Chapter 296: Chapter 296: There Is Only One Truth
After talking with Yang Yu for a while, Fuer decided to end the meeting once Yang Yu had written the letter of introduction and escorted Yang Yu to the door.
Before visiting Fuer, Yang Yu had already been to Chilom’s place and exchanged all the snacks he had drawn for Contribution Value.
If he exchanged those Contribution Values for Gold Coins, Yang Yu could instantly become a multimillionaire.
Therefore, coming up with a mere seven million was no issue for him.
The reason he chose to invest in Fuer was not only because he valued Fuer’s intellect, but also because he appreciated his character and popularity, believing that Fuer could achieve what others could not.
This world once boasted an advanced ancient civilization.
Although this era couldn’t reach the heights of the past, it possessed many things that could be considered industrial foundations. All that was missing were some innovative ideas to help break through their conventional thinking.
With the right angle, the civilization level of this world could soar at high speed.
This was Yang Yu’s first time truly guiding someone to change the world.
At Chilom’s place, Yang Yu had used his own knowledge to alter Chilom’s cognition, but back then, it was more about securing more funds, quite different from this time.
Initially, Yang Yu did think of exchanging ideas for money, but considering that his everyday knowledge might overturn someone’s understanding, leading to skepticism and failing to achieve his desired effect.
Yang Yu changed his mind on the spot, not only did he not want money, but he also invested his own, allowing Fuer to focus on research and sales.
A few million Game Coins exchanged for a chance to possibly change the game world, Yang Yu felt it was a deal well worth the anticipation.
If an item like a smartphone were to be created, his years of experience would enable him to boast to the NPCs for days on end.
After bidding farewell to Fuer, Yang Yu planned to take advantage of the evening before it fully set in to return to his room for a good night’s sleep, preparing for the call from the Special Measures Committee.
However, just as Yang Yu set out, he heard Fuer’s voice from behind.
"Yang Yu, you didn’t come here to join the All Things Library and become a true member of the Library, did you?"
After pondering for a while, Fuer finally decided to tell Yang Yu about that matter. He didn’t want someone capable of such great imagination to die in a senseless war.
Yang Yu turned and smiled slightly at Fuer,
"I’m an adventurer, and I only came to the Library to seek the knowledge I want. I prefer the thrill of a roller-coaster-like adventure over a secure life in the All Things Library. Leaving the All Things Library is only a matter of time."
Fuer’s voice continued behind Yang Yu,
"I don’t know where you’re really going, but if possible, please come back here in three years and stay for one year."
Fuer suddenly brought up a very precise timeframe, surprising Yang Yu, "Do you mean that you can complete the initial research within three years?"
"No, that’s not what I meant," Fuer denied Yang Yu’s guess, "In three years, a significant catastrophe may occur in this world, immersing it into a vast war, a war not just anyone can get involved in.
The All Things Library may be the only safe place."
"What do you mean?"
Fuer’s ambiguous response made Yang Yu frown, sensing that things were not simple. His intuition told him that Fuer must know some significant secret.
Thinking it couldn’t be, Yang Yu joked half-seriously,
"It couldn’t be that simple, could it? A war not just anyone can get involved in... could it be a war between the Demon King and this world?"
While speaking, Yang Yu watched Fuer’s every move. Fuer didn’t laugh it off but remained grave, yet didn’t outright deny Yang Yu’s suggestion,
"This isn’t something to be discussed lightly, and I’m not sure what it truly is?"
Words that sought to conceal something convinced Yang Yu that Fuer most certainly knew something. But how could an outsider like him possibly know the exact time of the Demon King’s arrival?
There was only one truth!
"In this world, there must be villages similar to the Village of Heroes or the Village of the Sage, right? Aren’t there any people in those villages who can see into the future? I’d like to find one of them to calculate my fate."
"The Village of Heroes is hidden within the borders of the Sethis Kingdom. The sages there only prophesy significant events. I’m afraid that if you go, it will be a thankless effort."
"I see. I don’t mean to offend, but Fuer, have you or any of your relatives visited the Village of Heroes recently? If so, could you guide me there? Whether or not they can make a prophecy about someone like me, I won’t know until I go."
"I can’t say whether they have or haven’t, and let’s end the discussion about the Village of Heroes here. But if you wish to visit, go ahead."
After a pause, Fuer turned toward the house,
"I’ve been thinking, please regard the foolish words I just spoke as if I had never said them at all, and don’t spread meaningless panic; people would surely see you as a lunatic. Then, see you in three years."
Having said that, Fuer reluctantly walked back into the villa.
Watching Fuer close the great doors of the villa, Yang Yu also started walking back toward his own dormitory.
He hadn’t expected that his visit would yield such an unexpected discovery; Yang Yu was now fairly certain that the three years mentioned by Fuer were when the Demon King would descend upon this world.
The reason Fuer gave such a vague warning was surely because he didn’t want to drag him into a needless war, causing a waste of lives.
But Yang Yu didn’t see it that way; with almost three years left until the Demon King’s arrival, he had plenty of time to grow stronger.
He couldn’t yet determine how strong the Demon King would be, but one thing was clear—the Demon King had to be stronger than anyone else in this world.
If not, what a letdown the Demon King would be.
Just the thought of the Demon King being pinned to the ground and scuffled by NPCs made Yang Yu uncontrollably utter exclamations like, "Is that all? No way, no way! The Demon King defeated just like that?"
So, the Demon King’s combat strength was very likely superior to all NPCs.
"To win at the Dragon God Conference two years later and become a standout among the younger generation, then spend another year to rise as one of the top powers in this world...
This challenge is simply nothing to fear."
Brimming with confidence, Yang Yu walked back to his dorm with a spring in his step.
Knowing the exact time of the Demon King’s arrival, he felt he could plan his time even more effectively.
...
...
After going back to the dorm for a good sleep, a day passed before the Library Countermeasures Committee sent someone to notify Yang Yu that it was his turn to participate.
The All Things Library laid out its demands and corresponding obligations on a lengthy list and handed it over to Yang Yu.
Yang Yu then entered a special White Ball under escort—an artifact originally prepared for the winners of the Library conference, which was no longer needed.
Within the White Ball, Yang Yu reestablished contact with a Fairy, passed through the Fairy’s Barrier, and headed to Fairyland.
Now, he could finally acquire the knowledge he had been yearning for.
What Yang Yu didn’t know was that, while he was greedily gathering the knowledge he needed in Fairyland, a group of people was traveling towards the All Things Library in a remarkably ordinary carriage.
