Chapter 368: Chapter 368: She Can’t Understand Human Speech Anymore

Since Iyas had joined their team, it had been a long while since Bai Jin had spent time alone with Yang Yu as they were now.

Initially, Bai Jin didn’t know how to deal with Iyas, the Elf Girl who naturally intimidated her.

But day by day, the two of them found a balance and became friendly friends.

For Bai Jin, this was also her first female friend.

"Bai Jin, I’ll just be frank, how do you think Iyas has been lately?"

Yang Yu faced Bai Jin, yet he turned his back to Iyas and got straight to the point with his question.

Looking at Iyas who was glancing around not too far away, Bai Jin shared her thoughts, "To be honest, I feel that Iyas has been growing more and more irritable recently, she’s completely changed from how she used to be.

However, it’s related to her experience. Having endured what she did, and with important people missing, that kind of pain is difficult for most to bear.

Now that she has finally found a clue, it’s understandable why she would act this way."

As she spoke, Bai Jin clenched her Magic Wand,

"I too once had someone important to me. There were times when, upon seeing a chance to make that important person better, I pursued hope recklessly..."

"That doesn’t justify her not following commands, though I haven’t said it before, you should be aware of the risks of our adventure... You should know our current situation.

Sometimes, understandable reasons cannot be used as excuses to absolve oneself."

Each word that came out of Yang Yu’s mouth was resolute, causing Bai Jin to lower her head even more.

She understood what Yang Yu meant. Yang Yu was strong, but not strong enough to single-handedly control everything, there were still greater powers above him.

When the Demon King Descent arrives, they might just be ants, trivially crushed at will.

Yang Yu’s strategy had always been clear, to form a reliable team to confront this disaster together.

Bai Jin had worked so hard up till now precisely to keep up with the team, to become the team member she hoped to be, one who could assist Yang Yu.

A team member capable of combating the disaster certainly wouldn’t be someone who would affect the team’s morale or cause conflicts within the team at crucial moments.

"Yang Yu, can we handle this like before, using your eloquence to make Iyas realize her mistakes, just like when we first met?"

Yang Yu shook his head, "Back then, she was naive, unaware of the ways of the world, but now she has become arrogant. You’ve seen it, she’s too stubborn, overly fixated, and no longer listens to reason.

Maybe I should learn the elvish language, maybe then there might be a chance."

"So you’re saying there’s no way out... If something happens on the road because of Iyas, what would you do, Yang Yu?"

After a moment of Silence, Yang Yu replied with absolute certainty: "What I would do, would probably be the same as what you would do."

Then, Yang Yu turned towards Bai Jin with a smile.

"So, if something truly unacceptable happens in the future, just follow your heart and do what you think is right. You might be able to help me."

"Is that so... Indeed, there are things only a woman like me can do, but before that, I will try to calm Iyas down with my own thoughts and methods."

Bai Jin answered firmly, raising her head to look at Iyas. However, Iyas, like throwing a bucket of cold water at Bai Jin, looked around and chased after someone abruptly, leaving them behind.

"Over here..."

Following a fleeing stranger, Iyas entered a narrow alley, which was a dead end.

The stranger flailed his hands against the wall in a panic, and eventually, could only turn around to face Iyas, who had drawn her bow, raising his hands.

"Hey, hey, hey, miss, you’re quite fiery. What do you want chasing after me like this? Did my good looks catch your eye, and you want to make friends? My name’s Fire Dragon Fruit. May I ask for your name?"

Iyas pulled back the bowstring further and stepped closer to the man who called himself Fire Dragon Fruit. She demanded loudly, "Don’t play dumb, have you been following me?"

Fire Dragon Fruit scoffed, "Following? What are you joking about? How could I possibly do such a thing? I am a straightforward and upright gentleman, not someone who sneaks around."

Iyas released the string, and an arrow shot out, piercing through Fire Dragon Fruit’s right shoulder’s clothing, pinning him to the wall, "This is a warning. Next time it won’t just be your clothing that’s pierced. Speak, what are your intentions!"

Faced with Iyas’s naked interrogation, Fire Dragon Fruit remained calm under pressure, a hint of composure on his face. Suddenly, Iyas heard footsteps from behind, and then, two arms swooshed through the air.

Iyas rolled forward to dodge the attack, pulled an arrow from her quiver, and turned back to face her assailants.

To Iyas’s surprise, it wasn’t just one person attacking her—there was an attack from both sides by two people, and four more figures emerged from behind them.

Fire Dragon Fruit nonchalantly pulled the arrow from his shoulder and threw it on the ground, "Take a good look around you. Do you think you can still talk to me like that? Understand your place, woman!"

Iyas clenched her teeth. If it had been in a dense forest, handling seven people at once wouldn’t be a problem, but this narrow terrain didn’t showcase the advantages of Iyas the Archer.

A burly man cracked his knuckles, "Little girl, don’t be scared. We are not here to cause you trouble.

We just need your cooperation. You seem to be friends with those two, and if you help us lure them out, we promise to let you go once it’s all done, even offering a small tip for your trouble.

Those two guys are quite notorious on the bounty list; you won’t miss out on your share."

"Kiwi, stop wasting time with her. Don’t hold back because of your pity for the fairer sex! Women like her won’t cooperate easily—grab her!"

Fire Dragon Fruit urged impatiently, and the man known as Kiwi complained, "Doesn’t even listen," and together with another muscular man, lunged at Iyas.

The other four people blocked the entrance of the alley, preventing anyone from entering.

Iyas took a deep breath and shot an arrow at the approaching burly man’s chest. Kiwi’s hand glowed with a green light and he used a technique called "Undying Grasp" to firmly catch Iyas’s arrow and crush it to pieces.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Iyas quickly drew her bowstring again. An arrow made of Holy Light appeared between the bowstring, a streak of luminance flashed under the shadows of the town, only to be blocked by Kiwi’s green-glowing hand blade.
