Chapter 97: Chapter 97 Your IQ Might Not Be Enough
"We found hidden passageways on the third level. Ghosts roamed those passages. We defeated a Blue Ghost and gained a powerful buff, which significantly increased our efficiency against the Bull-headed Monster.
Then, the captain suggested hunting more ghosts, and we killed quite a few, eventually making our way to a center of the third level walled on all sides.
There was a peculiar Bull-headed Monster there, wearing strange armor.
With our numerous buffs, we almost instantly killed that Bull-headed Monster. It dropped a large amount of Equipment and a strange ring.
As soon as our captain picked up that ring, everyone was teleported to a special space.
There, a huge monster that asked questions awaited us.
With the many buffs, our captain thought the monster before us would also be easily defeated, they charged forward, but before their sword even touched the monster, they all turned to ashes...
In the end, only I survived..."
At this point, Calugada bitterly lowered his head, tears streaming down.
Calugada’s words were ambiguous in many places. Yang Yu tried hard to integrate the information in his speech, picking out key questions to continue asking.
"What was the question posed by the monster?" "What does the strange armor and the strange ring look like?" "How did you find the hidden passageways?"
Facing Yang Yu’s questions, Calugada shook his head to all, either answering with "I don’t know, I don’t know" or "That was the captain’s doing."
It appeared he truly did not know.
No matter how much more he asked, Yang Yu got no more useful information. He gave Calugada some food and water, pointed him towards the town, and let Calugada leave on his own.
Watching Calugada wolf down the food and flee the underground city, Yang Yu sighed; he had forgotten to ask Calugada to transfer his Experience Value to him...
"Forget it, he just lost important companions; let’s not be unjust this time. We’ll talk the next time we meet."
Yang Yu shifted his gaze towards Bai Jin and Iyas beside him, "Bai Jin, Iyas, we’ll set up camp here."
"We can still make it back now, right? There’s no need to camp in a place like this," Iyas said, looking at Yang Yu. Yang Yu’s expression clearly indicated he was plotting something. Although she didn’t know what he was scheming, it definitely wasn’t anything good, "Didn’t you say those were monsters we couldn’t handle? You’re not suddenly changing your mind, are you?"
"That could be said." Yang Yu smiled, pulling various things out of the System and laying them out on the ground.
"Why so sudden?"
"Probably because this underground city might be a relatively easier one to clear."
"Clear? Didn’t you hear what that man just said? There are monsters here that can kill instantly! Plus, they kill without being touched by a sword; I don’t think we can handle it!"
Iyas shivered just recalling the dark aura emanating from inside the underground city. Hearing Calugada’s account, she did not want to step into that underground city for a second time.
"It’s precisely because it is a monster that can kill instantly that we might be able to strategize against it."
Yang Yu smiled, planting a pot of Clover. The moment He Meng saw it, he immediately leaped out of Bai Jin’s hood and devoured it eagerly.
"Your words are not clear! Start explaining from the beginning."
Iyas didn’t know where Yang Yu’s confidence came from, but she believed it must be based on something.
She was very curious.
Curious about what Yang Yu had discovered.
However, Yang Yu did not answer any of her questions; he merely smiled at her, took out bread and dried meat, and shared it with her,
"Come with me, and you’ll find out. Eat up and rest a bit. We’ll move at midnight. It’s okay if you don’t come along, I can probably handle it alone. You guys should find a safe place to hide, especially you, Iyas. Beware of any adventurers that might have ill intentions."
"Huh? As if I didn’t know that." Iyas sulked and bit into her bread, "In the end, you still don’t want to tell me what you’ve noticed, do you?"
Yang Yu smiled and remained silent.
Bai Jin gently tugged at Yang Yu’s sleeve, "I’ll go with you. I’m sure I can be of use."
Don’t give me that "if you don’t let me go, I’ll curse you for life" look. I’m not really going to leave you behind, especially not you, Bai Jin. I’ve been dragging you up to level 30; the one who shouldn’t be running is you.
"That’s fine, I’ll take you to see the big scene. It might increase your mental capacity."
"That way you put it, sounds like you think I have no mental capacity at all." Iyas, chewing the dry bread, glared fiercely at Yang Yu.
Yang Yu glared back at Iyas. "Isn’t that the case? Are you coming or not? If not, get lost."
"You... Really! Fine, I’ll come, okay?"
Being a skilled Elf Warrior, Iyas would not easily admit defeat.
To hell with feeling intimidated, I refuse to believe I can’t be braver than this man!
...
The night deepened, the moon and stars faint.
Stamina nearly restored, Yang Yu lit a torch and entered the Hall of Wisdom again.
Following the staircase downward, they finally reached the third level of the underground city. However, the previous fork in the path seemed to have vanished completely.
Iyas immediately ran over and tapped on the wall where the fork had been, the "clack" echo unending, causing Iyas to suddenly doubt her life decisions.
The wall was real. Could it be that the path that had been there before was fake?
She looked at Yang Yu, whose calm gaze seemed to tell her not to make a big deal out of it.
Normal my ass, a huge passage just disappeared like that, are you guys not worried at all?
"Nervous my ass! Iyas, make your expressions more natural. If we want to conquer this Hall of Wisdom, it will take a lot of time and brain power. You might not be smart enough. If something magical happens, please stay calm."
Iyas suddenly couldn’t understand what Yang Yu was talking about. "Huh? What are you even saying? What magical thing?"
Yang Yu couldn’t be bothered to explain too much to Iyas, he just asked Bai Jin and Iyas to stay put and retraced the path they had taken the first time. Then, he returned to where the two were and walked up to the wall Iyas had been tapping, reaching out his hand.
Then, something shocking occurred.
Yang Yu’s hand actually passed right through the wall, his whole body moving through it as if it had no substance at all.
Iyas hurriedly walked to the wall, reached out her hand, but only touched the cold wall.
At that moment, Yang Yu seemed to suddenly vanish from the mortal world.
