Chapter 396: Defection
Chapter 396: Chapter 396: Defection
With the increase in his own attributes, Yang Yu found it increasingly difficult to meet the activation conditions for "Sudden Killing Intent" compared to the past.
When facing a formidable enemy, he had to worry whether he would be instantly killed in one combo, as taking too much damage could lead to a dangerously low Blood Volume, greatly limiting his maneuverability.
When facing lesser foes, if he wanted to rely on Speed to clear them quickly, hitting them one by one was too slow.
Both of these issues could be completely resolved with the "Double-sided Slash," a Skill that could control Blood Volume.
Originally being pursued, Yang Yu had thought of securing another Skill that also required managing Blood Volume before slowly acquiring this one.
Now that he was here, there was no need to wait until later.
An orange Sword Blade swept upward across Lund’s torso, and Lund spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. The crimson fluid trailed down his neck, and upon looking at Yang Yu again, Lund’s eyes ignited with endless Killing Intent.
Only Iyas and Bai Jin were required to be captured alive, Yang Yu was not on that list, so killing him wouldn’t pose any problems.
A hint of red flashed in Lund’s eyes as he once again initiated Berserk, erupting with a terrifying aura. Both his Speed and Attack soared as the Meteor Hammer he wielded suddenly grew larger. Accompanying Lund’s attacks, it split into three in the air.
Yang Yu naturally knew the Skill Lund was using.
In the game, he had encountered various final bosses, including one experience where he had been fighting a boss, confident that the boss’s Attack wouldn’t reach him, only to be swept away by a tail swipe and killed.
Thus, he was particularly cautious of Skills like "Attack Extension" that increased attack range, to prevent a final boss from suddenly leaping out and sending him soaring.
The "Attack Extension" not only increased the range of the next attack but also briefly increased Strength by 10%, making it quite tricky to deal with.
"Triple Attack" may seem like a powerful Skill at first glance, but in reality, since the split attacks are temporarily formed from Magic Power in the air, they can only cause 50% of the main body’s damage.
This type of attack was only sufficient to deal with the likes of high-speed, fragile individuals like Iyas. For a sturdy warrior like Yang Yu, it was as if someone had stripped him down and invited others to take their turn.
How could Yang Yu politely refuse such a cordial invitation from Lund?
Ignoring the exploding ice shards and the Underground Bounty Hunters caught in the blast, Yang Yu charged towards Lund on the rapidly shattering ice.
Lund opened his mouth wide and took a deep breath, unleashing the "Battle Roar."
The loud sound was deafening, but Yang Yu did not pause for a moment due to the noise. He mercilessly swung his blade, not cutting anywhere else but deepening the wound he had just inflicted.
Even though his attribute points increased progressively more after surpassing Level 50, as a Civilian, he was destined not to have strong growth potential.
The increase went from one to three points per Level, to three to four, but still fell short.
Warriors whose Strength did not exceed 200 after Level 50 were a rare sight, and those whose Speed could surpass 300, approaching 400, were anomalies among anomalies.
High Speed, low Attack, and a large Blood Volume often created awkward situations common in games—the ultimate "tickling match."
But as the saying goes, there’s a method to every kind of fight, including a tickling match.
Now Yang Yu had successfully created two wounds, and those wounds were continuously bleeding, putting Lund in a Bleeding state.
In this world, as long as damage was continuously applied to a wound during combat, the Bleeding status could be sustained.
Yang Yu had never expected his Attacks to cause significant damage from the start. He was simply attacking Lund’s wounds to Refresh the duration of the Bleeding state, then waiting for his Skill cooldown to refresh before opening new wounds.
Lund swung his Meteor Hammer wildly, releasing Skills towards Yang Yu, while Yang Yu danced atop the increasingly fractured ice, skillfully dodging every attack.
After coming out of the All Things Library, Yang Yu had changed.
He was now more adept at battle, having familiarized himself with most of the skills in this world.
The only thing he needed to be cautious of were skills that were only recorded in the library without detailed explanations, like the former Hero’s Instant Kill "Sky-breaking Restart."
Yang Yu knew it was a skill that caused damage and weakened the enemy in every aspect when used, but he knew nothing else about it.
According to current intelligence, the skills used by the Demon Clan and the people of this world were mostly interchangeable, but it was inevitable that the Demon Clan would pull out some strange and bizarre skills from their sleeves.
For the time being, however, Yang Yu, knowing the vast majority of skills in this world, was more than enough to rise above and sail smoothly through the middle stage.
Lund poured out skills like a madman, and Yang Yu either dodged or withstood them, coolly making the best decisions.
Yang Yu, completely outmatched in attributes by Lund, surprisingly fought him to a standstill, and the frozen ice blocks also turned back into sewage under their clash.
Standing in the sewage, Lund gasped for breath heavily, his body covered in blood. Fighting Iyas had already drained a lot of his stamina, and now after this battle with Yang Yu, an unprecedented fatigue overwhelmed him.
Lund couldn’t remember the last time he had felt so drained.
In contrast, Yang Yu did not even seem to be out of breath.
For Yang Yu, who had primarily invested attribute points in Endurance, the stamina he had just expended was hardly worth mentioning.
Lund glanced at Iyas, who had fallen at some unknown time, then looked down at his wounds. He knew that he couldn’t defeat Yang Yu as he was now.
"Back there, you Bounty Hunters who want this kid’s bounty, I’ve already exhausted a lot of his stamina. If you swarm him, you’ll definitely be able to push this kid into the sewage and give him a good dunking!"
The sound of footsteps wading through the sewage came from behind, and a hint of a smile appeared on the tired face beneath Lund’s Knight Helmet.
Even if Yang Yu had extraordinary awareness, with so many people eying him and swarming, he would be completely unable to defend himself, and that would be when Lund could seize the chance to restore his honor.
Yang Yu too revealed a smile, raising his voice, "Can’t beat me alone, so you resort to mob tactics? I really want to see what other tricks you have up your sleeves."
Yang Yu’s voice reached deep into the sewer, and a figure stirred into action, lifting her Magic Wand to prepare a new spell.
"What’s wrong with mob tactics if they lead to victory? That’s just how unreasonable this society is."
As soon as Lund finished speaking, a searing pain spread across his back, and three swords mercilessly pierced through Lund’s abdomen from behind.
Eyes rolling in disbelief, Lund looked back at the three Underground Bounty Hunters,
"What on earth are you doing!"
Lund’s icy question was met with an equally cold response,
"Don’t casually treat us as your subordinates.
We’re not going to obediently follow your orders, and besides, your recent attack almost dragged us into it.
This is all your own doing."
The three Bounty Hunters released their grip on the swords and stepped aside, afterward, a man wielding a Shield Axe charged from a distance and landed an axe blow on Lund’s back.
