Chapter 364: Chapter 364: I Didn’t Lie
"You’re saying you didn’t see anyone else enter the last layer—is that a lie?"
Wanjing Zhuhua’s glasses reflected a glare that Yang Yu found somewhat blinding, yet he didn’t shift his gaze,
"I haven’t lied one bit, I truly didn’t see anyone else enter.
Moreover, there are many skills and tools in this world that can hide one’s form.
As long as they use these things, even if they passed by right in front of my eyes without anyone noticing, I wouldn’t be aware of it."
Watching the smile on Yang Yu’s face, Wanjing Zhuhua remained silent.
She had initially intended to demonstrate her overwhelming magic power to instill fear in Yang Yu and make him confess everything he knew.
But to her surprise, Yang Yu was completely unfazed by her influence, responding to her interrogation with utter calmness.
Before coming here, Wanjing Zhuhua and Gordon had already confirmed the situation on the last layer.
There had indeed been a fight on the last layer, and the barrier they had left behind had been broken.
What was strange was that, although the door had been opened, the treasure behind it was left untouched.
What surprised them even more was the skeleton seated on the throne had not been disturbed by anyone.
You should know that the skeleton wore many treasures of immeasurable value. Normally, when people see a skeleton on a throne, they would subconsciously think the treasures on the skeleton are the most valuable and end up damaging the skeleton to take the valuables.
Anyone coming across it by chance would also definitely be interested in the skeleton, attempting to get something from it, hence fiddling with the skeleton and leaving traces.
This state, where it hadn’t been moved at all, was truly suspicious.
Despite really wanting to suspect that it was Yang Yu and his group who had defeated the spider and opened the door, Wanjing Zhuhua from Red Blood Rose had no sufficient evidence to prove that they had done so.
Even if it was them, Wanjing Zhuhua couldn’t find a reason to explain how they could walk out of the Underground Maze so calmly without taking any treasure or why they would only take an insignificant amount from piles of treasure.
No, there was another reason.
Yang Yu and his group might have known all along that they were coming, so they arranged the scene to look as if no one had been there.
But could they really do that?
Having defeated a demon that was far beyond their level, could they really maintain their integrity in the face of such a mountain of treasure and proceed as normal?
With multiple questions piling up, the more Wanjing Zhuhua thought, the less she believed that it was Yang Yu and his group who had opened the door.
"We’ve finished our questioning, thank you for your time. This is your reward."
Wanjing placed several gold coins with a denomination of one thousand on the table and then stood up with Gordon. Yang Yu called out to them and pushed the gold coins back,
"Wait, I also have some questions and would like to ask you. As long as you can answer my questions, I won’t need any reward from you."
Out of politeness, Gordon replied, "What’s the question?"
Yang Yu hesitated for a moment before cautiously moving closer to the two and asked in a whisper:
"...I might be wrong, but based on the information I’ve gathered, isn’t it most likely that you’re from Red Blood Rose?"
Gordon’s heart skipped a beat, "Why would you think that?"
Yang Yu replied with a smile, "Well, after all, you’re so concerned with the Tenth floor..."
"From what I know, only the people from Red Blood Rose have reached the Tenth floor, and they certainly have access to high-level magicians, so setting up a Barrier should be a relatively easy task.
If the Barrier were broken, it would be natural for them to want to gather information about the Tenth floor.
If you are truly from Red Blood Rose, then could you give us a chance when our strength is sufficient in the future?
We will help you investigate this matter too."
Looking at Yang Yu’s smiling expression, Gordon firmly denied it,
"We are not from Red Blood Rose, but we were indeed entrusted by them to come and investigate this matter.
No offense, but with your current strength, you can’t join Red Blood Rose. That’s all we will discuss for now. We have other matters to attend to and must be going."
After finishing, Gordon swiftly left with Wanjing Zhuhua.
...
...
Taking to the air, the two from Red Blood Rose returned under cover of night.
Gordon asked Wanjing Zhuhua,
"Sister Ajing, what do you think? Who do you suppose opened that door, and what was their purpose?"
Sister Ajing shook her head, "I don’t know, but it probably has something to do with that strange spider. I’ve never seen such a demon before, and it wasn’t present when we attempted the strategy last time. I’ve collected some samples for Sena to identify."
"If Sena sees those samples, she’s probably going to get curious and start asking all sorts of questions."
A hint of a smile crept across Gordon’s youthful face,
"You said it might have something to do with that strange spider, and I agree.
Could it be possible that those people noticed the spider’s presence and came specifically to deal with it?
They just happened to have the key to open that door and went ahead to open it completely.
But those people had no interest in treasures, and upon seeing the wealth inside, they immediately lost interest and left as they came."
"That’s certainly a possibility, people who have no interest in treasures at all. There’s at least one group like that... the Curse Sect, a very troublesome bunch. If it was their test subject that escaped and they came to deal with it, that would make sense."
Sister Ajing seemed to recall some unpleasant memories, frowning slightly,
"If they’re becoming active again, I suppose we could expect to receive tasks from the royal capital to subjugate them, but although most of them are thoroughly corrupt, I don’t want to bury them with my own hands..."
"The topic suddenly seems to have turned grim. Even if we don’t take on the task of subduing them, someone else will. There’s another S-level adventure group in this country, and it should be easy for them to handle it."
"S-level adventure group Immortal Vajra... Those guys are also quite troublesome. When two troublesome groups collide, it only makes things worse. To prevent the situation from deteriorating, I guess we have to intervene."
Seeing Sister Ajing sigh, Gordon tried to steer the conversation in a different direction,
"Look on the bright side, maybe it was the group we just met who defeated that spider and opened that door. To avoid drawing attention, they quietly took just a little treasure out."
"There’s that possibility, but judging from that man’s demeanor, it’s so unlikely that it’s barely worth considering. Unless there is some decisive proof that they indeed opened that door..."
Right now, there’s no definitive evidence that proves it was Yang Yu’s team that opened the door, so they must continue to consider other possibilities.
And Yang Yu accurately grasped this fact, keeping the team restrained.
Without evidence, Red Blood Rose wouldn’t make a move.
