Chapter 345: Chapter 345: A Woman’s Mouth, A Liar’s Ghost
Leaving Urasa, Yang Yu and his companions headed to the next city named Tansen.
On the way, Yang Yu yawned from time to time, having not slept well the previous night.
He could never have expected that Sena, of all people, would brazenly check into the very inn they were staying at.
Yang Yu was speechless.
Hadn’t it been agreed that she would not disturb our rest? How could she still appear before us so nonchalantly...
"Sure enough, my premonition was right. I didn’t expect us to meet again so soon."
Sena hummed a cheerful tune,
"Don’t worry, I won’t disturb your rest. We just happen to have booked the same inn as you, that’s all."
A woman’s mouth, a liar’s ghost.
As a distinguished member of an S-class adventure group, you should be staying in a grand hotel located in a bustling area, not this completely unremarkable tiny inn.
You must have decided on the spot.
But...
Yang Yu glanced at the boss, who was happily counting coins in the corner, clearly bought off.
By now, there was nothing Yang Yu could do to change the fact that this young lady had moved in, nor could he roll up his bedding and leave like avoiding the plague simply because someone else had moved in.
He could only hope that Sena wouldn’t cause any trouble, or notice anything off about Lotcar.
As it turned out, Yang Yu had been overly worried.
Even after Sena saw Lotcar, she didn’t notice anything particularly special about him.
At most, she might just consider Lotcar a rare wolf-type demon from some place, nothing more.
If there was anything to be considered strange, it was indeed that Lotcar’s magic power circuits were a bit odd, as if they were disturbed by something.
Disturbance in magic power circuits is not uncommon among demons.
Demons often become violent due to the disturbance of their magic power circuits.
As it stood, the disturbance in Lotcar’s magic power circuits hadn’t caused him to become violent, and he was still able to operate his own magic system well, like a benign tumor.
If you forcibly removed this "tumor," it might cause the "tumor" to spread and make Lotcar go berserk.
The best approach was to leave it be.
Hearing Sena say this, Yang Yu once again profoundly realized the difficulty of lifting the curse off Lotcar.
The curse had already become an integral part of Lotcar’s body, not something that could be easily removed.
Although Sena had shamelessly shown up at the inn, since she could provide some useful information, Yang Yu was still willing to calm down and have a chat with her.
Regrettably, while Sena could identify the chaos in Lotcar’s magic power, she was helpless and did not understand how to restore the disturbed magic to normality.
To lift the curse on Lotcar, they still had to return to the Silver Teeth Clan’s village, find his cousin, and then learn of the curser’s whereabouts from his cousin’s mouth.
Unsure if this counted as progress on the task, Yang Yu prepared to go back and get a good night’s sleep.
However, after chatting with Yang Yu, Sena was reluctant to leave, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Lotcar’s silver-white fur, getting close to admire Lotcar’s majestic figure.
Yang Yu wanted to drag Sena away from the warehouse right then and there, but Sena pointed to Chel Belli, who had also settled in the warehouse.
Chel Belli was much taller than the average human, and ordinary inns simply couldn’t accommodate him, so he had to make do in the warehouse.
Using her concern that Chel Belli might feel lonely by himself as an excuse, Sena extended her time before returning to rest.
Before speaking to Yang Yu, she had restrained herself somewhat, occasionally glancing at Lotcar, but after talking to Yang Yu, it was as if she had received his approval. She no longer concealed the desire in her eyes and stared at Lotcar as if he were a cute little rabbit.
If no one were looking, Yang Yu seriously suspected that Sena would bury her face in Lotcar’s white fur, chuckling idiotically and cooing to her heart’s content.
With no other choice, Yang Yu had to stay, watching Sena to prevent any misbehavior, while also pretending to make idle conversation, trying to learn as much as he could about the current situation of the Red Blood Rose, updating his intelligence.
In the middle of the night, when Sena left satisfied, Yang Yu followed her out and went back to bed.
But he hadn’t been asleep for long when there came a series of urgent knocks on the door. Upon opening it, he saw Iyas fully dressed and ready, saying it was morning already and time to look for her brother.
Glancing at the still dark night sky outside, Yang Yu closed the door, turned around to sleep, and told Iyas to come back for him when it got a little brighter.
As it turned out, Iyas really did come back for him as soon as it got just a little brighter...
Yang Yu had intended to give Iyas a good talking-to, but on second thought, he realized it would be pointless as she wouldn’t listen. He might as well settle scores with her later.
Thus, Yang Yu woke up Bai Jin, who was also groggy, and they left Urasa and headed for Tansen.
Yang Yu had chosen Tansen simply because it was closer to Urasa, requiring only six days... no, with Lotcar’s speed, probably just over three days, to get there.
Tansen was one of Serti’s largest commercial cities, situated beside Serti’s main river—the Star and Moon River.
Even if they gained nothing in Tansen, they could still follow this main river straight to the next destination.
Along the way, they could even learn a few skills.
To Yang Yu’s knowledge, there were many craftsmen capable of making Skill Scrolls along this river.
With a simple reach into his pocket, he could gain skills, and Yang Yu was quite willing to make the trip.
This was also one of the reasons why Yang Yu had withheld some information from Iyas.
On their journey, Yang Yu and his party occasionally saw caravans laden with goods hurrying to Tansen, as well as many adventurers traveling with them.
The road to Tansen was not safe, as mountain bandits often emerged to plunder.
Merchants would spend a great deal of money to gather adventurers for protection, yet some bandits would still target their caravans for attacks.
Yang Yu and his group had the misfortune of encountering mountain bandits.
Initially, when these bandits saw the massive Lotcar, they hesitated, not daring to obstruct Yang Yu’s carriage, but then they caught sight of Iyas sitting inside. Their lascivious desires surged, and noticing that Yang Yu’s group had no protection, they boldly blocked their path.
Faced with the bandits, Iyas simply drew her Bows and arrows and told Yang Yu not to stop. She then fired arrow after arrow, piercing the bandits who stood in their way.
Yang Yu had no intention of stopping in the first place.
Rather, before setting off, he had purposely dismantled the carriage’s roof so he could fish in troubled waters, letting the Experience Babies on the road deliver themselves to him.
Lotcar charged like an unstoppable force, breaking through the bandits’ roadblocks. Following Yang Yu’s orders, he slowed down, and Bai Jin intuitively used Magic to deal the finishing blows.
Yang Yu and his team were so resolute in their Attack it could have been mistaken for a drill.
The bandits were dumbfounded. Their vanguard, who had charged Yang Yu, quickly retreated halfway through, not willing to foolishly throw away their lives on such a fruitless endeavor.
And so, Yang Yu led his team safely through the danger zone.
