Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Catch Them All in One Go?
A giant spider with tiger stripes hanging upside down in the center of a pentagram, its eight black eyes reflecting Yang Yu’s stance, spat out three long spears entwined with its three spinning silk threads.
The spider tugged at the silk, reeling the spears back in, made entirely of silk, and swallowed them into its belly.
Upon closer inspection, the white pentagram woven from silk threads encased a white cocoon at each point.
Through the panel, Yang Yu could clearly see who was wrapped up in each cocoon.
Not a single member of the Sekamens team escaped, all captured by the Kazan Spider.
Besides that, there was one giant white cocoon.
A sharp leg of the Kazan Spider sliced through the giant white cocoon, and the silk that made up the cocoon instantly snapped. A burly figure tore through its bindings, emerging as if descending from the heavens and landing heavily on the ground, causing a violent tremor.
The creature that emerged from the cocoon was wrapped mostly in bandages, which could not hide the bulging muscles beneath.
The exposed dark green skin marked with black patterns, the elongated nose, the pointed ears, and its ugly appearance all betrayed its racial traits.
The creature, as mighty and majestic as a troll, was actually a giant goblin standing more than three meters tall.
The freed Goblin Lord Kamila, wielding a massive Wolf Fang Club, let out a deafening roar and immediately launched an attack on Yang Yu.
Seizing the opportunity, the Kazan Spider chewed its silk into a ball and, spitting it out like saliva, blocked the entryway, sealing off Yang Yu’s and his team’s escape route completely.
Goblin Lord Kamila had a Level of sixty, and with all attributes barring Speed and Intelligence above four hundred, Yang Yu kept using the Shield to perform "Shield Block" and "Shield Counter," fending off Kamila’s attacks and finding the chance to speak to Bai Jin and Iyas.
"I can handle this side alone, Iyas, you target the spider, disturb her movements, Bai Jin, follow the direction of my sword, rescue those trapped in the cocoons in turn."
Just as Bai Jin had finished chanting the "Ice Spear Technique," ready to swiftly aid Yang Yu in defeating the Goblin Lord, she immediately changed her attack’s direction at Yang Yu’s command and aimed at the first direction indicated by Yang Yu’s sword.
That was the cocoon where Rococo was trapped.
From the panel, it was evident that the Sekamens team trapped in the cocoons had their HP and stamina depleted, not yet life-threatening, but once freed, their weary bodies would certainly not become an immediate combat force to relieve the burden of fighting from Yang Yu.
If Rococo were freed first, it would minimize the cost and bring everyone on the scene to their best condition.
Moreover, as a Priest-in-training, Rococo undoubtedly learned many beneficial magics.
Even without rescuing the others right away, Yang Yu could take advantage of the buffs provided by Rococo to turn the stalemate around, extract himself from the Goblin Lord’s relentless attacks, find a counter opportunity, and defeat the Goblin Lord.
Of course, there was one major assumption, that was, Yang Yu would not be attacked by the Kazan Spider in the meantime.
That Kazan Spider moved more swiftly than Yang Yu had imagined, with a speed of spitting spears just as quick; otherwise, Yang Yu wouldn’t have been injured due to a few milliseconds’ mistake.
If the spider truly wished to join forces with the Goblin Lord, locking down Yang Yu’s movements and finishing him off, Yang Yu’s situation would likely be grim.
However, judging from the behavior pattern of the Kazan Spider and the fact that the Goblin Lord only had half its Blood Bar left, this particular Kazan Spider wasn’t a monster from the Underground Maze.
Encasing such a colossal Goblin Lord within a cocoon and draining half of its HP, the Kazan Spider surely aimed to restrict the Goblin Lord’s movements.
All things considered, the likelihood of the Kazan Spider cooperating with the Goblin Lord in combat wasn’t high.
Yet, one must not let their guard down because of this.
From everything that had transpired, the Kazan Spider possessed exceptional intelligence and was extremely patient.
After Yang Yu entered the territory of the Kazan Spider, it didn’t launch an immediate attack but silently waited for Bai Jin and Iyas to completely fall within its attack range before striking simultaneously.
Even now, faced with Bai Jin who was weaving magic and Iyas who could immediately draw arrows to attack it, the Kazan Spider’s highest priority was to seal the entrance with its web.
It seemed that this spider truly intended to snare Yang Yu and his companions all in one fell swoop.
An ordinary person would have already been unable to escape.
But Yang Yu had noticed some spider silk at the cave entrance before stepping in.
Yang Yu was convinced that the silk was no ordinary spider silk. He deliberately stepped on it and felt a sticky sensation underfoot, realizing that the silk’s stickiness was hundreds of times stronger than that of regular spider silk and designed specifically to capture large prey.
And what large animals in this Underground Maze could it possibly prey on?
Upon this realization, Yang Yu became immediately vigilant, pricking up his ears to listen intently to the surrounding sounds, analyzing how the giant spider might make its appearance.
He even seriously contemplated the possibility that the giant spider was lurking right above the entrance and pondered countermeasures.
This was also why he advanced alone, asking Iyas and Bai Jin to keep their distance.
The spider on the dome of the room was also entirely within Yang Yu’s expectations.
He just didn’t expect the spider to possess such powerful attributes, realizing that defeating it would depend wholly on Bai Jin and Iyas.
What Yang Yu could do was deal with the enormous Goblin Lord in front of them, impeding its attacks to allow Iyas and Bai Jin to have a clear field for their output, without being led around by the nose by the giant spider and Goblin Lord, which could lead to their collective demise.
Bai Jin launched her Ice Spear, scraping past the edge of Rococo’s web.
The Kazan Spider moved swiftly along the web, emitting a jet of pristine silk from its mouth that effortlessly enveloped Bai Jin’s Ice Spear, returning it with a taste of its own medicine back at Bai Jin.
Bai Jin discharged several Small Frost Ice Arrows in succession from her hands, cancelling out the incoming Ice Spear, then immediately resumed chanting her magic without pause.
Seizing this opportunity, Iyas released a Guaranteed Hit Arrow at the despicably moving spider.
The Kazan Spider attempted to spit silk again for defense but hadn’t anticipated that Iyas’s arrow would vanish right before its eyes, only to reappear and hit its soft underbelly with uncanny precision.
However, the spider didn’t emit any howl of pain, merely twitching its long legs and swiftly gliding across the web.
