayed back and forth as if dancing as she slowly got back up on her paws.

The monster slithered around on its belly, trying to reach out for another pillar where Asmodeus lay… unable to retain its huge form, it became a smaller abomination, with countless mouths on its abdomen.

“Filthy demons… you all deserve to die!” Its voice was weak now, barely audible over the wind blowing through the caverns. “Traitors, betraying our true master!”

“Nonsense! Asmodeus is the only master I declare it!”

“WHO ARE YOU TO DECLARE ANYTHING DOG!”

With those words, the monster launched itself at Yumiko once again, this time aiming straight for her throat instead of her head. It latched onto her neck.

Squelch! With a violent bite, its teeth sank into her flesh. Using one of its mouths to suck the life out of her while another mouth opened wide and spat an acid-like substance all over her fur coat… burning her skin underneath.

She howled loudly before rolling over, her claws slashing, cutting and yanking at the monster’s flesh, tearing large amounts from her body. The two rolled across the ground until they landed on their sides.

Yumiko struggled to break free from its grasp while also continuing to shred the monster, but her claws couldn’t reach the most vulnerable areas without risking her safety in the process.

“Enough!”

Her eyes shone with a silver light as she tore her neck away from the mouth, a massive chunk of flesh torn free along with part of her golden fur. Blood oozed down across her shoulders.

Her teeth sharpened with a faint layer of frost, as she tackled the monster headfirst… The sharp fangs of the miko tearing straight through the hard scales and muscle that protected its vital organs.

The creature screamed in agony, thrashing wildly, trying desperately to escape this new torment, but to no avail. The monster’s eyes glowed brightly as it screamed at Yumiko and cursed her.

“Traitor… you’re just… as foolish… as HIM!”

The monster slithered free, leaving behind a mass of black blood as it tried to escape the shrine maiden, its tail melting away bit by bit from the divine energy oozing from her jaws.

But Yumiko’s paw slammed on the monster’s back, her eyes narrowed into thin slits. Anger boiling. She opened her bloodied maw, and it trembled for the first time in fear.

“Lord Mephisto… save me!”

Desperation and despair echoed through the cave… but its pleas would remain unanswered as Yumiko swallowed it whole…

A crunch sound from shattered bone…

And the loud thuds of torn flesh… and… Silence.

All the darkness swallowed into her belly, the massive fox staggered, and fell onto its size.

Although she entered her empress state, she couldn’t use her magic like she wished… There wasn’t enough divinity in her blood.

“Asmodeus… your Empress is exhausted.”

The vixen shook her head and huffed…

Before she collapsed, the giant fox shrank into a small silver fox with golden flecks on the tip of her tail. She curled into a ball and landed in the chest of Asmodeus.

With only Levia remaining awake.

But neither of them noticed the small black star that formed on her forehead and slowly faded, as her body concealed the aura of Mephisto’s divinity, which she devoured.
