Chapter 337: Chapter 337: You Must Have a Guilty Conscience
This method of provocation was too blatant.
Truthfully, this sort of argument was less of a challenge and more reminiscent of the fallacious logic some girls resort to when they can’t reason their way out of a situation.
If a boy fails to meet their expectations or resists their decision, they harshly label him "not a real man."
Yet they never consider that individuals differ, and faced with the same circumstances, different people might react differently.
The world does not revolve according to their fanciful notions of how it should; each person is a universe unto themselves. Attempting to impose one’s own bandit logic, worldview, and values onto others is sheer folly.
Those who allow themselves to be manipulated by such bandit logic are usually either immature or lack conviction.
Unfortunately for them, Yang Yu was neither of those.
He might have been naive once, but he had since wised up.
He would not let a simple provocation heat his brow and engage in endless arguments.
Pointless disputes are nothing but a waste of time.
Whether or not he’s "equipped" down there, Yang Yu knows better than anyone; he wouldn’t possibly change his gender for someone’s blithe declaration of "not a real man."
If one could truly change genders simply by someone’s declaration, Yang Yu would actually like to try it out, perhaps transform into a whimpering monster.
When it comes to countering such fallacious logic, Yang Yu always considers his own interests first.
If someone’s being unreasonably troublesome, and it affects his own welfare, he’s indeed willing to spend some time setting them straight.
In this case, Lot’s words were simply to incite anger in him, to provoke him into using his demons to duel with them.
To become enraged would be playing right into their hands.
Truth be told, Yang Yu wasn’t opposed to battling them, it’s just that he felt entangling with the Red Blood Rose so early on was premature.
Experience Points in the later stages were quite hard to come by, and he needed to collect a few more Racial Essences before he planned to thoroughly extract every last drop of Experience Value from the Red Blood Rose.
Milking the cow back and forth wasn’t his style.
As for learning techniques through fighting Sena and others, Yang Yu felt it more effective to let He Meng and Lotcar learn by following him.
Moreover, if he were to win the demon duel, that’d be fine, but if he lost, Sena would certainly give a long-winded lecture on the very principles he was already well aware of.
He Meng might occasionally be useful at critical moments, but most of the time she’s just slacking and grazing, rendering her unfit for the stage.
As for Lotcar... he was cursed, utterly unable to exert his real strength and likely couldn’t escape a thorough beating.
In conclusion, not a single one of Yang Yu’s demons was capable of fighting; the only one capable was himself.
Therefore, Yang Yu didn’t hesitate,
"Although I am a Monster Tamer, you have misunderstood one thing from beginning to end, I do not force my monsters to fight.
The reason I formed contracts with them was simply to take better care of them.
I also have no intention of pursuing a career as a Monster Tamer. I appreciate your kindness, but I’ve already decided on my own path and hope you won’t meddle with it."
Sena’s smile froze on her face, "You’re a Monster Tamer but you don’t use monsters to fight?"
"To be honest, I’m stronger than my monsters; I won’t force them to fight unless they willingly join the battle," Yang Yu said with a smile on his face, "So, regarding the matter of the monster duel, I must decline once again."
Sena fell silent while Luo watched Yang Yu with keen eyes,
"I can’t believe you’re actually coming up with such an excuse. If you were truly strong, why would you need to rely on the power of demons?
I don’t believe they are merely seeking your protection and forming contracts with you.
It must be you who sought their help, and that’s why they formed contracts with you, right?"
"Believe it or not, what I’ve said is the truth. Anyway, I should be going now—it’s getting late, and you all should rest too."
Yang Yu took another step, but Lot still blocked his way,
"You really have a way with words, full of holes. Since the moment I started listening, I noticed you weren’t the least bit surprised, but rather, you took it in stride; among the demons you call partners, there must be some that can speak.
Speaking demons are a rare species with considerable wisdom. I don’t believe you’re stronger than they are; from head to toe, all I sense from you is the aura of the weak, not even half the strength of my master.
No use in making excuses; we can tell what your relationship is with your demons just by looking. You keep hiding things; there must be something you’re guilty of."
"Speaking demons aren’t that special, I’ve seen plenty."
Yang Yu spread his hands,
"You really are persistent. You’re not actually hoping to make me defeat you, are you? Let’s not joke around here. You’re members of the S-class adventure group ’Red Blood Rose,’ and I’m just an ordinary passerby. No matter how you look at it, I’d only end up losing to you.
Or is that your goal to begin with?
To bully a weaker Monster Tamer for a boost of confidence, to get a feel for it.
It’s like a kitten catching a mouse, not in a rush to eat, but rather playing with it thoroughly from head to toe.
Unfortunately, I’m not into being someone else’s punching bag."
Three cold lights suddenly appeared, flashing across Yang Yu’s eyes, as Lot revealed claws as pure and clear as three ice cones, with a hint of killing intent in her gaze.
Being a little female cat, her temper was quite explosive.
But...
"Lot, stop."
As Yang Yu expected, Sena, who had been watching from the side, spoke up to stop Lot.
"But Mistress, this guy is just asking for it—people like him need to be taught a lesson, to recognize who exactly is standing before them, to understand they cannot speak to you with such a tone."
"Stop, Lot, I said stop."
Turning around, Sena’s resolute gaze reflected in Lot’s eyes, and Lot retracted her shimmering claws, bowing her head obediently like an ordinary little cat.
After stopping Lot, Sena gently twisted her umbrella handle, her face apologetic, "I truly am sorry about before, but Lot didn’t have any bad intentions."
They were about to launch an attack, and that’s supposed to be without bad intentions?
Suppressing the urge to retort, Yang Yu impatiently said,
"Then, can I go now?"
"Don’t be in such a rush to leave. In this vast sea of people, our meeting must also be a kind of fate.
Even now, if you don’t plan on pursuing the Monster Tamer profession, it doesn’t mean you won’t want to in the future.
Becoming a Monster Tamer is a profession with more potential than you think; if you choose to develop in this area, you definitely won’t regret it."
